Chapter 330: Awakening after a Month
On the other side was an area in the ice of the south pole that spent the whole day literally buried by collapsing glaciers.
Lu Xuan felt his body ready to tear apart.
He managed to prematurely detonate the missile while it was still mid-air, allowing him to escape death instead of being directly hit. However, the resulting shockwave and super high temperatures still instantly injured him severely.
The glacier that was brought down by the explosion had also pinned him down entirely.
Anyone else in such a situation would have probably died a long time ago, but Lu Xuan managed to cling to life.
At that moment, the defensive barrier that he laid down in his ring beforehand was crushed altogether. The shockwave swept him away from the explosion to over a dozen kilometers away from where he was.
He had no idea as to who used of a nuclear missile on him, but it was more important for him to get out of his current predicament.
At the moment, he felt as if almost every single cell in his body was wailing in pain after having been severely damaged.
This was the first time since his reincarnation that he had ever been so badly damaged.
Almost every single one of his cells was frozen over when the glacier came down on him. There was no doubt that he would be able to resist the cold if he was at his best.
However, he currently had no way of repelling the cold from his body.
Every single muscle fiber on his body, every single drop of blood, was about to be frozen over.
His senses gradually began to numb as well.
“Damn, if I can’t break out of this somehow, there’s no way I’d survive.”
He quickly determined that at the moment, making a breakthrough was the only way he had any chances of coming out alive.
Making a breakthrough for even higher realms.
The Divine Treasure Realm.
That was the realm completely above the Airborne Realm.
As its name suggested, it was a realm akin to godly treasures in itself. It was not a treasure found externally in the world but instead within oneself.
It was a realm where one would develop the latent treasures within themselves.
Once he reached the Divine Treasure Realm, the overflowing life force would allow him to recover from his current injuries. This would give him a chance of making it out alive through sheer unparalleled physical resilience.
Lu Xuan began to put the Taixu Origin Power to work immediately after coming to that decision, preparing to make a breakthrough for higher realms.
His level of cultivation had originally reached the peak of Airborne Realm in the first place. Thus, he was at a mystical height that no one before him reached within the realm, enabling him to make short work of anyone else within the same realm as him.
“The only way for me to stay alive is by making a breakthrough and solidifying oneself. Just you wait. Once I’ve made a breakthrough into the Divine Treasure Realm, I’d settle the scores one by one with every last one of you.”
A month had passed since the US government made use of nuclear weapons. Regardless of how the world reacted to it, the world eventually settled down once people realized they could no longer deny the truth that had been cemented into their minds.
Even having a very powerful figure like Lu Xuan being killed was but a small matter in the myriad of changes taking place in the raging torrent of history.
Eventually, the world was restored even further. Everyone took that opportunity to make further breakthroughs.
Based on Lu Xuan’s performance, everyone was able to see just how formidable Airborne Realm beings were.
The Airborne Realm was something entirely different from that of the Celestial Realm.
The only way for someone to gain the power to significantly impact the world is to make a breakthrough into the Airborne Realm.
Somewhere near a glacier in Antarctica, platoons of American troops looked as if they were searching for something.
Despite not wearing much, none of the troops suffered burns from frostbite even under the harsh conditions of the south pole. All of them were glittering with mystical energies.
Those troops were all cultivators amongst the American military. While their systems differed from those practiced by the Huaxians, they were all nonetheless very powerful cultivators.
One of the generals then shouted, “Dead or alive, he must be found. Dig him out one way or another!”
All manner of construction machinery was put to work, humming and rumbling away in the blizzard. Rumbles from high explosives detonating were heard every now and then as they broke open the glaciers around.
They were extremely determined to just dig out Lu Xuan’s dead body.
The operation went on for half a month.
As soon as the nuclear radiation around the area became somewhat weaker, they began the search for Lu Xuan’s corpse right away.
There was no doubt that conventional troops were unable to participate in the operation; not only would the lingering radiation kill them almost immediately, the raging blizzard about the place would also be more than enough to keep them from working.
Any participating personnel were naturally cultivators from the ranks of the US military. While propagation of cultivation among the American forces was nowhere near as prevalent as that in Huaxia, there were quite a number of them making decent progress nonetheless.
The US government was willing to take such extreme and drastic preemptive measures if it meant taking out that superhuman that they were so wary of while he was still alive. Once they confirmed his death, they instead became very eager to get their hands on his dead body just to look into the secrets that enabled him to become so powerful.
That body of the undead king back then alone allowed any participating nations that looked into the matter to reap great rewards.
Despite only being a human, Lu Xuan was far more powerful than that undead king. As such, his dead body was also more valuable to government authorities from all over the world.
That general knew that they were running out of time. As the operation went on, the American fleet was already at a standoff against fleets from other nations at the seas around Antarctica.
Even though the American navy’s powers eclipsed that of the other nations, the US nonetheless did not have what it took to take on fighting forces from several countries at once.
They would eventually reach some kind of compromise and agreement, letting the fighting forces from other nations into the region.
As such, there was no doubt that they did not have much time left. If they were to be unable to dig out Lu Xuan’s dead body within the next three days, the operation would eventually be reduced to what happened with that undead king: a joint research project involving several countries.
“Found him!” Someone shouted all of a sudden.
The American general looked sharp right away and rushed to the scene, blitzing about like some monkey and reaching the spot before long.
It was obvious that the American general was a fighter of the Celestial Realm, based on his power level.
He looked closely and found that there was indeed someone below those layers of ice below. It was none other than Lu Xuan.
However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, Lu Xuan did not seem to have been blown to pieces by the nuclear missile. There were even hardly any apparent wounds found on his body.
His clothes, on the other hand, looked very ragged—a vague testament that he had indeed been serious injured before.
“This is wonderful!” That general was elated and continued, “Carve out the entire piece of ice and bring it back home.”
The general waved and, to his surprise, the ice beneath him suddenly began to crack inch by inch. A terrifying aura instantly erupted from underneath.
Boom!
Before long, the ice below his feet was blown to pieces. The resulting shockwave from the explosion flipped one of the heavy machines right there and then.
“Holy sh*t!”
The general leaped and flipped several times in the air like a monkey before finally landing near the edge of that massive crater.
It was only then that he managed to clearly see that Lu Xuan, who was previously frozen in the ice, surprisingly awakened before anyone knew what happened.
