Chapter 418: I Thought You Would Not Be Scared if I Was Here

Yu Xiaonan and Wei Zhiqian were separated by Fang Shuyang and Xin Kaiqi.

Since they were in total darkness, Yu Xiaonan was reluctant to make a move, worrying that she might hug the wrong person.

All she could do now was grab Zhou Jieyu’s hand tightly and hope that she would have a chance to get close to Wei Zhiqian.

“Momo?” Wei Zhiqian asked while grabbing her hand tightly. He was still worried about her, even when she had a.s.sured him that she wasn’t scared.

Since he could not see anything in the total darkness, he started to envy Yan Beicheng’s power.

The latter had night vision that allowed him to see everything clearly, even if it was pitch black. It was as if the night was the day to him.

“I’m here,” Tan Mo replied as she tightened her grip for a second to tell Wei Zhiqian that he did not grab the wrong person’s hand.

However, Wei Zhiqian was still worried, especially when they were in an elevator with people trying to get close to him.

The man started holding Tan Mo’s hands when she was a six-year-old and had been holding them whenever he could until the present.

Her hand felt soft and thin to touch, and he could clearly feel the natural cracks and seams in her hand. All of them were very familiar to him.

Tan Mo was surprised when she felt Wei Zhiqian’s thumb begin to move around, gently touching all of her fingers.

He even swiped past all her fingernails to make sure.

He then gently touched all the tips of her fingernails with his thumb.

To top it off, Wei Zhiqian ran all five of his fingers between hers, and their fingers crossed.

He then used that to determine if it was Tan Mo’s hand or not.

In the end, it was the hand that he was used to.

Even though the lady’s hand was small, it was well-balanced.

Compared to her palm, her fingers were long and slim and extraordinarily soft, to the point where one would mistake that there were no bones in them.

Tan Mo’s fingers were so soft that she could bend them toward the back of her hand without any outside force.

Wei Zhiqian even once thought that Tan Mo could grab a bottle of water by bending her fingers backward.

Now that he thought about it, he decided to ask her to try doing that once they got back to prove if his speculation was right or not.

After checking her fingers and making sure it was her, Wei Zhiqian wasn’t satisfied yet.

He started to trace the natural cracks on her palm.

Even though it was completely dark, he could still remember where every inch of the cracks was.

Tan Mo could feel Wei Zhiqian’s thumb as he continued to touch every corner of her hand.

His fingers were rougher than hers and weren’t as tender either.

However, with every inch Wei Zhiqian’s fingers moved, Tan Mo’s body s.h.i.+vered a little.

In the dark, s.h.i.+ Zhixia continued to tremble in her boyfriend’s arms as she groaned.

On the other hand, Yu Xiaonan was screaming non-stop because of the atmosphere.

As for Zhou Jieyu, she was putting up an act and tried to calm her friend down. Yet, the shakiness could be heard in her voice as well.

Tan Mo was the only one who was completely calm and unafraid.

The reason was that all of her senses were focused on Wei Zhiqian’s thumb.

The numbness started from her hand and slowly spread throughout her body until she couldn’t feel any strength in her legs.

“Uncle?” Tan Mo asked with her shaky voice but not because of fear.

That was her first time for her hand to be touched so thoroughly.

At first, Wei Zhiqian was serious about confirming if the hand was Tan Mo’s, but it slowly turned into a form of teasing.

It was something he had learned from Seducing 101.

There was no way Tan Mo could withstand such teasing, and her voice began to shake even more.

She was even shocked to hear her own trembling voice, wondering if that was really her voice.

Fortunately for her, it was normal for her voice to be shaky under the circ.u.mstances. Others would just think that she was scared.

“It’s okay. I’m here,” Wei Zhiqian comforted and pulled her into his arm.

Since he couldn’t see where Tan Mo was, the best action he could take to protect her was to carry her.

He lifted her as if a father was lifting his daughter and let her sit on his arm.

It was surprisingly stable for her to sit on.

Even though she was elevated, her face was only at the same height as his.

Now, their faces were only an apple’s width apart. Wei Zhiqian could finally see Tan Mo’s face.

Thankfully, the redness in her cheeks was masked by the darkness.

s.h.i.+ Zhixia faintly saw Wei Zhiqian’s action and was envious of Tan Mo. She turned to Liu Yuehao and said, “Look at them. It’s so nice…”

Liu Yuehao lowered his head to look at his girlfriend and did not say anything for a few seconds.

“I-I can’t carry you…” the boyfriend said.

“Then you better start hitting the gym once we get back,” s.h.i.+ Zhixia scolded as she gently punched his chest.

Wei Zhiqian’s ears slightly moved. He heard the whole thing.

A smile appeared on his face. With one arm supporting Tan Mo, he raised his other hand and gently pinched Tan Mo’s cheek. “Who said that she wouldn’t be afraid if I was here?”

“I… I’m really not scared…” Tan Mo whispered.

Her body moved a little as she started to feel weird.

It was something she had never felt before, so she couldn’t put words to it.

It was as if someone was urging her to get closer to Wei Zhiqian and be a part of him.

She had no idea how to do that, but her instinct was telling her to move closer to him.

That feeling of being unable to hold herself back was starting to scare her.

“Fine, fine.” Wei Zhiqian laughed, still thinking that Tan Mo was just putting up an act. He gently moved her up a little and let her sit on his shoulders.

When he finished doing that, the elevator finally stopped. the door opened.

It was still dark outside, but it was better than the total darkness in the elevator.

Everyone couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

“Where are we going now?” Yu Xiaonan wailed as she grabbed Zhou Jieyu’s arm tightly.

“This is where the challenge will be. You have to find the exit by solving the puzzle and clearing the stages. Since this is an abandoned hotel, the lack of maintenance means there will be no water or electricity.” The staff member explained why it was dark inside. “The only source of light is from the moon.”

“I see!” Fang Shuyang spoke once again. “Since it’s still daytime outside, it means that this room is equipped with the latest light blocking technology and adjusted to replicate the moonlight.”

The staff member was speechless again while cursing Fang Shuyang in his head.

“Now, the players may enter,” the staff member finally announced.

Everyone walked out of the elevator while the staff member remained. He pressed a b.u.t.ton, and the elevator door closed.

“You can put me down now,” Tan Mo whispered.

Since the room was lit, even though faintly, everyone could see that Wei Zhiqian was carrying her on his shoulders.

It was embarra.s.sing for her.

“Aren’t you scared?” Wei Zhiqian asked, not feeling any soreness from carrying Tan Mo.

“Nope,” Tan Mo quickly a.s.sured. “If you keep on carrying me, I won’t be able to partic.i.p.ate in the game.”
