Eunice,Lynnie,SamKitchens,andstudgroomChubLodovskileanedinarowontherailofthestallions'paddockatMidwayandwatchedChrysaliseatKentuckygra.s.swithopinionsvaryingfromLodovski'senthusiasmtoEunice'sresignation.

Thehalfamillionpounds'worthlookednonetheworseforhistripuptheTetons.Betterthanontheranch,a.s.samKitchenshadremovedalltheWyomingdustfromhiscoatonthejourneyback,andthebayhideshonewithglitteringgoodhealthinthesunshine.Therewasn't,Lodovskia.s.suredme,theslightestchanceofhisgoingmissingagain.

Batteriesofphotographersandpressmenhadcomeandgone:thestallionhadbeen'found'strayingonthelandofafriendofDaveTeller'saboutthirtymilesfromwherehehaddisappeared.Alltheexcitementwasover.

IwalkedbacktoDave'shousewithEuniceandLynnie,andEunicepouredmeadrinkwhichwasfour-fifthswhiskyandone-fifthice.
