Chapter 6

"I beg you to let my younger brother go. I beg you, if you want to kill me, then let my younger brother live!"

It felt that someone was already approaching and the older brother was pleading.

"Hmmp!" the rough voice sounded out, followed by heavy breathes. Xia Mo closed her eyes, and in her hands, the tree branch was moving up and down slowly in a very small motion and it looked as though it was a serene view.

"Ah!" the older brother shouted, followed by another crying voice," Don't kill my brother! Don't!" And these two voices resonated between each other.

Xia Mo was quite touched by the strong bond between the two brothers and in this situation, these actions were clearly being displayed.

The struggle below her continued for a period of time and Xia Mo was surprised by it. The two brothers were quite thin and weak, and the man had some decent strength, how come the battle had not ended yet?

Due to her curiosity, she peeked below and saw that the two brothers had been hugging to the legs of the man. Both are being beaten bloody, and looked like even if the battle had not ended, they would not last long anyway. And indeed, they did not move after sometime.

It looked like they were eliminated. Life had just been lost. Xia Mo wanted to smile but decided to stop it.

In DUST, after the characters died, the cold chamber which hold the player will be destroyed in a short period of time. However, the corpses of the players would still remain for some time. In the starter village map, the corpse would still remain for an hour, and then removed by the game system. This was actually a kind gesture by the game company as the friends, relatives, or family members of the deceased could have some time to bury the body or reminisce about the times that they were together. On the other hand, it allowed the living ample time to search the corpse for any items.

Both brothers were motionless, but they were still hugging the legs of the man, and very unwilling to release their grip. The man held his plank had started panting so heavily that even Xia Mo could felt his exhaustion. The man lifted his right feet and tried to kick the older brother's corpse away. However, it was unsuccessful. It infuriated him and he used his plank to ply away the corpse from his leg and the corpse was removed.

The corpse was like a ball and rolled around a few rounds before coming to a stop.

After kicking the older brother's corpse, the man started to think of how to remove the other one. Since the younger brother's corpse was smaller and lighter, he managed to get rid of it by one hard kick.

Without any more burdens on the man, the man bent down and put both hands on his knees to breathe for more air. He looked extremely drained out. He stood for a while and then sat down with his head down to regulate his breathing. He then struggled to stand up and looked at his surroundings and left.

Xia Mo sat on the tree for a while more to wait for the surroundings to quieten down. She landed on the ground steadily by sliding down the tree when she saw no one nearby.

She took out the few porcupines in her inventory and tossed them away. Xia Mo walked towards the older brother corpse, and looked at it emotionlessly. He looked very young, maybe 18 or 19 years old, and honest looking boy. Xia Mo looked at the slim built of the corpse and she sighed. Allowing such a player to join the game was no different from suicide.

She was numb to such feelings and no longer looked at him.

Suddenly, she felt her leg being grabbed.

Xia Mo was shocked and reactively kicked her leg. But she felt something soft and landed on the ground. She focused her attention and saw that it was the younger brother and he was still alive. Most probably, he was just knocked unconscious by the man. And he woke up and decided to grab her leg when she was near him.

Although she used her own strength in her kick, her Strength attribute was still too low, so it did not cause much damage to the younger brother. He was still on the ground and his shoulder was still shaking uncontrollably.

Xia Mo sighed and was fortunate that he was not dead.

This was not Xia Mo's kind intentions. Because in DUST, there was a hidden rule that if one kills the first player, the winner will receive half of the attributes from the defeated. Therefore, she hoped that the first player she defeated would be a strong one, but not weak players like the two brothers, and wasted her precious "first" chance.

Although the younger brother was still alive, however, it looked like he might die later. If he died this way, the system would recognize that his death would be caused by her, and counted as her first kill. Xia Mo frowned and was angry at the same time, what did she get herself into?
