They can't even bid goodbye when they arrived at the condominium.
Everything went fast with a simple question.
But it set their emotions in the right place.
Clark's been hungry for Sheen ever since she arrived.
Sheen feels happy and complete whenever Clark's with her.
Their actions might not be screaming what they feel, but each other's presence already brings out the best in them.
"I can't believe it, Sheen! I mean, just don't get married before us. But oh my goodness gracious, I didn't know that was going to happen! Dan only told me when he was going to watch. I mean, you didn't say yes because it's on the heat of the moment, right? Are you sure?" Bea asks.
The moment Sheen got home, she called Bea immediately.
"No... I mean, I was not pressured. I was worried that he's not serious. You know, when I read the question in the letter, I was sure of my answer. I just got anxious because it's really a surprise. I mean, ugh! I don't know, honestly. He never showed that he likes me? Does he? Am I just dense?" Sheen asks as she lays on her bed.
"Hmm, let me see. Honestly, it's obvious that he likes you--- no, he loves you. See this, he always tries to make you happy and I think, that's the most important thing a person who loves you will do. Anyways, you're not the type to be cheesy you know, you're more of the 'action' type of person," Bea laughs while thinking of the books Sheen has written.
"How?" Sheen chuckles.
"You know you're the touchy type, right? Kissing here, kissing there, move here mover there and remember one of your books has s.m.u.t on it?" Bea hysterically laughs while remembering that it's the most inappropriate thing that Sheen has written.
Sheen covers her face with a pillow as she blushes.
It was the hardest writing adventure she ever did and she never planned to remember nor do it again.
"Anyways, I hope you'll behave before marriage, Sheen."
"Stop, it's embarra.s.sing."
Sheen answers with the pillow on her face as she still hears Bea's laugh.
"But, I'm happy for you, Sheen. I mean, I know you're happy with Clark. But if ever you feel unsure about him, tell me. I'll help you sort out things, okay? And remember, you're not alone anymore, he's with you now," Bea tries to keep her emotions under control.
It makes her happy that someone loves Sheen aside from her.
That someone's there for her.
That Clark will never leave her.
"I know," Sheen softly answers.
She knows she's not alone anymore ever since Clark came.
That someone's there to make her feel better.
"But, you know... I wonder how he... ugh, begin loving me. What's with me? Since when did he felt this way? Was I dense? Oh my goodness, my head's aching with these questions again..." Sheen groans and rolls on her bed.
"Ask him. You're not that shy type, to be honest, you're straight forward, you're just afraid. But, it's Clark. Don't be shy," Bea caresses her tummy.
"Should I call him? I mean, I can't sleep with these questions."
"Yeah, I'll go now. Dan brought some gummy worms, bye!"
Bea turned off the call and left Sheen staring at her phone, thinking whether to call Clark or not.
It's not yet that late.
But he might be working.
What if he's already sleeping and she wakes him up?
Sheen sighs and puts the phone on her chest.
She suddenly remembered what happened earlier and it made her blush with a weird wide smile.
She never felt this happy before.
It's as if she does not have any worries even just for a while.
It's as if the world is so kind.
That she's glad she never gave up her life.
She's glad she didn't lose in her battles because if she did, she will not meet Clark.
She will not meet her childhood friend again.
She will not feel loved.
As she contemplates her life, her phone suddenly rings.
Her heart raced once again as her hand softly trembles with nervousness and happiness.
"Sheen," Clark called.
Sheen smiled, "Yes?"
It's weird that she always have conversations with Clark, but now, it is different.
"You know you can back out, right? I'm sorry if I put you in a tight spot. It was very inappropriate to ask you to marry me when we haven't dated yet."
Sheen held the pillow close to her with a smile, "No, I do believe that dating is similar to being engaged, right? And, don't worry. I won't force myself to you if I don't like you."
"That's a.s.suring to hear, thank you. And, uh, I'll tell Cj tomorrow."
"Oh, yeah. I hope he's fine with me," Sheen chuckles.
She knows Cj's fine with her being his mommy since day 1.
"He will be. He loves you so much."
Sheen looks at the ceiling, "Hey, I have a question. It's weird and it's fine if you won't answer."
"What is it? I'll answer it, so you can sleep in peace."
She sits up and put the pillow on her lap, "Why do you love me?"
Her heart's been banging her ribs with its loud beating.
She can't think of any answer for her own question.
Who will love someone as messed up as she is?
Who will love a boring person?
A miserable one.
A broken one.
Who?
Why?
"Because you're so strong that it makes me cry."
Sheen widens her eyes as her hand covers her mouth while tears flood her eyes.
"You're so strong that you keep on fighting alone. I know it, whenever I see you, I can see that you're fighting your own battles. And when you cry, it breaks my heart because I don't know what to do. I want to make you feel better but I don't know how," Clark looks at Sheen's photo where she smiles but you can see her broken eyes from one of Cj's photos during their trip to aquapark.
Sheen sobs, someone finally saw her.
Clark saw her.
He saw her struggles.
Her sadness.
But he chooses to stay.
He loves her.
"I love you because you're honest. You're sweet. You're kind. You're trustworthy. You're smart. You're creative. You're... my G.o.d, how can you exist? You're so beautiful that I can't get you out of my head. You're so amazing that your presence overwhelms me. You're... I love you, I don't know what else to say. I just love you, ever since we were kids, I loved you and I love you still until the end. I don't want anyone to hurt you. I don't want anyone making you cry. I don't want to feel the same pain I felt when I saw you cry."
Sheen's lips tremble as she hears the word she longs to hear from someone.
Words that will make her feel that she is not just broken.
"I love you like how a painter loves his masterpiece, no matter how you look, how other people see you, no matter how you see yourself. I will always see your beauty," Clark laughs, "That is a bad comparison, I am sorry."
Sheen laughs as well and wipes her tears away, "Thank you, Clark. I love you."
Clark went silent for a while without any reply.
"Clark?" Sheen calls.
"Aren't you going to tell me why you love me? Or do I have to make you love me?" Clark asks in a serious tone.
Sheen suddenly felt embarra.s.sed, of course, she has to answer her own question for him.
"Well, I love you because... you make me happy."
No one else makes her happy- as in, fully happy.
Happy because of nothing, she just feels happy whenever Clark's with her.
And it's the best feeling she's never felt before.
She feels accepted and understood whenever Clar's with her.
"You make me happy too. Good night, Sheen, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's breakfast."
Clark chuckle's made Sheen smile.
"Good night too, Clark."
"Good morning, Madam!"
Every person Sheen has encountered in the company has been calling her madam.
And it is starting to make her feel uncomfortable.
"Bea, why do they call me that?" Sheen whispers to Bea as they enter the elevator.
They just finished their break and is about to give files to Clark.
"Well, you're the future madam, why shouldn't they call you madam?"
"What do you mean?"
"Duh? You're engaged to boss!" Bea rolled her eyes away from Sheen.
She's having the bad day of pregnancy and she feels a bit irritated by everything.
"And so? I am still the a.s.sistant, they shouldn't be calling me too formal. It's very uncomfortable."
"What is?" Dan arrived, entering the elevator from the 68th floor.
"Our madam is irritated by being called madam," Bea answered and sighed.
"Who?" The elevator stopped and Louis, the comic artist, enters.
"Sheen doesn't want to be called Madam," Dan chuckles while looking at Sheen who's staring at him with a blank expression.
"Madam? Why?" Louis asks.
"I know, right? Why are they calling me madam?" Sheen raised her brows in disbelief.
"You don't know? She's engaged to boss," Bea excitedly showed Sheen's ring.
Louis stared at the ring, "Is that... wow, that's the Queen's Emerald Ring, the most expensive one!"
Sheen and Bea look at Louis in surprise, "Most expensive?" they both ask in unison as Louis nods.
Sheen and Bea look at the ring, "Hide it! Oh my goodness, what if some robber sees it and they cut your finger!" Bea panics and helps Sheen took off the ring.
"Hide it!" Bea said.
Dan and Louis laugh.
"Congrats, Sheen," Louis said in a sweet smile, making Sheen stand in awe.
'Oh my second lead syndrome,' Sheen thought as she smiles, "Thank you."
"You coming to the Guandemo Banquet?" Dan asks Louis.
"Yeah, my family's invited," Louis answers with an irritated face.
"You're going too, Louis?" Sheen looks at Louis in confusion.
"Yeah, his family owns the largest museum in the country," Dan laughs at Louis.
"Anyways, you guys know what's in that banquet, right? And I'm sorry to say this, Sheen. But with this engagement, you'll be the topic," Louis sighs as he looks at Sheen.
"Is this banquet really that bad? If that's the case, then I'll stay out of it, then," Sheen fakes smiling.
Bea looks at her with worry.
Gossips.
The most demonic destruction of a person's self-esteem.
And that banquet is celebrated for that matter.
"If Sheen's not going, I'll stay with her. I don't know why people go to places like that," Bea puts her hand on Sheen's waist and hugs her softly.
"Well, Clark will go no matter what. It's a good social event where you'll find good business partners. You just have to bear with their mouths that night but after that everything will seem like it didn't happen."
Louis is about to leave the elevator, "Don't worry, if Clark's with her, no one will try to talk about her. Clark's very respected by almost everyone, you know. Just wear your ring, Sheen."
"Hey, Bosssss~" Bea exclaimed as they enter Clark's office.
Dan smiled at Clark as he put papers on top of his table making him groan.
"The files you ask about the magazine are there as well," Bea pointed at the papers Dan gave Clark as she sits down on the couch.
Sheen smiled at Clark and they both shared sweet stares at each other making Dan and Bea look at them weirdly.
"You guys, stop staring at each other like you haven't seen each other for a long time. By the way, have you told Cj yet?" Dan asks and leans on Clark's table.
"Yes, and he was very glad. He even cried because out of surprise. I already knew he will love to hear that Sheen can be his real mother but I was not expecting him crying," Clark read the files Dan gave.
"Oh, wow. You're lucky to have an instant cute son, Sheen," Bea said.
Sheen, who's taking the files that Clark has signed, smiled at Bea with gladness.
She remembered how Cj ran to her when Clark said that they will get married and cried in her arms.
She'll be part of their family at last.
And that's the best thing that will ever happen to her.
"By the way, Sheen, are you going to publish your book soon?" Dan asks.
"Yeah, I already told Clark about it."
"How about the typos?" Bea smirked and wiggles her eyebrows at Sheen who ran to her and covered her mouth.
"What typo?" Clark asks out of curiosity.
"Well," Dan looks at Sheen to tease her.
Sheen looks at him with a scared and bullied look.
"I'll tell you someday," Dan laughs.
Everything seemed fine.
Not until the banquet night.
"How dare you call yourself his fiancee? You're nothing but a writer," a woman in a halter deep V split backless dress who just threw a c.o.c.ktail on Sheen's dress while her right eyebrow is raised highly with her red lips smirk on her face.
They are both alone in the hallway.
Sheen came from the comfort room while the woman came from the party.
She just stands frozen while clenching on her dress.
"How pathetic, you shouldn't leave his side. You're just a kitten inside a lions' den, missy. Leaving your master's lap is your death."
