Chapter 154 – Daily Life (2)

The Chen family’s sudden visit caught Chen Yu’s maternal grandparents off-guard. Hence, the Chen family ended up cooking only instant noodles for dinner.

After a simple meal, the adults gathered to play mahjong, while Chen Yu brought the children to another room to play poker.

Despite being married, Chen Yu’s uncle was still living with his parents.

Coincidentally, Chen Yu’s aunt returned to her hometown today as well. According to his uncle’s description, it would seem that his aunt suddenly got stimulated by something after browsing her social circles and ended up packing and leaving for her hometown…

Meanwhile, the couple had a son called Liu Xiaojun. The kid was slightly older than Chen Erke, and he grew up very strong and sturdy.

Since young, though, Chen Yu only felt annoyance about this younger cousin brother of his. The boy was a naughty kid among naughty kids. The boy would always recklessly touch and break things with no regard for the consequences.

Along with the Chen family’s visit this time, Chen Yu’s uncle had already warned Liu Xiaojun to behave. However, after two minutes of fun, the boy’s bad behavior started rearing its ugly head already. He began with doodling on Chen Yike’s jacket, followed by breaking Chen Erke’s crayons, causing her to cry.

As for Chen Sanke, Liu Xiaojun dare not provoke her. After all, she had given him a painful beating last year…

“Brother! He’s bullying me!” Chen Erke aggrievedly looked to Chen Yu for help as she held out her broken crayons.

“Leave it to me!”

Chen Yu had long since been waiting for this opportunity. Immediately, he gathered his three little sisters and Liu Xiaojun on the bed. He then took out three opaque cups and held up a coin. “It won’t be long before Chinese New Year arrives. As the eldest grandchild in the family, I have a responsibility to give you New Year’s money.”

Immediately, Chen Yike’s eyes lit up as she said, “Love live Big Brother!”

Raising her hands, Chen Sanke parroted, “Long live Big Brother!”

Feeling even more surprised by this situation, Liu Xiaojun said, “Cousin, you’re awesome!”

Chen Erke, however, complained, “Brother! He bullied me, yet you’re giving him pocket money?”

“Be good,” Chen Yu said as he patted Chen Erke’s head. He then put the coin into one of the cups and explained, “Let’s play a game. As you saw, only one of the four cups has a coin. You’ll guess which cup has the coin. Whoever guesses right will get the coin.”

“I’ll guess first!” Liu Xiaojun was the first to raise his hand. “Me, me, me!”

“No!” Chen Erke bellowed. “Anyone but him can go first!”

“We’re the guests. We have to listen to the host.” Chen Yu turned down Chen Erke’s demand. “We’ll let Xiaojun guess first.”

“Cousin, you’re the best!” Liu Xiaojun rubbed his palms together excitedly. “I’ll never throw cockroaches into your shoes again.

“???”

Chen Yu was momentarily startled when he heard Liu Xiaojun’s words. Immediately afterward, he hurriedly got out of bed and picked up his shoes. Sure enough, he found many cockroaches inside…

“Motherf…”

Chen Yu took in a deep breath and held himself back from swearing. Suppressing his anger, he forced a smile and nodded, saying, “Excellent. Let’s start.”

After livestreaming for several months, Chen Yu had become excellent at controlling his surrounding atmosphere and rhythm. After taking control of the situation, he started swiftly shuffling the four cups around.

Five seconds later, Chen Yu stopped shuffling and leaned back, saying, “Xiaojun, you can guess first.”

“Hmm…” Holding up a finger, Liu Xiaojun fell into deep thought. A moment later, he partially lifted a cup, only to see nothing beneath it.

“Hahaha! You lose!” Chen Erke jumped up in excitement.

“T-That doesn’t count! I haven’t flipped it over completely!” Liu Xiaojun shamelessly made up an excuse. “I’m not familiar with the game’s rules! This time doesn’t count!”

“You’re making excuses!”

“Okay, it’s fine.” Chen Yu generously waved his hand. “I’ll give you one more chance. Take your pick.”

“I choose this one! The first one!” Liu Xiaojun said as he flipped over the first cup. Upon seeing the coin underneath the cup, he immediately grabbed it and laughed, “It’s here! Hehe! This one yuan is mine! I won!”

“Hmph!” Chen Erke felt greatly wronged in this situation. In a fit of rage, she puffed up her cheeks and turned away with a snort.

Sending his joyful cousin a glance, Chen Yu calmly flipped over the second cup and pulled out a thick roll of banknotes from within it. He then tossed the money to Chen Erke.

Upon seeing this, Liu Xiaojun’s actions immediately froze.

Shrugging, Chen Yu flipped over the third cup, pulled out another roll of banknotes, and tossed it to Chen Yike.

Liu Xiaojun: “…”

Finally, he flipped over the fourth cup, pulled out another roll of banknotes, and tossed it to Chen Sanke.

“Wow! So much money! Amazing!” Chen Erke’s sadness instantly transformed into joy.

To rub salt into Liu Xiaojun’s wound, Chen Yike even deliberately unrolled her notes and fanned them before him. “Long live Big Brother!”

Mimicking her eldest sister, Chen Sanke also waved her notes in front of Liu Xiaojun. “Hahaha!”

Liu Xiaojun pursed his lips and was about to cry. However, he eventually managed to force back his tears and demanded, “Again!”

“Sure, sure, sure.”

Chen Yu then turned away with the four cups and fiddled with them. Afterward, he placed a coin beneath one of the cups and started shuffling them.

Chen Yu shuffled the cups much more slowly than before. Anyone paying attention could quickly tell where the coin was. This time, however, Liu Xiaojun did not choose the cup with the coin.

“This one!” Liu Xiaojun grabbed a cup and reached into it, only to be taken aback immediately.

The cup he grabbed was actually empty.

Seeing this, Chen Sanke’s eyes glowed with realization, and she promptly reached out to grab the cup with the coin. “I pick this one!”

After flipping over the cup, Chen Sanke pulled out a roll of 10-yuan bills from within. She then fanned the bills before Liu Xiaojun while laughing jovially. “Hahaha.”

“Uu…” Liu Xiaojun sobbed. A moment later, he angrily wiped away his tears and demanded, “Again!”

“No problem.”

Chen Yu nodded without hesitation. Turning away, he fiddled with the cups for another half a minute. When he turned back around, he pulled out a one-yuan coin and hid it beneath one of the cups. “Now, let’s start shuf-”

“This one!”

Without waiting for Chen Yu to start shuffling, Liu Xiaojun arbitrarily grabbed the cup with the coin and flipped it over, only to find that it was empty…

“Hah… The future of Old Liu’s family is worrisome.”

Chen Yu sighed. He then flipped the three other cups, pulled out the roll of bills inside, and tossed them to his three little sisters.

“Wah!” Liu Xiaojun instantly broke into tears and threw a tantrum. “Mommy…”

Taking advantage of this situation, Chen Erke hurriedly stretched her hands and gave Liu Xiaojun a few quick slaps.

Immediately, Liu Xiaojun’s “Wah—” became “Waaahhhh…”

The Chen family’s four young masters: “Ahahahaヽ(≧∀≦)ノ”

“Wah— Wahhhh…”

“Ahahaha(ಥ_ಥ)” x4

“Stop laughing. Everyone, calm down.” Chen Yu gestured for his three little sisters to control their behaviors. He then turned around and fiddled with the four cups again before placing them before Liu Xiaojun and said, “Cousin, I won’t place any coins in them this time. Take your pick.”

“I’m not choosing! You’re bullying me! Wah—”

“Okay, then.”

Shrugging, Chen Yu handed the four cups to his three little sisters.

Every one of the four cups had five red 100-yuan bills rolled up inside them…

“Uwah—” Liu Xiaojun cried even louder, his voice becoming hoarse.

With quick actions, Chen Erke continued slapping Liu Xiaojun’s face.

“Uwaah…”

“Hahahaha! (*^ω^)人(^ω^*)”

The Chen family’s four young masters clapped and celebrated Liu Xiaojun’s agony.

“Uu…”

Seeing this, Liu Xiaojun got out of bed and squatted by the door before resuming his sobbing.

Chen Sanke’s heart softened at this scene. Turning toward her gleeful elder brother and sisters, she then looked back at the sorrowful Liu Xiaojun, got out of bed, approached him, and consoled, “Don’t cry.”

“Go away! Uu…”

“Stop crying.” Patting Liu Xiaojun’s head, Chen Sanke said, “I… I’ll share a secret with you, so stop crying.”

“Secret?” Wiping away his tears, Liu Xiaojun looked toward Chen Sanke and asked, “What secret?”

“You can’t tell it to others!”

“What secret? I’ll continue crying if you don’t tell me.”

Sneaking a glance at Chen Yu, Chen Sanke then leaned into Liu Xiaojun’s ear and said, “You can’t lick iron gates during winter…”
