Volume 1 Chapter 30

The three princes stepped onto the platform. As they appeared, there was a sudden gasp from the crowd; the prince standing in the middle was an uncommon beauty, with willowy eyebrows and a pair of jet-black pupils that seemed to have an immeasurable depth to them. Under his high and slender nose was a pair of alluring cherry-red lips, extremely captivating to the eye. His pristine and silky-soft white skin was tinged with a slight shade of pink, further provoking the want of all the women that stared upon him.

At seeing the reaction he had provoked, the prince's face flushed with a deeper red color, although there was a touch of inevitable pride in his mind. Ever since he was young, his father had doted on him, placing him as the prince most likely to inherit the throne. Therefore his father had sent him here, instructing him to take the hand of the Motian Dynasty's Eldest Princess, as she would be the most likely candidate to become Empress. If he could become her main husband, then he would be able to spy on all the goings and happenings in the Motian Dynasty.

I must accomplish what that useless brother of mine could never do. Thinking of this, his gaze turned to Xiaoyao Yunyan, who was quietly sitting with Mo Qingli's entourage, his head lowered.

The prince cut off his train of thoughts. Instead, he took initiative to address the Empress: “I am the Xiaoyao Dynasty's Xiaoyao Yunshang.”

“Xiaoyao Yunbo.”

“Feng Qingjue of the Fengchao Dynasty.”

“Paying respects to the Empress. Long live the Empress!”

The Empress nodded her head faintly. It seemed like this time the rumors had been mostly true; the Xiaoyao Dynasty and Fengchao Dynasty had both sent their most promising heirs to her kingdom to wed. Still, she doubted the conspiracy that the rumors had mentioned; there seemed to be no schemes from both dynasties at play.

Thinking of this, the Empress loudly said: “There is no need for the princes of our allied dynasties to be over-courteous. You may rise!”

“Many thanks to the Empress!”

“May the three princes please sit!” Mo Qingyu stood up, closely eyeing Xiaoyao Yunshang.

Mo Qinghan stared at Mo Qingyu with derision. She had been reduced to a single eye, and yet she still delusionally tried to become betrothed to a prince, it really was too funny to watch.

Mo Qinghan stared at Leng Hanling and Mu Tianlang, who were both sitting beside her, her eyes narrowing. Tonight, she would definitely turn them into her consorts, as well as that Xiaoyao Yunshang.

Feng Chenling carefully observed Mo Qingli's expression, afraid that she would be led astray by Xiaoyao Yunshang. However, it appeared that he had been thinking too much; from start to finish, Mo Qingli had not given the princes even a glance.

Xiaoyao Yunyan and Ge Mingkan also became confused at Mo Qingli's reaction. In the past, hadn't this idiot princess practically been drooling at the sight of them? Meanwhile tonight she hadn't been bothered to even look up, her attention seemingly preoccupied with something else.

The hall began to fill with music and dance. All of the dancers and singers were extraordinarily good-looking men, but still paled drastically in beauty compared to the three princes.

Xiaoyao Yunshang glanced throughout the room, unsure of which woman was the eldest princess, Mo Qingyu. He shared a glance with Xiaoyao Yunbo, who was also facing the same problem.

Feng Qingjue wore a calm expression, sitting to the side and leisurely drinking wine. However, after careful scrutiny, it could be noticed that his long and narrow eyes would occasionally display a flash of light.

Mo Qingli indifferently glanced at him. It seemed he was really wasn't simple, and not a bad choice at all!

The Empress embraced Ouyang Haoxian, her pale face flus.h.i.+ng red from too much alcohol. She pointed a finger towards the direction of Mo Qingyu, Mo Qinghan, and Mo Qingli, speaking to the three princes, “These six women sitting over there are my daughters. All of them are excellent scholars and soldiers, and are excellent in court. I hope that they are to the princes' liking.”
