Chapter 410 Speechless

Even though Xiang Ning hadn’t drawn all of the beasts away, most of them had their attention concentrated on him. Some of the beasts were still chasing him while the other beasts continued stampeding ahead.

After thirty minutes, the last beast had disappeared from view. Gu Kun shouted for Xiang Ning, but there was no reply. He walked out from the Frost Wolf’s protection and saw that the road had been smashed to smithereens. There were numerous beast tracks, some of them had even left craters on the road. Gu Kun oriented the team before heading toward their destination. “Come, we need to move now.”

“Don’t we need to find Xiang Ning?” Chu Long was scanning the area as he tried to see where Xiang Ning ran off to.

“No need. Based on the direction of the broken trees, Xiang Ning must’ve headed that way, which is more or less in the same direction we needed to go.” Gu Kun pointed at the broken trees. Their destination was indeed just fifty kilometers away. They needed to head there fast. It was only fifty kilometers; with their speed, they should arrive soon in a few hours.

The Frost Wolf suddenly stood up and looked backward. Its face was grave, as if a strong enemy was approaching. Even though it’d been brought out of the city by Xiang Ning, it still remembered the ominous aura that it had sensed within the city.

“What’s wrong?” Gu Kun may not be able to communicate with the Frost Wolf, but the fear it was exhibiting was stronger than when the beasts had been walking past them. He suddenly remembered that their journey had been delayed by half an hour. The realization hit him hard.

“Fuck! It’s one thing after another! We need to move quickly, the Seven Deadly Sins are approaching!” Gu Kun shouted.

Just as he shouted, another explosion rang out. It was very… familiar. Chu Long was just about to say that the cultists might not reach them so fast, but the explosion shut him up.

Only the cultists would be stupid enough to go and step on a land mine. As for the beasts, they would usually avoid them after smelling the scent of humans and metal underneath the ground.

“Move. Now!” Gu Kun started running. He looked in the direction of the cultists and somewhat understood what Xiang Ning had been saying. It seemed that the third party wasn’t hostile to them.

That was because it was impossible for Xiang Ning to lay a trap so far away.

......

Thirty minutes ago, Lan Quan had looked in the direction Xiang Ning had run off in and signaled his men to follow him. “Let’s move.” He turned and looked at the Frost Wolf for a moment before starting to move.

“Lan Quan, should we set some traps?”

“Why?”

“The Seven Deadly Sins are approaching. They might catch up.”

It wasn’t because they truly cared. It was just that they wanted to have some fun. They had been laying so many traps for the cultists that it just didn’t feel right to not do it anymore.

Lan Quan slowed down his pace, but said nothing. Everyone took it as a yes and happily laid some traps. They were so excited that they might have laid down too much….

Two minutes after they had set the traps, the cultists arrived. They also saw the beasts moving around. “Looks like we’re lucky. The stampede should be moving for ten minutes or so. And look, there’s even signs of a fight. Looks like we’re close to the people from the Federation.”

They were indeed just a kilometer or two away from Gu Kun and the rest. If they had looked carefully, they would have seen a Frost Wolf laying down motionlessly.

“Hah! Let’s see where else you can run!” Lord Vulture’s clothes were already as tattered as a beggar’s. The rest of them were the same too. Some of them even had their hair fried off or puffed out into an afro. While they passed by a lake, the cultist didn’t bother flattening his hair. It seemed that he was satisfied with it.

Though that cultist may have been satisfied with his new hairstyle, the rest were still extremely miserable.

“If I get my hands on them, I’ll let them know the pain of being electrocuted!”

“If their hair isn’t standing up by the time we’re done electrocuting them, I’ll go eat shit instead!”

Their brains appeared to have been fried by the electricity. After they swore, they immediately found a place to hide. They still weren’t stupid enough to alert the beasts. While Lord Vulture was strong, what if he went berserk and killed them as well?

“Lord Vulture, we should wait for the beasts to leave first.”

“Hm? Can’t we just kill them all?”

“No. Look at that. Do you see the traces of battle? Once the beasts have left, we can just follow the trail and find them. If Lord Vulture were to go crazy now and kill the beasts, the trail might be destroyed in the rampage. We need to be patient. Our speed should be sufficient to capture them right now.”

Lord Vulture nodded. He felt that it was true as well, so he agreed.

After the beasts had left, he gleefully stood up. The rest of the cultists were impatient, too. They ran a hundred meters before their ears caught a familiar sound.

“Fuckers! I’ll kill all of you!” Lord Vulture roared. He had long since abandoned all hopes of fighting back. He just stood there and took it. They had been stepping on so many traps on their path that it was like a ghost had possessed them.

The other cultists were resigned, too. Damn, can’t we escape from this hell?

Just as they were about to be hit by the trap, they realized something was different.

“This is the smell of gunpowder and the sound of electricity!”

“ARRRRRRRGHASJZHZ!”

A miniature mushroom cloud appeared as the traps exploded while electricity snaked around and connected with all of the cultists. It was a double trap!

Ten seconds later, nine people were seen lying on the ground. “Shit! To think that they used fire and electricity this time!”

“I swear… I will… burn all of their hair!”

All of them were lying on the ground as their limbs spasmed from time to time. This time, the cultist with the afro had gone bald as his hair was singed off.

......

On the other side, Xiang Ning saw that not a lot of beasts were chasing him anymore. He was left with only five tier six beasts. “Looks like this is a good opportunity!” He turned and observed the beasts.

A tier four beast had some level of basic sapience, while tier five had the potential sapience of a child. As for tier six, they more or less had the intelligence to grasp their surroundings and understood basic concepts like teenagers. They still couldn’t do math.

Just like now, they had been thinking that Xiang Ning was their toy. As they saw him standing still, each of them had a plan on what to do to him. Some were questioning why he had stopped running, while others thought he could no longer run. One of them even thought that he had given up.

NAAAAAAAUR NO THE GLORIOUS AFRO

Also watch out beasts! The MC is not trapped by you, but you are trapped with him instead!
