It was involuntary but it was like his body didn't want to do the deed for him. She was looking in his eyes like seeing something she wanted to for the last time.
Her tears were streaming down but she was staring at him without blinking. His hand s.h.i.+vered as his heart went erratic and restless.
He at once had a glimpse of a familiar scene from the past. He was laying injured to the point no part of his body was left not battered on a heap of hay and Lei Xinyi stood above him with a gun pointed on his head.
The look in her eyes could give nightmares. It was no hatred, rage, blood l.u.s.t that fueled it. It was emptiness, no recognition of life like she didn't care what she was going to ruin was fertile once, like what she was going to kill wasn't alive once. Her eyes held no remorse, guilt or anger like she couldn't even recognize the value of life or volume of death.
He had the same understanding then, the same forgiveness. She wasn't killing him, she was setting him free.
He huffed out a frustrated breath, closed his eyes and shot three times in a row.
'SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!'
An eternal silence descended then still in the moment of all the forest like they were mourning.
Su Qianwei stared at him in shock and disbelief. He had shot all the bullets by her head, missing her head by a millimetre.
"Why?" she whispered in a parched voice, not even believing she could still.
Yu w.a.n.g who was glaring at the wooden floor that had holes by the bullets he fired, turned to her sharply with eyes filled with blazing rage at himself.
"Don't make me regret it. I don't deal well with regret." He spat with a clenched jaw and threw the empty pistol on the other end of the room. He left the room without answering her.

Lu Xinyi plucked the cherry from the plant in her balcony garden. She put it in her mouth and moaned at the deliciousness of the sweet and sour tango.
Her Condominium was nothing very luxurious but it was more than comfortable. It was a two-storey, perfect for a couple to live in. An airy and cosy home it was.
She had a small gym which she wasn't going to use, a mini home theatre, a big kitchen, a small library stocked with all her favourite novels, a small living room that was set with red oak furniture, and even her personal balcony garden!
Previously it had two bedrooms but because she was going to be the only resident here so she made it into a home office and her study.
The breakup, if you could call it, with Yu Youhan had been messy. He didn't even bother seeing her off, in fact, he left the Mansion that very night they fought and then never returned.
Childis.h.!.+ And people called her spoilt!
She hit his phone a couple of times but he wouldn't respond or maybe he had blocked her number.
All she wanted was to check up on him so she called his office where a haughty ill-mannered woman told her to 'not disturb' her Boss for trivial matters.
She was obviously more hurt then enraged, he was a friend she had sought in the darkest part of her life and now he wanted nothing to do with her. It wasn't her fault that she didn't reciprocate his feelings!
He had people who looked up to him, he was the centre of the universe of almost everyone who he interacted with him, but she had friends that she could count on her one hand!
She didn't want to lose him because whatever he wanted didn't go well between them! She just didn't want to lose him but didn't she lose him anyway...?
He was just a stubborn, egoistic man! He really thought the whole world was revolving around him! She snorted in annoyance.
Lu Xinyi popped another cherry in her mouth and rolled her eye. As if she would bother with the likes of them again! What did he think she was dying to meet him and she couldn't live without him?! Dream on.
She would live and live life to the fullest!
Lu Xinyi ignored the pang in her heart. He had abandoned her like he wasn't trying a couple of days earlier for her to be his other-half, like she wasn't his friend for months!
A stray tear left her eyes, she wiped it off harshly and popped another cherry. She was wearing contacts today like all the other days she left the house, she started wearing them when she was just in high school.
Because of her unusual eyes, people called her a freak...
Eating sweet had always helped with lifting her mood. Most days when she was depressed, sad and alone in the Lu Mansion, she would do this.
Today of all days she needed all the fuel she could get!
"Miss Lu, your interview is in half an hour. The car is ready. Are you ready to leave?" Lu Xinyi turned to her new a.s.sistant Riley w.a.n.g.
After about 58 interviewers she found this gem with the help of her step-mother. Riley was a half-American and half-Chinese. Lu Xinyi at once found connection with the young graduate. Riley w.a.n.g was mature, experienced and a very organised person.
In elaborate words, she was more like a nanny for Lu Xinyi and did all the works. From a nutritionist to a maid, she was doing all the necessary work a caretaker had to.
Whenever Lu Xinyi had issues she would look at her. Lu Xinyi was going to project her new set of paintings in the Supreme Gallery at the end of the season on the theme 'Re-birth' a certain topic she could relate to.
And the best thing was she was paying her a.s.sistant and her driver all on her own. She was taking baby steps to her freedom and was sure she would get there soon, after all, she couldn't just become a feminist from a dependent spoilt brat overnight.
Lu Xinyi's step-mother had been there in the way from her condo decor to her pantry shopping, she was present. Su Qing who was dealing better with depression and accompanied them as she wasn't taking any projects recently.
The girl was ideal, she was hardly in her late twenties and was settled for retirement already.
