"Rollan, please go downstairs and I've got myself in a little trouble," I said,
The knights look at me but did as they were told. I didn't need them in the way negoiating with Knight. The man was trouble with a capital T and I was not going to win. But a deal still needed to be made. I didn't have the power to stop devils.
"I'm not going to embarra.s.s you with your new servants," Knight said it as his mouth quirks in a predatory smirk as he takes a seat on my sofa,
I paused, why did I take him into my private study as I have never taken anyone into the room. Not even Hebe, not my aunts. No one has been in here ever.
"Really?"
He eyed me as I open a door. He walked in front of me giving me an opportunity to really observe his profile. His hair was midnight black, earrings up his lob each one an artifact with great power and secrets. It was different than how he dressed when we first meet.
"The police having you put in overtime, GRAY?" he drawled.
I paused.
"This must be complicated if you are bestowed with the keystone of the lake?" he asked with a pointed look, "Do you have something to tell me?"
I winced. He knew and there was nothing else I could tell him without telling a lie. Then again he wasn't involved I could tell that he was different and there was something else he wanted. We may be able to strike a deal.
"Sadly, I quit. I'm afraid I'm involved with the stone and the lady of the lake," I told him. "Are you still willing to help me?"
"You are the lady of the lake?" He asked lazily.
"I am."
His eyes widened a little but his face still had the lazy satisfied look. It had started to annoy me that he looks so laid back and at home.
I mean I don't even look comfortable in my own home with the oversize sofas. It really was time to decorate. In my last life I never got time to do it until my death. I promised myself that I'll do it as soon as I close this case and find some piece with the ladies death. I still had questions that need to be answered.
