Chapter 226: Attacking the WuTang Clan
The handsome-looking man who was taking the lead was none other than Count Dracula, one of the three elders who controlled the entire Vampiric Empire.
An immensely threatening and eerie aura emanated from his being in the dark of night.
About a dozen other figures showed up behind him, and all of them sported a presence similar to his, yet it was easy to tell them apart, for their auras were far weaker than that of Count Dracula.
However, every single one of them emanated an aura that was every bit on par with Invincible Vajras.
Every single one of them was a bloodkin handpicked by the count himself. And every single one of them held high positions with immense executive powers within the empire.
As a result of them being bloodkin handpicked and nurtured personally by the count, their powers were far greater than that of the usual vampires. At the same time, all of them were very loyal to the count as well, and they were all members of the count’s inner circle.
All of them consisted of the force that the count brought on his trip to subdue Huaxia. They did not need to bring any of their underlings with them due to being able to sire vampires on the spot, should the need for more hands arise.
“WuTang Clan. It’s been nearly 100 years, and I’m finally here again,” the count commented plainly.
“Given that it’s been about 100 years, I guess that old fart should be dead by now. It’s a pity that I didn’t get to tear him apart myself and have him watch me eviscerate his clan.”
The count recalled what happened nearly a century ago: the Americans, who were backed by the Vampiric Empire, won the second world war, and the power of the nation was at an all-time high. The empire had gotten so powerful that even Europe as a whole, where the main base of the church was, was being beaten left, right, and center by the Empire’s forces.
It was due precisely to such events that the phrase “how many divisions has the pope?” came about.
The Vampiric Empire expanded furiously worldwide, yet they suffered a defeat like no other on the battlefields of North Korea.
The count led the many forces of the empire he personally commanded in the invasion of North Korea, and the nation’s cultivation forces had been so weak that they were swiftly crushed. The North Korean cultivation forces were eliminated by the vampires in a single night.
It was then when the count met that man—Chongxuzi—who claimed to be the second true zhenren after Zhang Sanfeng—the founding master of the WuTang Clan.
It was Chongxuzi who led the Huaxian cultivators to the North Korean’s aid.
Both parties fought an epic battle between them, the scale of which rivaled that between two nations.
The battle ended with both parties suffering massive losses. The forces that the count commanded personally, which consisted of many from the empire, and many other nations pledging allegiance to them, suffered a crippling blow as well.
The result had been so severe that even he was injured by one slash of the sword by Chongxuzi, which almost took out his core—the heart.
Vampires had a biological structure completely different from that of humans’. It allowed them to regenerate and revive indefinitely. Killing a vampire would require destroying their hearts.
That was the only time the count came really, really close from truly being killed outright.
He spent nearly 100 years in deep sleep after that, absorbing fresh blood ceaselessly to mend his injuries.
However, the injury caused by that slash of the sword was still unable to fully heal despite being treated for nearly a century. If it had not been for spirit qi getting restored to the planet, no one would have had any idea when he would have woken up from his sleep.
He lost back in that battlefield in North Korea in the past, and at present, he came all the way east to Huaxia to take his revenge.
“We’ll begin by taking out the WuTang Clan.”
A ferocious smirk was seen on his face as that thought came to mind.
He then extended a huge white hand and went straight for that barrier after saying that.
The white hand became a bloodied claw in midair, which then hit the barrier squarely.
The barrier was torn apart at the very moment his attack connected.
While the barrier was very formidable against the usual cultivators, so much so that it could even withstand strikes from missiles, it might have as well been made out of cardboard in the face od some being as terrifying as Count Dracula.
“Who goes there?” Many cultivators of the WuTang Clan who laid low and trained behind the barrier were alerted the very instant the barrier was broken.
Formidable auras emanated from deep within the clan’s estate.
Many figures were seen blitzing about at frightening speed and arrived below the count and his men.
There were many among those cultivators who were of Deity Level and many more who were at the National Guardian Level. That alone was a show of the clan’s frightening heritage.
The clan had recovered so drastically despite the fact that it had not been long since spirit qi was restored to the world, after all.
However, the count simply remained flapping the webbed wings on his back while hovering in midair, not bothering to acknowledge those who gathered below him.
While there was no doubt that those people were cultivators of the WuTang Clan, they were far weaker than the man he remembered so well, due to said man’s exceptionally formidable combat prowess.
The disciples of the clan who gathered around looked up. They were quickly stunned upon seeing those people up in the air.
“Wait, are those vampires?” Many disciples quickly regained composure after being momentarily stunned at the sight.
Many of them ventured outside for further learning, and as such, they were naturally familiar with the image of vampires. That familiarity was further cemented as they trained in the clan, due to having been taught of the clan’s history as well.
That battle that happened nearly a century ago was a highlight of their learning, after all.
The forces of the WuTang Clan led the Huaxian cultivators to battle and dealt a crippling blow to the Vampiric Empire in that one battle. That was one battle that the clan had been very proud of.
One of the reasons why the clan managed to stand and develop throughout the years, unaffected by the many social unrests and movements taking place within the nation throughout the years, was due to the clan’s contribution back then.
But then again, none of them expected the vampires to come kicking down their door like that.
So the Vampiric Empire is on an eastward conquest, then? many cultivators thought.
Several other figures were seen coming from afar not long after. They were all wearing Taoist robes and looked to be not from this world.
One of them looked to be in his middle age. His robed appearance made him look like a demigod of sorts.
“My name is Jingyunzi. I am the leader of the WuTang Clan of Huaxia of the current generation. May I know why are you here, sir? Are you oblivious to the fact that there is a truce between us of the Huaxian world of cultivation, and you all of the Vampiric Empire? Are you trying to start a war here?” Jingyunzi asked as he frowned at the vampires hovering in the air far away. He felt that he had seen the leader of the vampire somewhere before.
He recalled with perfect clarity at the very next moment.
“You’re Dracula!” Jingyunzi gasped, as he finally recalled where he had seen the count before.
He joined the expedition to North Korea with his brothers and sisters from the clan all those years ago when he was still very young. He saw the count fought with his very own eyes all those years ago.
Their master perished after that battle, and he lost many of his elder brothers and sisters of the clan. Most of the senior cultivators of the clan perished in that battle as well.
It was due precisely to that event that he eventually became the leader of the WuTang Clan. He was also all too familiar with Count Dracula, who was almost able to wipe out his clan’s forces single-handedly.
While Jingyunzi had not seen the count in the flesh for nearly 100 years, he was nonetheless able to recall everything within the shortest period of time.
