Chapter 431: You Are Usually a Sharp-Witted Girl

Tan Mo used the index finger of her right hand to lift and rest its edges on the machine repeatedly. The manager immediately left, bringing the electronic device with him after she was done.

With that, Tan Mo went to the washroom. After coming out of it, she saw Wei Zhiqian sitting in front of his computer and working.

“You should eat first,” Tan Mo said.

Wei Zhiqian removed his gaze from the computer screen and smiled at Tan Mo. “I thought you said you didn’t have a proper dinner yet. You should eat first. I’ll have what is left.”

After contemplating it, Tan Mo took the sus.h.i.+ boxes to Wei Zhiqian’s working desk and asked, “Will I interrupt your work if I sit here and eat?”

“No.” In fact, that was precisely what Wei Zhiqian wanted. Wasting no time, he got up and moved the office chair on the other side of his desk beside him. “You may take your meal here.”

Complying with his instruction, Tan Mo perched herself on the chair.

Upon seeing that, the memory of the first time Tan Mo entered Wei Zhiqian’s study room came to his mind. At that time, she was still a young child, so she struggled to climb up the chair. She had a tiny stature, so the chair was too high for her.

Wei Zhiqian let out a laugh as he reminisced the moment.

“What are you laughing at?” That was out of the blue.

“Nothing.” A corner of Wei Zhiqian’s lips lifted. “I just thought that with you sitting next to me, I can finally work without any distractions.”

Tan Mo was guilt-stricken upon hearing that. She wouldn’t dare look at Wei Zhiqian.

How could she dream of doing all those things with him when he treated her so well?

Not only did he know nothing about it, but he also deemed her to be a good girl. On top of that, he even seemed to enjoy her company a lot.

Hence, Tan Mo remained taciturn, fearing that she would let the cat out of the bag.

After unboxing the food containers, she found a small packet of wasabi paste and sus.h.i.+ soy sauce.

There were also several disposable sauce plates included.

Tan Mo did not squeeze the extra wasabi paste provided by the restaurant out because it was already in the sus.h.i.+ itself.

She only poured the sus.h.i.+ soy sauce on the tiny sauce plate.

Staring at Wei Zhiqian, who devoted himself to work, Tan Mo recalled that she was here to make sure he took his meal on time.

If she let him work with an empty stomach while enjoying the food by herself, her presence would be totally meaningless.

“How long will it take you to finish your work?” Tan Mo asked.

After glancing at the time on the computer screen, Wei Zhiqian made an estimation and replied, “It’ll be no less than two hours.”

“That long? Are you gonna eat after work?” Tan Mo questioned.

Wei Zhiqian responded with a smile. “I’ll try to be fast.”

“Not that again.” Tan Mo puffed up her cheeks. After thinking about it, she felt a little embarra.s.sed, yet she couldn’t bring herself to let him stay hungry.

In the end, her unwillingness to let Wei Zhiqian stay hungry won the tug of war in her mind.

Feeling hotness on her flushed face, she bit the bullet and asked, “Would it be a hindrance if I fed you while you worked?”

Wei Zhiqian was elated upon hearing her question. Right from the start, he had been looking for an opportunity to drop her hints.

Naturally, Wei Zhiqian was not focusing on his work at all. As a matter of fact, he was trying to figure out a perfect way to leave no trace of his intention as he asked her to feed him.

The fact that Tan Mo suggested feeding him took him by surprise.

He was trying his best to suppress excitement from showing on his face.

While remaining his composure, he tried to play his usual tender uncle act and nodded as the corners of his lips quirked up. “Of course not. Momo, are so considerate. I’m very pleased with you.”

Wei Zhiqian immediately reverted his gaze to his computer screen, putting on a facade as if he was busy with his work. He then turned to Tan Mo and said, “It’s good to have you here. You’re truly a great help. Thank you.”

After speaking, he continued his work.

Tan Mo was confident with her chopsticks skills to use them to eat the sus.h.i.+ herself, but not when she had to feed Wei Zhiqian.

She was afraid that she might accidentally drop the sus.h.i.+ before it reached his mouth.

It would be fine if it dropped on the floor, but it would dirty his s.h.i.+rt if it fell on him.

Either way, it would involve cleaning up. She would’ve done him a disservice instead of helping him to stay productive.

The restaurant staff did not provide her with any disposable gloves.

Left without any option, Tan Mo used her fingers to pick up the sus.h.i.+.

While she was at it, she said, “My hands are clean. I just washed them.”

“Okay. ” Wei Zhiqian nodded.

Focusing on his work, he didn’t seem to pay attention to Tan Mo’s words.

She felt relieved at the sight of it. It helped reduce her nervousness.

While holding the sus.h.i.+, she turned it to the tuna’s side to dip it with a bit of soy sauce and fed it to Wei Zhiqian.

He did not look at her. He just opened his mouth to let her put the sus.h.i.+ into it.

As he dug into the sus.h.i.+, he would unintentionally touch the tip of her index finger placed on top of the tuna with his lips.

Tan Mo immediately retracted her hand and turned to look at Wei Zhiqian, who was unaware of the fact as he continued working.

At that, she secretly rubbed her finger that touched his lips.

She could still feel the softness and heat of his lips.

It was the exact sensation she felt in her dream.

“Please help yourself with some too,” Wei Zhiqian stated abruptly.

“Huh?” Tan Mo couldn’t react to Wei Zhiqian’s words as she was still lost in her thoughts.

“Don’t tell me that you will just stare at me blankly as I eat? Please eat some food while you’re feeding me. It’d be more efficient that way.” Wei Zhiqian stretched his left hand and petted the top of Tan Mo’s head. “You are usually quick-witted. Why have you suddenly become dull?”

Tan Mo thought, ‘Isn’t that all your fault?’

While she was grumbling inside, she picked up another piece of sus.h.i.+ without looking at the type of topping on the rice.

It didn’t make much difference. She only picked the ones that suited their palates.

When she was about to put the food into her mouth, she was reminded of her fingertip that had touched his lips earlier.

Would the action of eating with the hand that touched Wei Zhiqian’s lips be considered an indirect kiss?

With that question in mind, she was extra careful not to touch her lips with her index finger.

Otherwise, it would be equivalent to kissing him indirectly.

Still, no matter how meticulous she was, carelessness was bound to happen.

She felt like she was having an indirect kiss with Wei Zhiqian each time she accidentally touched her lips with her index finger.

Her face would redden to her ears every time.

After feeding Wei Zhiqian a piece, she would eat one herself.

Nevertheless, she became full after a while since she had a small appet.i.te, not to mention she had eaten some food at the restaurant.

“I’m full. The rest is yours,” Tan Mo declared.

“Alright.”

Tan Mo continued to feed Wei Zhiqian while he would carelessly touch her fingertip with his lips at random intervals.

She let out a sigh of relief once he finished all the food.

Tan Mo cleared up everything to throw it into the trash can when she left.

“I won’t stay here and interrupt your work. I’ll take my leave now,” Tan Mo announced.

“Hold on,” Wei Zhiqian said. “It’s getting late now. I don’t feel safe letting you go back alone.”

It was already nine.

After checking the time, Tan Mo answered, “It’s only 9 p.m. I think it’s fine.”

“No,” Wei Zhiqian ordered determinedly. “Wait for me. I’ll hurry up. Let me take you back once I’m done here.”
