Chapter 560: Bringing about One’s Own Doom
The hundreds of auras signatures washed all over the place. It seemed as if behind all of those auras, beasts capable of bringing about world-ending disasters were emerging one after another. At that moment, they were baring their claws and fangs.
“Hahahaha, this is fun! Real fun! Seems like we’ve just prodded the hornet’s nest! Don’t you agree?”
The Heretic laughed away, showing no signs of fear.
It was apparent that the torrent of auras did not affect the Heretic whatsoever.
Needless to say, the same happened to Lu Xuan, who remained totally unfazed even with hundreds of aura signatures locking onto him.
He had been through such situations one too many times.
He even saw his current situation as nothing but a minor inconvenience.
What happened with Lu Xuan caused the Heretic to frown slightly. He knew that Lu Xuan was definitely not some common being.
Suddenly, a blast of terrifying sword aura shot from within the depths of the gate of the Taichu Path. It grew to be over 10 kilometers long as it zipped through the sky, heading straight for both Lu Xuan and the Heretic.
To put it precisely, both the Heretic and Lu Xuan were targeted by that attack.
Boom!
A terrifying explosion erupted, tearing down everything in its path. The resulting shockwave swept out in all directions.
Everyone widened their eyes and focused all their Spiritual Aether onto them, wanting to see clearly what was truly happening.
The blast from the shockwave was powerful enough to level mountains. As the shockwave dissipated, however, it failed to harm either of them.
Neither Lu Xuan nor the Heretic was affected. Their robes remained completely unruffled.
However, hundreds of silhouettes were seen flying out from the inside immediately afterward. The gushing pressure that came down from all directions felt heavy enough to crush the entire place.
Everyone noted that all those people were grouped in different groups.
They were mostly grouped into those from the Taichu Path, those from the affiliated, tributary forces of the Taichu Path, and then the ones that remained neutral but leaned towards the Taichu Path.
Over a hundred of them were from the Taichu Path. They were strong enough to shake all of Earth. They all looked at both Lu Xuan and the Heretic in the air with angry expressions on their faces.
“Some level of might indeed. When it comes to sheer power, nobody can beat the Taichu Path.”
Many were thoroughly aghast. Cultivation forces like the Sanxian Sect only had one or two cultivators at the Ninth Tier of Divine Transformation Realm.
Even, there were easily more than 100 such people found in the Taichu Path. Those who were around were present at the original site of the sect. Currently, there were definitely more of them where the sect was located.
That itself was a surreal phenomenon.
Naturally, that was why the Taichu Path was able to organize something like the Taichu Meeting; they simply had the power to do so.
They were far more powerful than all the other sects and clans.
Being known as a sacred ground meant that they were far superior to common cultivation forces.
The one taking the lead looked like he was in his twenties, sporting chiseled features and very bright eyes. He had a sturdy build and dressed lavishly, making him look nothing short of exceptional.
Despite being surrounded by so many formidable ones, his brilliance still radiated outward.
Almost everyone instantly turned their attention towards them.
That man was none other than the host of the grand event, the one that everyone knew to be the heir to the position of sectmaster of the Taichu Path: Yan Han.
Yan Han slowly said, “Bold of you to dare to break the gate barrier of the Taichu Path, Heretic. It would seem that you have gotten tired of living. Do you seriously think that nobody is capable of fighting you just because you go by that stupid title of the top genius among lone cultivators?” As he spoke, every word sounded ice-cold. Yan Han gave only the Heretic a sharp look at that moment.
That was because he only knew the Heretic. After all, the latter was well-known throughout all of the Blessed Enclave.
The Heretic was almost as renowned as Yan Han. The former was secretly known as one of the few monsters to currently exist in the world.
Even someone like Yan Han had to be wary of him.
As for Lu Xuan, Yan Han paid no heed to him. After taking just a single glance at the man, Yan Han dismissed Lu Xuan as being insignificant. He believed that dealing with Lu Xuan was something utterly beneath him.
Rather, it was more like he simply did not recognize Lu Xuan after only briefly glancing at the man.
The Heretic remained completely unfazed while standing before Yan Han’s might. The Heretic casually said, “Yan Han, I’m here to seek justice for my friend and all of the 137 members of his sect. I’m here to seek justice from you people of the Taichu Path.”
The Heretic’s face turned red while his sharp gazed burned with rage. He said, “I don’t care one bit about this stupid meeting of yours, but the way you people use such an event to tell everyone to submit or die simply does not sit well with me. My friend was simply reluctant to follow your orders, yet you went on to kill every single one of his people because of that. You a**holes really like to lord over others, eh? Do you seriously think of yourselves as the emperors of the world of cultivation?”
The Heretic’s words caused quite a commotion. It was only then that they learned of why the Heretic crashed the event and looked like he was there to turn the event upside down; the Taichu Path killed his friend.
Many felt somewhat remorseful over his friend dying at the hands of the Taichu Path. Considering how the sect carried out its business, they were unable to help but pity the Heretic.
They wondered if they would have been able to defy such a powerful entity looming over them.
Yan Han simply glanced at the Heretic without saying a word. He was not directly involved with what happened, but he might as well have been.
Furthermore, that was considered to be rather normal. The Blessed Enclave was a small place and the people in there had been developing for ages. That meant everyone’s fates were intertwined in one way or another.
Regardless of whichever clan or sect was being eradicated, it would affect those that seemingly had no connection to said eradicated clan or sect. Something like that happening was hardly noteworthy.
If a clan or a sect were to be wary of everything, they would have ultimately ended up with nothing.
Such a matter was utterly beneath Yan Han’s notice, even if the incident involved the Heretic, whom he personally was rather wary of.
Yan Han coldly added, “Hmph. Well then, Heretic. We are now in a golden age unlike any other that came before, and it is now the key to our return to and conquer Earth. It’s true that the Taichu Path had been doing this for our own interests, but did it not also benefit anyone else involved? Would any of us not be nobles of the new world by the time we return? Would there be any force that wouldn’t be tens to hundreds of times larger than they are now?”
“Even so, they chose to stick to the old ways, refusing to adapt and change with the times. What those people are doing is no different from ants trying to shake trees; they were the ones who brought about their own doom.”
