Judging from how the blood wasn't drying. The police can't rule out a preplan disappearance either. I understood why they called, they had to cover all the angles. Too bad it was a bad angle for me.
"I'll test this salt for you. Then I'll look it up with a tattoo artist that I know specialize in this type of ink. But I need a little more to work with, you know." I told her after pointing at her partner and her in order. "You go search the building, now. There may be more than one room with victims. You get an ID and then we'll talk."
Richardson snorted.
"Chester Richardson, don't make me call your mother," I said rather loudly,
This was the most annoying thing I could tell him. Charm magic was not an offensive skill. To keep herself safe, I believe his mother married a vampire.
By our standard, that is considered rock bottom. Even at my worst, I hadn't sink that low. The lady would be modified to learn her only child bothering a real witch. He would get an earful. h.e.l.l, if I was in her place I'd take his power and free myself.
It worked. Chester was so annoyed that he retreated out of the room leaving me to work in peace. The room had too much blood to be a proper crime scene. Professionals wouldn't leave blood or anything behind. A guardian from the council could pancake you with a punch. It is bad practice if you break the law to leave evidence like the chipped tooth lying around so you could be trace with a spell or an artifact.
The council is an organization consists of kings and leaders from many bloodlines. Built long before time starts with more levels and layers than one could care to remember.
One sure thing is they are powerful. So all supernatural fear them. They are also the rightful protectors, the rulers, and custodian of magic. It was hard to say if they were the good guys or bad guys, they were complex. They may just kill someone because in the future that person would become evil and do great harm. Other times they were willing to die to stop the evil from destroying the world but most of the time they just try and control everything and dictate how things are done.
My problem is the nearest guardian hated me. It was his personality that made me want to scream, he had the air of a sleazy lawyer that sent chills down my spine, and he always had a creepy loop side smile.
Years later I now know his reasons. I understand them. But I still hate his guts. At this point in time, the hate is irreversible by both sides.
However, there was a thing or two I could do to steer him to Diana. So she can take care of him. The girl really had talent turning enemies into lovers. I'd love to see when he becomes her sixth mate.
