"…"
You don't have to remind me that I'm bad at studying…
When Jiang Feng got out of the toilet, his expression wasn't very appealing.
"Bro, what's wrong?" w.a.n.g Hao asked.
"Stomachache."
…
Jiang Feng got a call from Jiang Jiankang just before dinner time, he grabbed the seasonings he bought and went to the shop with w.a.n.g Hao.
Jiang Feng's uncles and their families had already arrived. The door was open, but the sign wasn't up yet. Jiang Feng went into the kitchen and set the seasonings down before taking w.a.n.g Hao up to the second floor.
The moment w.a.n.g Hao got to the second floor, his jaw dropped.
The room was filled with humongous people. Neither age nor gender played a role in how big they were. Their size was huge, and they had expressions that made them look like they were from the mafia. Even the twin sisters that were still in ninth grade looked similar.
w.a.n.g Hao thought that he was at a gathering for the mafia.
"B… bro… What's up with your family? Is the tradition in your family sumo or what?" w.a.n.g Hao asked as he swallowed anxiously.
"Our tradition is as chefs," Jiang Feng laughed and took w.a.n.g Hao over to the tables.
The adults sat on one table while the others sat on another.
The foods were already on the table, and they were still steaming with warmth.
The moment w.a.n.g Hao sat down, Jiang Feng could see that either Jiang Junlian or Jiang Junqing smiled at w.a.n.g Hao. Since the twin sisters looked precisely the same, Jiang Hao could never tell one from another.
"There's Braised Pork Meatb.a.l.l.s in Gravy, Braised Pork Hock with Brown Sauce, Sweet and Sour Carp, Stir-fried Potato, Green Pepper and Eggplant. Over there is the Kung Pao Chicken, Braised Pork Intestine, Chinese Yam Coated in Syrup, Fish Head and Tofu Soup," Jiang Feng introduced every dish to w.a.n.g Hao as he pointed at them. "Oh, a friendly warning. Don't drink the soup. My dad's bad at making it."
[A bowl of over-seasoned Fish Head and Tofu Soup]
Jiang Feng believed that Jiang Jiankang must've slept on the job while making the soup.
When w.a.n.g Hao first got up to the second floor, he was too shocked by the scene he saw that he did not notice the food on the table. Now that he'd finally sat down, he was already drooling after hearing Jiang Feng introduce it all.
Even though the plating wasn't the best, the aroma was enough to tell how good the foods were.
w.a.n.g Hao swallowed his drool and took a piece of the Chinese yam.
The syrup coated the perfectly fried yam wholly. When w.a.n.g Hao took a bite into it, the outside was crunchy, but the inside was soft and refres.h.i.+ng.
It was so good that w.a.n.g hao almost cried.
"Bro, you're lucky to have such a father," w.a.n.g Hao couldn't help but compliment.
"Here, try this," Jiang Feng laughed and placed a piece of the Kung Pao Chicken in w.a.n.g Hao's bowl. "This is my dad's specialty dish."
Before w.a.n.g Hao even swallowed the yam in his mouth, he quickly stuffed the chicken in.
"It's so good!" w.a.n.g Hao exclaimed.
The Kung Pao Chicken that Jiang Jiankang made wasn't as spicy as traditional, and it was on the sweeter side. Jiang Feng had no idea how w.a.n.g Hao could tell it was good when he still has another sweet food in his mouth at the same time.
Even though the Kung Pao Chicken was Jiang Jiankang's specialty dish, the best food on the table was definitely the Braised Pork Hock with Brown Sauce.
The pork hock was one of Jiang Jiankang's favorite foods, but Jiang Weiguo hated it. When Jiang Jiankang was working at the state-owned restaurant, he took a chance and learned how to make the Braised Pork Hock from one of the chefs over there. He then improved the recipe over time and perfected it. Even though the dish was still called Braised Pork Hock in Brown Sauce by Jiang Jiankang, the dish was much different than the traditional one.
The pork hock was braised for at least four hours. When Jiang Feng poked into the meat with his chopsticks, they sank into the meat easily. When he pulled the meat apart by separating his chopsticks, the aroma of the pork escaped the dish and was carried into his nose.
The meat was soft and sweet. Even though it was a part of the pork that had a lot of fat in it, the long cooking rendered most of the grease out.
The foods managed to offset Jiang Feng's uncles' regret for not being able to taste their father's foods recently.
Even though the food on the table was already on a national level, the Jiang family could only find satisfaction from it. The foods weren't anywhere near amazing to them.
Even though Jiang Jiankang was a great cook, he wasn't anywhere near Jiang Weiguo's level.
But it was different for w.a.n.g Hao as he never tasted Jiang Weiguo's cooking nor had the chance to dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant. The food on the table almost took him to Heaven.
"You really are my brother!" w.a.n.g Hao exclaimed to Jiang Feng. "Your dad should've come here sooner!"
Now that w.a.n.g Hao had tasted Jiang Jiankang's food, there was no way he would take a bite of canteen food ever again.
The thought of it gave w.a.n.g Hao some newly found strength. He quickly pulled his phone out, and his fingers ran across the screen like his life depended on it.
"What are you doing?" Jiang Feng asked when he saw w.a.n.g Hao had typed out a paragraph of words on the phone.
"Advertising! I'm going to persuade everyone to come here and try your dad's food!"
"Ding! Reputation gained. Quest progress: 1/100."
