"Have we escaped?" Zhao Ying whispered.
Chu Li nodded, "Looks like we are in the clear, that was such a big group!"
"Was all that just for us?"
"Mmm."
Zhao Ying furrowed her brows, "We have been away for so long, have they been like this the entire time…?"
Zhao Ying felt an inert fear rus.h.i.+ng up her chest.. One month had pa.s.sed, they must have been in waiting for an entire month. With such a tight defense, those were not any random swines. To be that disciplined, surely they must have undergone some strict training.
The Raging Tigers were not a normal troupe. They must have been very angry at this point. They were planning to kill the two of them no matter what.
"There was probably someone important among the people we killed," Chu Li whispered.
"If that's the case…" Zhao Ying suddenly realized and said, "Could we have possibly killed something along the lines of the head of the troupe?"
"Very possible," Chu Li smiled.
He guessed that the problem probably stemmed from one of the three bald men that he killed. He remembered one of them was called the 'Tenth Master'. Did that mean that the man was the tenth master of the family? What an interesting proposition.
"Those people are just abhorrent!" Zhao Ying angrily remarked.
The amount of women being abused and men killed by the Raging Tiger could not be counted. If they were left alone in the world to do whatever they pleased, G.o.d would truly be blind!
"Our mission this time is top secret."
"...Hmm!"
"Train well, one day, when your martial arts is good enough, we will get rid of this troupe!"
"And when will that be?" Zhao Ying said unwillingly.
"Even if I became an innate master, there are also other innate masters in the Raging Tiger!"
"There is always a way." Chu Li said.
Zhao Ying rolled her eyes and furrowed her brows as she went into deep thought, trying to figure out a way to get rid of the Raging Tiger troupe.
After they had rested, she suddenly felt the urge to go to the toilet. She looked at Chu Li, embarra.s.sed.
Chu Li activated the Omniscient Mirror and checked in a three mile radius. There were no sign of enemies but this was only temporary. The Raging Tigers would not only set up an ambush in one side, there were probably multiple layers to their ambush, they could not afford to be careless.
Zhao Ying looked at Chu Li again.
Chu Li thought something was strange, he turned and looked at her.
Zhao Ying blushed.
"I will leave for a bit," she whispered.
Chu Li was startled, he immediately understood what she meant.
"Don't go too far, don't be careless."
"Mmm." Zhao Ying nodded and ran away.
She knew that Chu Li's skill was deep, if she used the toilet too close, he could definitely hear it. It would be too embarra.s.sing! She ran further out to use the toilet.
Chu Li could not help but to deactivate his Omniscient Mirror. Or it would have been too nasty of him.
Chu Li furrowed his brows after a few moments. What was she doing taking so long?
He stopped himself from thinking about it and did not use the Omniscient Mirror. After a long while, he could not wait for any longer, and activated the Omniscient Mirror. Zhao Ying could not be found anywhere within the three miles!
His heart sank. He quickly stood up.
He increased the power of the Omniscient Mirror and followed her footprints. He stopped in front of a pine tree. There were footprints of another person, it was very hard to tell. People with normal vision would have missed it, but the Omniscient Mirror definitely did not!
Chu Li estimated the level of the man's levitation. It must have been really high, and his inner strength must be very thick. The man was definitely an innate master!
This was too timely!
The innate master must have chased them until then. Once the Mirror was deactivated, he immediately went out to get Zhao Ying!
Chu Li took a deep breath and got really angry. He was very worried. What mattered most now was to save Zhao Ying. He could not imagine what would happen to her. Thinking about how bad it was for her to fall into the Raging Tigers, he started to fall into a panic.
His heart was panicked but his mind was as calm as ice.
Chu Li activated the Omniscient Mirror, and tracked the footprints left behind by the innate master. The opponent's levitation was top cla.s.s. Even with Zhao Ying in tow, his footprints were almost invisible. Chu Li could only perceive the footprints thanks to the Omniscient Mirror.
He was fast as lightning, but he was unable to catch up. He was too far behind.
Chu Li sighed to himself. Seemed like the only thing he could do now was to charge into the Raging Tiger Mountain.
He was not completely confident about charging in, but in this situation, it was impossible for him to ask for help. He had to do it himself. Zhao Ying had no time to spare, or else something bad would happen and that would probably make him regret for the rest of his life.
He tracked for more than ten miles. His facial complexion changed. There were a line a people blocking the front, with both cliffs over to the side. He had no choice but to face them.
Twenty four people, and each of them held a long knife. They looked fierce and bold, it can be told that they must have killed quite a lot of people. There was probably more than one that died on each of their hands. How many people did the Raging Tiger troupe actually kill?
"Young man.." A large man stepped in front. He pointed at Chu Li with his knife.
"Stand there."
All the other men rushed towards him with their knives.
Chu Li, whose Omniscient Mirror was still active, could tell that these men would rather kill the wrong person than let the right one go free. They were planning on killing any male or female that held a weapon.
His face darkened. He thought of the amount of people this troupe had actually killed. He had not killed any innocents, but they probably died because he did not kill the troupe beforehand! Technically it was his fault!
His anger turned into killing intent. He drew his sword and flashed into the crowd like a demon.
The sword flashed, and every flash brought with it the ending of a life.
Twenty-four large men laid on the ground, grasping their necks. They were coughing up blood as it spurt out of their throat, releasing a pungent, b.l.o.o.d.y scent.
Chu Li wiped his sword on one of their sleeves. He shook his own body to rid of the blood and entrails, and continued his journey.
The martial arts of all twenty-four men were not that bad, but all of them were below innate mastery. They were nothing but a large target for an archer. Cutting them down was like cutting down vegetables.
Chu Li felt satisfied, nothing was suppressed. He lightly followed the footprints. After another ten miles and he came to a paG.o.da. It was a small resting place. All the paint had come off and the stones were damaged, it seemed to be covered with scars from the wind and the rain.
There was a man in green clothing standing at the paG.o.da. He looked attractive. His s.h.i.+rt that floated along with the wind made him stand out.
Chu Li levitated to the paG.o.da, and looked at the middle aged man in green. He furrowed his brows,"Are you here, waiting for me?"
The man stroked his beard, "You're the lover to that little lady?"
His grecian nose made him stand out as better looking than other people. His smile brought about suns.h.i.+ne, making people take an unusual liking towards him.
"You're from the Raging Tiger..sir?" Chu Li coldly replied.
"I am the fifth." The man smiled.
"I still do not know your name, young man. There's no need to worry, the little lady is safe. We only invited her to be our guest on the mountains, we won't hurt her."
"The fifth.."
"How many are there in charge of the troupe?" Chu Li asked.
"Ten brothers." The man sighed.
"The tenth one was useless, killed by you guys. He had not been improving these past few years. He didn't even make it as an innate master. A fool for getting himself killed."
Chu Li looked at him coldly.
The man stroked his beard and sighed.
"But since we are still brothers anyway, we still have to avenge his death. Therefore, we needed to make a move. I believe you understand, right? Young man?"
"Is that why you can kill the innocent?" Chu Li coldly replied.
"Hehe…," The man shook his head and smiled.
"The world itself isn't kind. Now tell me, who's actually innocent?"
"Are you not afraid that with your behavior, you'll be put down one day?" Chu Li asked out of curiosity.
The man burst into a smile as he shook his head, "What's there to be afraid of? Who's going to attack the Raging Tiger?"
"How arrogant!" Chu Li smirked.
The man smiled as he looked at Chu Li. "You are also a talented man. May I know which sect you are from?"
"I am afraid that you'd be frightened if I told you."
"Haha…" The man stroked his beard and laughed, "Then I should try harder to make both of you stay now! Why not join us, the Raging Tigers?"
Chu Li shook his head.
The man stroked his beard and smiled. "The Raging Tiger is the troupe with the most freedom! It's way more comfortable than staying in a sect. We have a lot of innate masters that train together a lot! It's just pure free and easy here, it's even better than the life of a G.o.d!"
"How many innate masters do you guys have?"
"Nine!"
Chu Li could tell that he was lying with the help of the Omniscient Mirror. There were a total of twelve innate masters. The tenth one did not reach the boundary of the innate masters because he pushed himself too far. He had lost all his martial arts abilities and had to relearn them. The others were actually innate masters.
There was a rule in the Raging Tigers, that as long as you reached the level of innate masters, you could be the one in charge of it.
"Nine innate masters, and you're already doing whatever you want?" Chu Li shook his head,
"You're asking to die. Where's my junior sister!"
"In the village of our troupe." The man smiled as he said, "As long as you can break into the village, we'll leave you both alone, is that fine?"
Chu Li furrowed his brows. The man was only honest with half of the things he said. Zhao Ying was actually with the troupe, but releasing her was impossible. They planned to kill him and leave Zhao Ying as their toy.
"If that was the case, I'll have to get past you first...right?" Chu Li looked at him and said.
"Of course." The man smiled.
"If you can't pa.s.s through me, then there's no point going for the troupe. Young man, you're still young, it's actually such a waste, don't you really want to join us?"
Chu Li drew his long sword and looked at him quietly, "Let's do it."
"Ha...such a waste!" The man shook his head and sighed with a look of regret.
Chu Li activated three layers of the Infinite Sea of Azure, and closed the distance like a demon. He planned to pierce his opponent's chest with the tip of his sword and then pull it out immediately, slicing his opponent's throat.
*CLANG*
The metals clashed. The man blocked Chu Li's supposed strike with his very own sword. He widened his eyes and looked at Chu Li in disbelief.
Chu Li struck once more.
The man held up his sword but he moved a little too slowly. He watched as the longsword pierced his throat and was pulled out. The blood gushed out of his throat. He wanted to say something, but there was no voice.
He wanted to berate Chu Li for mounting a sneak attack. Truly despicable.
There was a weird inner energy that broke into his body, interrupting his own channeling of inner energy. Due to that split second interruption, his body stopped long enough for the longsword to connect.
Chu Li pulled out his sword and stepped back. He quietly looked at the man. "Don't worry, all of your brothers will go with you!"
*COUGH, COUGH*
The man tried to raise his fingers, but his body began to tilt, and he fell on the ground. His body was still trembling on the floor, bleeding. This dyed the paG.o.da with blood.
Chu Li took a deep breath before leaving the paG.o.da. The Scripture of Life and Death was truly powerful.
