102 Till Death

"We will avenge him," Kaldrek spoke in a quiet tone, "All the five kingdoms will."

"Of course," Jayesh smiled wryly at him, "After all, he was the king of Lumna, and all the kingdoms were attacked apparently. And Arrion was beloved by all the civilized lands, even if his chosen queen was from Nix'Ryl."

"He rescued her from Nix'Ryl," Kaldrek pointed out. "And she has changed, you know. She is no longer that totally wild thing who was totally self-centered. She may be worse at feelings than I am, but you saw the way she acted about his death."

"Yeah, I suppose," Jayesh frowned, "Since when have you been good at reading people?"

Kaldrek could not miss the teasing in his best friend's voice and grinned slightly, "I'm not. But it was hard to miss the way she acted whenever anyone mentioned her husband. I can tell signs of grief, and if she did not care about him at all she would not have been on the verge of tears. You can sometimes use logic to determine such things, you know. And I have always been good at logic."

"I suppose that is true," Jayesh began to smile in a very teasing manner, "Which makes me wonder, why exactly would you never have logically picked up on the fact that Zylvia liked you? I mean, I know why Fayre and I never did but you did not have that distraction."

Kaldrek could not stop the slight blush that crept up his skin and he sighed, "There is a rather big difference between grief and a girl being in love with me. She disguised it under friends.h.i.+p. And she is a rather loving gal in the first place. Far different than Queen Dawn."

Jayesh sighed, "Well, anyway, we probably need to figure out which magic users to send. Any suggestions?"

Kaldrek thought about it for a moment, "Aldresh, Gysen, Fendrel. They are fairly good at magic and each of their specialties would come in useful." Kaldrek would have offered to go himself if it was not for the fact he knew Jayesh would never allow it. He had duties that kept him here, no matter how curious he might be about the untamed lane of Nix'Ryl. And he would never disobey his

king.

"I knew you would have an idea of who to send." Jayesh nodded, "Alright, then, I will send them a summons."

Kaldrek smiled, knowing that his king counted on the fact that he always liked to keep a record of the different magic users in the kingdom and that they would often send him questions for research. The whole kingdom was aware of the Court Sorcerer's hobby of research and many of their magically inclined made use of his enthusiasm. As such he corresponded a lot with all sorts of spell casters.

They continued discussing what else they could do to provide a.s.sistance until night fell. Once night did fall, Jayesh leaned back and made a shooing motion with his hand, "Alright, go accompany your wife for the night. She'll probably love to spend some time with you."

Kaldrek nodded as he stood up, "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow morning, then. Night, Jayesh"

Kaldrek smiled as he left the room, even though his mind was already turning to his lovely wife. Thoughts of his Zylvia made him want to hurry up and get to their room to wait for her. He felt rather impatient, and wanted nothing more at that moment than to scoop her up in his arms and to hold her close as she would let him. Which he knew would be rather close.

She was not in their room when he arrived which he had expected. So he sat on their bed and waited on her. He was not sure how long he waited, but when he saw the door opening, a huge smile lit up his face.

Seeing her enter, her red hair falling out of where he had tied it up for her in a way he found rather alluring, with her sparkling green eyes, his breath caught in his throat. She was so beautiful and she was his to hold till death did they part.

"Hey, Zylv," He whispered, standing up, not taking his eyes off of her.

She gave him that cheeky grin of hers and walked over to him, "Kaldrek." Her sweet voice nearly made him melt on the spot, and he smiled at her.

She placed a slight kiss on his lips and then started to change her clothes. He walked over to her and picked her up in his arms brought her to bed.
