Chapter 719: The Last Member of the Liu Family
Not long afterward, everyone in the Liu family was supposedly slaughtered!
In reality, it was not there had been no survivors from the Liu family, as there were still quite a few members who had survived. However, it was mentioned in the information that these people had all been captured and were cruelly experimented on.
To reproduce the blood of the sacred ones, many forces had secretly participated in the bloodbath.
In an attempt to give birth to children who’ve inherited the blood of the sacred ones, some members of the Liu family were captured and used for breeding. Others were captured and experimented on, to try and find out the specific characteristics of the blood of the sacred ones.
Those from the Liu family who weren’t home were in various situations, but none of them were any better than those who died. Although these people from the Liu family did not die that night, they had suffered all kinds of persecutions afterward.
“Serves them right for acting so self-righteous!”
Furious, Lu Xuan lifted his eyebrows.
He had seen many kinds of killings in his previous life, but he had rarely seen anything like this. It seemed like everyone on the Holy Sun Continent praised the sacred ones, who had made sacrifices for the Holy Sun Continent.
However, the descendants of the sacred ones were killed. Their people were captured, either to be experimented on or to breed for children who inherited the blood of the sacred ones.
Judging from the information obtained by the Listening Pavilion, many of the people who participated in all of this were well-known families.
They were all hypocrites; beneath the surface, they were all nothing more than thieves and prostitutes.
The supervisor was finally able to confirm that Lu Xuan had a deep relationship with the Liu family. However, that was all there was to it. As an intelligence seller and buyer, he only knew this much.
Suddenly, a light swept over and went into his mind. It was a piece of jade talisman for transmitting messages. After seeing the contents, he looked at Lu Xuan and said, “Young master, we have just received some more information. I’ll give it to you as a bonus. There are still people from the Liu family alive, yet they are in trouble!”
———–
10 days later on a field, a muscular middle-aged woman was striding across the field with a child who seemed to be only six or seven years old.
As she walked, this muscular middle-aged woman continued coughing up blood. Although she looked very strong in appearance, she had little time left to live. She was no different from a walking corpse.
The six or seven-year-old child next to her was handsome and very thin. His eyes were very clear as if there was spring water inside.
“Aunt Liu, are you okay? Let’s stop and rest!”
The child looked at the middle-aged woman named Aunt Liu, his eyes filled with worry.
He understood many things, including how Aunt Liu had taken care of him; she was like a mother to him.
Aunt Liu said, “No, we can’t stop. We can’t! If we do, there would’ve been no point in Uncle Zhang staying behind to give us more time to escape. We may be friends with the Jiang family, but we never expected them to betray us!”
“Aunt Liu, let’s not search for them anymore. Let’s find a place to live in peace.”
The child said worriedly, “I will be careful not to let anyone see that I’m different!”
“No!”
Aunt Liu said, “How can you say something like that? You are the descendant of the sacred ancestors. You are the only person in the world who has awakened the blood of the sacred ones. The hope for the sacred ones to rise lies in you. Thousands of people in our Liu family have all been wiped out overnight because we found out their secret. Right now, you’re our only hope for avenging the Liu family!”
The child did not know anything about the Liu family, the sacred ones, or the sacred ancestors. He had learned about these things ever since he was a child, but these things were not as important to him as Aunt Liu.
Upon closer inspection, it was possible to see a big bloody handprint on Aunt Liu’s chest that someone had left there. The handprint grew over time, while blood still oozed out of it.
This palm was slowly killing her. It had not been easy for her to hold on until now.
Aunt Liu looked at the child with a wry smile and said, “Young master, we don’t have any other choice. I can’t hold on for much longer. Right now, I’m barely hanging on. I must send you there before I die. Otherwise, nobody will be able to take care of you by the time I die!”
Tears continued to flow out of the child’s big eyes. He did not know why things had become like this. He didn’t know why his poor but happy family had now become like this overnight.
“Aunt Liu, don’t die, we… We don’t need anything. I just want you to live!” The child tried to hold back his tears.
“I’m useless. I am unable to maintain the bloodline of the sacred ones… ” Aunt Liu looked at the child, her heart in pain. She had never thought that one day, she would become like this.
Just as they were about to continue moving forward, she suddenly saw that an extra group of people had appeared in front of them and surrounded them both.
One of them looked to be middle-aged and dressed in a gorgeous robe. He wore a stern and murderous expression on his face as he said, “You’re Liu Haotian right? Be a good child and come with me. That way, you can suffer less!”
Aunt Liu looked at Jiang Tiansheng and gritted her teeth. She said, “Jiang Tiansheng, you are simply despicable and shameless. The Liu and Jiang families have always been friends. We’ve even saved you guys from danger so many times, and this is the thanks we get?!”
The middle-aged man sneered and said, “What’s the point in saying that now? The Liu family is now gone. Right now, the best thing you can do is give the child to me. Don’t worry; it’s precisely because of the relationship between our families that I won’t treat him badly. I’m simply going to marry my little daughter to him. Wouldn’t it be nice to let him be the son-in-law of the Jiang family?”
“Bah, what son-in-law of the Jiang family? You just want to steal the blood of the sacred ones. Do you think you deserve it?” Aunt Liu spat out blood. She was too aware of Jiang Tiansheng’s purpose. He just wanted to take this opportunity to get the blood of the sacred ones into the Jiang family. When the time arrived, he wanted everyone in the Jiang family to have the blood of the sacred ones.
Too many people wanted to do this, with many of them having tried it already. Some families had even inherited the blood from the sacred ones, but it had been of no use at all.
Even though the families had descendants with the blood of the sacred ones, it was very difficult to awaken the special blood that belonged solely to the sacred ones.
Success was practically impossible.
“You guys didn’t take the warning seriously, and now you have to suffer the consequences!”
Jiang Tiansheng sneered and said, “I have done everything I can for the Liu family. Not capturing him to get operated and experimented on is already worthy enough of our friendship.”
“Good, very good, what a good friend. I have finally seen what being shameless is!”
A cold laugh sounded from the sky.
