She held his hand that was on the doork.n.o.b and pulled him inside. She gave him a friendly kiss on the cheek like she did all days.

She made him sit on the couch and sat by him still holding his hand. "How was your day?" Lu Xinyi asked him with a smile as she poured him water with her free hand.

Yu Youhan looked at the paper-covered painting on the other couch then the crumbled and the torn paper messes but didn't comment or ask. Lu Xinyi who was now extending her hand with a gla.s.s of water and wasn't interesting in discussing the elephant in the room as yet.

He took the gla.s.s from her hand without touching her fingers. All these months he had been nothing but a gentleman with her, not giving her any push. He wanted to give her s.p.a.ce and time but now that he thinks about it, maybe he had given her too much s.p.a.ce.

He tiredly sighed at once resting against the couch and showing the stress lines on his forehead of his exhaustion to the only woman he had ever been apparent to, he took out his hand from underneath hers and wrapped his warm hand on her cold one and closed his eyes.

"Frustrating and tiring. How was yours?"

Lu Xinyi smile faltered and she extended her free hand to his forehead to ma.s.sage his forehead to smoothen the stress lines on his forehead, "It was...interesting."

Yu Yaouhan caught her hand on his forehead and held it in his big hand and smiled subtly with his eyes still close.

She was one angelic soul but he didn't want her to do things for him, all he needed was for her to listen to him and speak to him, for now

A silence defended upon then and Lu Xinyi felt like bursting in the thick silence. She licked her lips and looked at her hands that were in his hands. His hold wasn't soft but not hard, just firm.

It was now or never.

"I am going to move out." She quietly drawled. Her eyes cast downward, she didn't know how to face him.

Yu Youhan eyes opened and his head snapped to her in shock. He sat up straighter and looked at her for seconds waiting for the punch line which never came.

Yu Youhan looked at her in disbelief after that, then shook his head, "No! You aren't going anywhere! Your brakes were trampled when you crashed that night on my property! You were f*cking drugged! You are not safe, just stay with me!"

Lu Xinyi winced hearing the fact for what felt like a hundred times.

She took a deep breath, to control her nerves, without looking up she said in a low voice, "That's no...big news. It happens in upper society all the time and no one knows it better than you."

His jaw hardened and he snarled, "It would be no big news if it was Lei Xinyi! She plays dirty and gets played dirty but... someone is trying to kill you!"

She licked her lower lip, pulled her hands from his, he didn't stop her to and murmured, "My family will keep me safe."

"But not like I would! I have all the resources you need to live any life you want to live!"

She couldn't tell him the reason, why she was leaving because she knew he wouldn't understand so told him why she couldn't stay.

Lu Xinyi pursed her lips, there was no subtle way she could say it, she winced, "Why don't you understand?! You are my fiance's cousin! It's not appropriate to stay in your Mansion with you! People will make it a scandal!"

Yu Yohan stared at her for a while then smirked mockingly without amus.e.m.e.nt, "Is this what it is about? You wanting to get back to your 'fiance'? Huh?"

Her eyes shot up to meet his incredulously, she closed her eyes in frustration, huffed out of frustration, "It's not you, not even him, It's me!" 

She slid closer on the couch and bit her lip, she tried to hold his hand that was between them but Yu Youhan pulled it away.

Lu Xinyi pulled her trembling lower lip between her teeth and looked with hurt evident in her eyes to the empty s.p.a.ce, "We can be friends still. I will keep in touc..."

"We are not friends!"

Lu Xinyi eyes widened in astonishment and her cheeks reddened in embarra.s.sment, "I thought we were..."

Yu Youhan closed his eyes to not burst out at the naive woman, "We are not friends! We are anything but friends!"

"Youhan..." Before she could complete her sentence he cut her off. He was frustrated. Wasn't it a girl instinct that they know things like this?!

"Have I not been obvious?" Lu Xinyi gave him a confused look, he gritted his teeth and shouted, "I see you as a woman and I want you as a woman, d.a.m.n it!"

Lu Xinyi looked at him in astonishment and jerked away as if she was physically hurt. She covered her mouth, her breathing ragged.

Yu Youhan saw her reaction to his confession, shock, hurt and accusation. It clawed his heart, he pursed his lips and took a deep breath and left the room in a rush. When he pored his heart out to a woman he didn't think she would feel like he threw acid on her.

Lu Xinyi felt like the base of her paG.o.da of beliefs was crumbling. 

How could she be so stupid?! All the signs were there! The way he treated her as gently as a feather touch when he was known a man of th.o.r.n.y hard exterior! 

Her subconscious was right, no man did anything for others without expectations or demands! But...but how could she be with him or how could she see her future with him.

He was handsome, sweet and she liked him in every possible way but not like that!

She was indebted to him for life and that was the main reason this was wrong! He was far more greater and she owed him! Why would she want a relations.h.i.+p where she would owe a man for whole her life.

There would never be a balance in a relations.h.i.+p like this, he would always lean on her and she would have to always bend in grat.i.tude or courtesy.

There will be nothing like a relation between them! It was as wrong as a superior and inferior relation, where in every fluctuation the inferior had to bend and take the fall!

She wanted independence not a fancy dependence with glamour! What was she going to do now?!
