Chapter 16

16 – Excellent Carrier

Lu Qiu joined the Exorcist team. Beside the three Exorcists, there were still two other civilian survivors.

The two were respectively a young man and a young woman. They were americans and should have settled in this city because of their work.

The dawn had just broken and it was early morning for humans; therefore, they didn’t continue to wander in the city. It was quite a vise choice to rest in the vicinity.

At this time, Stein and the silver haired young woman known as Captain made several laps around the more than twenty story building. (twenty buildings or twenty storrey!!!?vicinity)

Lu Qiu reckoned that to be a precaution against zombies for when they were to eat breakfast.

Zombies appearing during breakfast was definitely something to fret about.

The low howls of zombies practically couldn’t be heard in the vicinity along with the temperature in the entire building dropping by several degrees. The silence was somewhat dreadful.

The Exorcist team that had went to sweep the story for zombies still hadn’t returned …

The two young americans sitting together in the living room appeared to be related.

Lu Qiu was sitting on the other side while communicating with the system. The room was pervaded by an oppressive atmosphere.

“System, what is this portion of incomplete Blacklight Virus?”

Lu Qiu still hadn’t asked about the reward for previously infecting the powerful Power User.

The Blacklight Virus wasn’t produced by humans; as such, what was the meaning of the incomplete in the incomplete Blacklight Virus?

“Were those freaks created because things went out of control?”

“What is the meaning of the so-called incomplete?”

Does this … mean that one would not be turned into a zombie yet could possess a zombie’s power?

Li Qiu didn’t believe that there were no side effects. Blacklight Virus … virus, ah! Something that had that word in its name, it definitely wouldn’t be a good medicine to keep one’s body fit.

In other words … if the infected had a desire to kill or were in despair, then they would become a freak without reason?

“What’s the preliminary level of infection?”

Level … 4?

Lu Qiu’s pupils constricted at once.

If Lu Qiu didn’t remembers it wrongly, there were currently more than 100,000 zombies in Wenhan City, with merely more than 30 level-2 infected … as for level-3 infected, there wasn’t even a shadow of one except for the crow that Lu Qiu infected with the undiluted Blacklight Virus.

And this vial of Blacklight Virus could even create level-4 infected?

That is, an infected comparable to a level-B Power User … of which New China Federation only had over a hundred.

No, even stronger than a level-B Power User.

The plans … need to be adjusted!

Lu Qiu was hard pressed to concea

l his unbearable excitement.

At this moment, the Exorcist team had returned from sweeping up the story.

“It’s really sad that the city had become like this.” Stein shook off the dark red blood on the rapier in his hand: “Yuriy, you aren’t hurt, right? Otherwise, I would be very troubled.”

“N … no …” The subservient Yuriy followed behind Stein without knowing what to do.

“Please be more careful.”

The young woman known as Captain patted Yuriy’s shoulder, said something faintly and then left.

Yuriy’s face flushed slightly.

Stein detected Yuriy’s expression. The smile on his face didn’t recede as he grabbed Yuriy by the collar, dragged him beside a wall where n.o.body could see them and whispered into his ear: “Listen well little Yuriy, you’re but a bottom feeder, don’t harbor any unrealistic fantasies towards Captain! You don’t have the qualifications without any strength. The both of you won’t have anything in common once this mission is completed!”

“I … ” Although Yuriy was already used to hearing such chilling words, yet his body still became stiff, unable to budge.

“Heed my words; otherwise, you’ll end the same way as your parents did, who were eliminated by the people from the Church’s Thirteen Divisions. It is said that their deaths were very miserable.” Stein didn’t wait for Yuriy to finish speaking, but threw him away with one hand and went to catch up with that young woman that had just turned around and left: “Wait a minute Captain, you still haven’t told me your name …”

Yuriy covered his back that had hit the wall and clutched his teeth from the pain. He stood up somewhat lonely as he watched the backs of the departing two people.

They’re the elites among the Exorcists, but they’re nothing more than b.a.s.t.a.r.ds … such a … waste …

“Isn’t she quite the beauty?”

“Ah …” Yuriy suddenly found a hand in front of himself; the delicate and fair fingers were especially noticeable. Yuriy lifted his head and discovered his rescuer to be the survivor called Lu Qiu. The later properly employed an exceptionally warm smile and watched the former.

“One shouldn’t always sit on the floor, Exorcist Daren!” Lu Qiu spoke the final two word through clenched teeth, but Yuriy haven’t perceived the meaning behind them.

He weakly reached out with his hand and grabbed Lu Qiu’s, and then borrowed Lu Qiu’s strength to stand up.

“Thank you!”

Yuriy had seen a similar smile on Stein a lot of times, but he knew what was hidden behind Stein’s smile …

What was behind Lu Qiu’s smile?

Was he genuinely friendly and gentle?

Yuriy didn’t know. After looking at Lu Qiu’s smile and even becoming sluggish for a moment, he somewhat cowardly lowered his head

“The one that should be grateful is me.” Lu Qiu lead Yuriy into the living room.

The young Exorcist sat on the chair with a heavy mind, occasionally glancing through the gla.s.s door towards the balcony where Stein and the young woman known as Captain appeared to be speaking about something.

But … it had nothing to do with him.

“Do you like her?”

“Eh!” Yuriy exclaimed because Lu Qiu’s words came too suddenly.

But he quickly calmed down after seeing Lu Qiu’s somewhat odd smile.

Gossip … everyone liked it. Perhaps that was the only way to communicate with him and only ordinary people could do it.

“This … this …” Yuriy’s eyes dimmed as he momentarily didn’t knew what to answer.

He was more innocent than imagined. Lu Qiu no longer had that affectionate smile on his face and instead used an expression of somebody being offended. After all, the two young americans were looking over and he needed to preserve the image of a powerless citizen struggling to survive in the apocalypse.

“I’m really sorry, Exorcist Daren, it seems that I’ve spoken somewhat out of turn.”

“No … it’s nothing, I’m just incompetent.” Yuriy shook his head.

But when Yuriy once again glanced at the young woman.

The corners of Lu Qiu’s mouth curved and he employed the enticing and corrupting voice of a Vampire.

“Could it be that you won’t even try to pursue her?”

“How could I pursue … I’m weak, merely a level-D Exorcist. I don’t even know Captain’s name. I still think that Stein Daren is a better fit.”

Really? An inferiority complex, ah.

“Then … do you want power?”

“Eh?! Yuriy suddenly raised his head and faced Lu Qiu’s pupils behind the black framed eyegla.s.ses, he actually could no longer leave their sight.

“Do you want power? A power stronger than that of the guy called Stein, a power to openly pursuit the person that you like! As long as you pay a small price … pay a small price and it’s yours.”

Yuriy’s eyes had lost all of their l.u.s.ter, with Lu Qiu’s words repeatedly reverberating in his mind.

“I want …” Yuriy absentmindedly declared his desire.

Really? The decision was yours … Lu Qiu snapped his fingers. Yuriy suddenly woke up and found everything to be normal.

It seemed as if there was the voice of the devil just a moment ago, trying to invade his mind.

Higher level life forms had a certain resistance towards the Blacklight Virus. The virulence of the incomplete Blacklight Virus was very lacking. If the level of the Power User injected with the incomplete Blacklight Virus was too high, then it could be devoured.

Yet the child in front of him was an excellent choice.

People with an inferiority complex, when in despair … the eruption of power would be the strongest!

Just as Lu Qiu intended to continue with his guidance.

“Sorry for bothering you …” A voice interfered.

Lu Qiu raised his gaze and discovered the american young woman that was previously sitting in a corner.

She was holding a micro camera. Lu Qiu took a look at her chest area and found a press pa.s.s suspended …

“My name is Dana. I’m a reporter as you can see, that …”

The reporter turned the camera towards the subservient Yuriy.

“Excuse me Mr. Exorcist, would you mind me interviewing you? Of course it also goes for you Mr..”

She turned the camera towards Lu Qiu.

According to legend, the reason why Vampires didn’t leave any images in pictures nor videos was because they were life forms not acknowledged by G.o.d.

But the Lu Qiu wearing the Disguise Gla.s.ses was just like a human!

“Inter … Interview?!”

As demon hunters, the Exorcists were a group of resplendent figures in the outside world. But a puny Exorcist like Yuriy never had such a trearment.

“It’s so difficult to go through such an unfathomable event. If one were to take these images out of this city, then they would definitely make it to the front-page headlines.”

Hah … the att.i.tude of this girl was quite optimistic.

She was completely oblivious to the consequences of this event.

This was probably the nature of this reporter.

“Dana!” The american young man went beside her and put his hand on her shoulder: “Stop causing troubles for other people.”

“It’s just an interview. Cousin, they wouldn’t mind.”

As expected, their related.

Lu Qiu shot the two young americans a glance before loosing interest in them.

Instead, the reporter Dana was earnestly interviewing Yuriy, while the somewhat shy boy replied answered her questions with a somewhat ungainly tone.

Lu Qiu no longer cared. Anyway, this interview wasn’t of great value to these ordinary people.

Finally, Lu Qiu took a glance at the two people standing outside the gla.s.s door talking for close to a dozen minutes and went to the corridor outside the living room.

Lu Qiu leaned on the wall beside a door, this location coincidentally couldn’t be spotted by the people in the living room.

Lu Qiu closed his eyes as the smell of blood pervaded the entire corridor.

If one desired strength, then one must give something up … for instance … their humanity!
