Jun Chulin looked down at the woman in his arms. The woman had a small, pale face, and she hugged him tightly, as if she feared losing him.
Mr Gu.
She did not stop calling for Mr Gu.
She thought he was Mr Gu.
So in the end, her body was unable to resist against the toxicity of the love pea poison. Mr Gu was her last obsession. Even though she had forgotten about Mr Gu, she was still calling out his name.
To Tang Mo’er, Mr Gu was a significant part of her life and was simply unforgettable.
Jun Chulin reached out his large hand and pressed on her shoulder. He pried her away from his embrace and said gently, “Mo’er, you’re mistaken. I am not your Mr Gu.”
Tang Mo’er raised her bright, pale eyes, looked at Jun Chulin and shook her little head. “Mr Gu, please don’t be angry. I’m sorry. I will not forget about you the next time. I will make sure to remember you. I will always remember.”
“Mo’er, I’m really not…”
Tang Mo’er disregarded his words and hugged Jun Chulin’s muscular torso tightly. She had already acknowledged him as Mr Gu.
At this moment, steady footsteps could be heard. Someone had arrived.
Jun Chulin raised his eyes. It was… Lu Jinwen.
Lu Jinwen was wearing a black cashmere coat. He was wearing a business vest underneath and had forgone the usual suit. There was a clean, white s.h.i.+rt beneath the business vest. He walked ahead steadily, with Butler Ye following him.
Jun Chulin’s tall and handsome body straightened subconsciously. Twenty years ago, this man evicted the King out of Karghalik. His name was on everyone’s lips for generations. This man was a demon.
After so many years, this was the first time that Jun Chulin had seen this… legendary man.
Lu Jinwen stopped in front of Jun Chulin. His deep, almond-shaped eyes glanced at Tang Mo’er, and his gaze then fell onto Jun Chulin. His cold lips curved slightly, and he said in a low voice, “You are from the Jun Family?”
Jun Chulin looked handsome and refined. He answered politely, “Uncle Jin, good to see you.”
Lu Jinwen nodded. Those deep, almond-shaped eyes did not reveal any emotion. “It has been so many years. How had the Jun Family been?” His voice was indolent, with the air of an elder asking after a junior.
How had the Jun Family been?
Jun Chulin curved his lips when he heard this question. “Uncle Jin, are you asking about my father, or… my uncle?”
There were two brothers in the Jun Family. Jun Chulin’s father was the older brother, and he also had a younger brother.
Lu Jinwen’s handsome, chiseled face was composed, and he did not even raise an eyebrow and replied with two words. “Your uncle.”
Jun Chulin laughed. “Uncle Jin, my uncle was a fine and talented young man. That year, after the whole of the Jun Family moved to Country Z, my uncle became the Earl of the King of Country Z. Two years later, when the King pa.s.sed away due to sickness, Country Z was handed over to my uncle. My uncle has ruled Country Z all these years and his good name has spread far. He is our most n.o.ble King.”
Lu Jinwen listened, not showing any emotion. He glanced down at the black leather gloves in his hands and pa.s.sed them to Butler Ye, who was behind him.
At this moment, Jun Chulin changed the topic. “However, my uncle has been a devoted lover his whole life. He has not married, let alone had a child. There is a portrait in his room, and he gazes at this portrait every day and night dreaming away. The citizens of Country Z do not know the ident.i.ty of this fairy in the portrait, who has mesmerized my uncle for so many years, and caused my uncle to pine for his lover his whole life.”
Jun Chulin had just finished his statement, and Lu Jinwen’s action of pa.s.sing the gloves froze in mid-air. Something flashed across his deep, almond-shaped eyes.
However, it was too fast and disappeared almost immediately. One could not fathom what he was thinking about.
The aura he exuded was cold. Only someone like him, who had experienced the vicissitudes of life, could exude a sinister presence which left one fearful.
At this juncture, a tall and handsome figure appeared. It was Gu Mohan.
Gu Mohan was holding a doc.u.ment with his long fingers. His deep and narrow eyes landed squarely on Jun Chulin, and… the woman in Jun Chulin’s embrace.
“Mo’er, what are you doing?”
When Tang Mo’er heard someone calling “Mo’er”, she slowly turned her head and glanced towards Gu Mohan.
She looked at him for two seconds, then turned her head to look at Jun Chulin and asked softly, “Mr Gu, who is he? Is he my friend?”
“…”
Jun Chulin did not answer. His eyes collided with Gu Mohan’s and sparks ensued.
At this point, Gu Mohan walked over. His low voice was laced with a tinge of adoration. “Mo’er, you’ve made a mistake. He is Jun Chulin, not Mr Gu. I am Mr Gu. Come, come here.”
He looked at Tang Mo’er and held his strong arms apart, waiting for her to fall into his embrace.
Tang Mo’er looked at Gu Mohan in confusion and raised her head to look at Jun Chulin. She stretched out two pale fingers, tugged at Jun Chulin’s sleeve and asked in a hushed voice. “Mr Gu, who is this man? Is he a cheat?”
Gu Mohan’s breathing suddenly became heavy. His Mo’er had called him a cheat.
She did not believe he was Mr Gu and still thought Jun Chulin was him.
“Sir, Young Madam!” At this juncture, Auntie Wu hurriedly ran over.
Gu Mohan’s deep piercing eyes glanced at Auntie Wu.
Auntie Wu froze with the warm milk in her hand. She knew she had committed a mistake again. She should not have let Young Madam leave her sight.
Gu Mohan’s handsome face was sombre. His muscular chest was heaving, and he attempted to suppress the rage within him. It was alright. He told himself again that he would be alright, and that he would gradually coax her back to his side.
He could not frighten her now and cause her to become wary towards him.
“Mo’er, I am really Mr Gu. Come back to my side. Be good and let me hug you.”
Tang Mo’er whipped her head around and looked at Gu Mohan again. The man’s deep and narrow eyes were filled with the shadow of her. His eyes exhibited yearning and a tinge of… hurt, disappointment and sadness.
Such sincere and heartfelt feelings stung Tang Mo’er’s heart viciously. She suddenly felt her head began to hurt tremendously.
Hiss.
She furrowed her pretty brows and gave a whimper as her pale hand pressed against her head.
“Mo’er, what’s wrong?”
Gu Mohan, Lu Jinwen and Jun Chulin all said in unison.
Tang Mo’er raised her head and looked at Jun Chulin. Her soft voice was pleading and laced with pain. “Mr Gu, my head hurts. Could you take me home?”
She wanted to go home. Her head hurt so much.
Jun Chulin nodded. “Alright, I’ll take youー”
The word “home” had not been uttered yet, but Tang Mo’er’s vision became black and she fainted.
“Mo’er!” Jun Chulin yelled and stretched out his arm to catch Tang Mo’er.
But at this moment, there was another strong arm that was faster than his in reaching out. Gu Mohan enveloped Tang Mo’er’s delicate body in his warm embrace and left with her in his arms.
