Mingyue opened her mouth and closed it. For a while, she did not know how to bring up her matters. She had been waiting for her husband to return home to discuss this matter. But now that he was in front of her, Mingyue did not know how to begin.
After some thought, Mingyue spoke again. "Back in Da Cheng, didn't my grandfather taught you how to examine pulse?"
Back then, because Yang Yun was p.r.o.ne to get injured during his mission, Han Zhenting had taught him a few things, including how to examine pulse.
When Yang Yun would sometimes accompany Mingyue and her grandfather to roam around Da Cheng to give the unfortunates free medical check-up, Yang Yun would often lend his hand and gained experience as well.
His wife's question caused the frown on Yang Yun's face deepened. "What's wrong? You don't feel well?"
Mingyue nodded. "Why don't you try to examine my pulse and see what's wrong with me?"
Hearing that his wife was not feeling too good, Yang Yun started to panic. He carried her to bed and let Mingyue lay down. Then, he took her hand and placed his fingers on her wrist.
The first time he felt something, Yang Yun immediately turned his head to Mingyue and looked at her in disbelief. However, when Mingyue did not give him a reaction, Yang Yun went back to recheck her pulse.
This time, he took his time to check the pulse on both hands. But the result was the same.
Yang Yun met his wife's gaze and stuttered. "Mingyue, you…"
Seeing her husband's anxious look, Mingyue broke into a smile. "What did you find out?"
Yang Yun continued to place his fingers on her wrist to feel her pulse. He was afraid that Mingyue's pulse would suddenly change, and his suspicion was wrong.
Although their grandfather had let him felt the same pulse before, Yang Yun was still in disbelief to feel the same pulse from his wife.
"You're not going to say anything?" Mingyue asked after a while.
Seeing that Yang Yun continue to stare at her in a daze, Mingyue let out a laugh. She could never imagine that Yang Yun would one day be stupefied like this. Just now, he was still teasing and acted playfully with her.
Mingyue pulled her hand away from him and stared into his eyes. "Yang Yun, do you like children?"
"I-I don't know," Yang Yun said. Other than Jiang Xiao Xian's son, Yang Yun had no experience with children.
"You don't know?" the smile on her face widened. Seeing how her husband continued to watch her with a mix of emotions, Mingyue knew that it would take some time before Yang Yun could process his thought. "Then, if we have children, will you like them?"
Yang Yun gave that question serious thought. When he imagined how a small version of his wife running around him, Yang Yun began to feel excited. His expressionless face began to show a faint smile.
"I will like them," Yang Yun nodded. "Of course, I will like them."
Mingyue laughed. Then, she grabbed his hand and spoke. "Yang Yun, you guessed right. I'm pregnant. I noticed that I hadn't got my menstrual on the last day at the hospital."
"So, you have known for a while?"
"I wasn't so sure. It was not until today that I went to a clinic for a check-up."
Hearing the confirmation, Yang Yun felt as if everything around him had disappeared. There were so many things going through his mind that Yang Yun did not know how to react.
"You really are not going to say anything?" Mingyue asked. Her husband's lack of expression began to make her worry. "You're not happy?"
"It's not that," Yang Yun said quickly. He tightened his grip on her hand as he took a deep breath. "It's just that; I don't know what to say." He pulled her to his embrace and sighed. "Let me process my thought."
Mingyue stayed in his embrace for a while. With his nose against her neck and his breath on her skin, Mingyue felt a bit ticklish.
"Mingyue," Yang Yun called after a long silence. "Are we really having a child together?"
"Un," she nodded. Though she could not see his face in their position, Mingyue could feel his smile.
"I will like our children," Yang Yun said. This time, his tone was more resolute. He closed his eyes for a while and frowned. "It's just that; I don't know how to be a father. Growing up, my mother raised me alone."
Mingyue paused. She knew that Yang Yun grew up without his father by his side. When Yang Yun was still small, his father was stationed at the army camp and had rarely returned home. And then, he died in a battle.
Her mother-in-law was the one who raised Yang Yun and his sister. However, before long, Yang Yun had entered the army to help his mother. Not only did Yang Yun had not experienced fatherly love as he grew up, Yang Yun, too, was forced to grow up too quickly.
She pulled away from him and studied his expression. Seeing his worry, Mingyue leaned forward to kiss him on his chin. "Yang Yun, you're not the only one who was anxious and worry. I don't have experience with a child, and I don't know how to be a mother. When I found out that there's a tiny life inside me, I was worried. Will I be a good mother?"
Yang Yun moved his hand to her flat stomach as if he could feel the little life in there. He still could not believe that he was about to become a father.
There was a brief silence between them until Yang Yun spoke, "Then, we will learn to be parents together, alright?"
A smile bloomed on her face as Mingyue nodded and said, "Good."
Yang Yun wrapped his arms around her again. The thought of him becoming a father was indescribable. Though he did not know how he will fare as a father, Yang Yun made a silent vow that he will do his best.
