Su Qianwei shook her head and bitterly smiled, "Both of us can't have him! It's just our destiny. To survive, struggle, and then... get slain."
Lei Xinyi sighed and relished the truth in her words. Their life was borrowed and time stolen, at the end of all this the Lei clan was the one commanding their lives. No escapes would help them then.
She drummed her foot leisurely on the rough wooden floor, "Sometimes I wonder why do I even bother to run when my sh*tty life always catches up to me."
The gloom and dejection weren't hidden in her bitter words.
Su Qainwei sat up and turned to her, "Because we aren't princess traded for treaties when Empires fall, we are warriors, we go down in wars... with honors."
LeiXinyi winced at the brick-hard reality in her words, she wanted to smirk or retort but that was the fact, they were in fact warriors who get slain in the murky ground and buried in no named lands... die with honor.
But what do you do of honors 6 feet under the ground?
At least princesses lived, survived in luxuries, indulgences, and leisure, and then climbed with grace to the steps of the rival Empire, and ruled as Queen, live with honor.
But Lei Xinyi didn't say all that. There was no gain but extending a vain discussion.
"You know that I don't want to kill you." After a prolonged silence Su Qianwei said in a serious tone.
Lei Xinyi let out a humorless laugh, "Sure, bullets don't kill people at all."
"I really didn't."
Lei Xinyi shook her head and laughed in mirth, "You don't have to stay in denial. Sometimes I wish to rip your heart too."
Su Qianwei pursed her lips then nodded solemnly, "Okay, I do wish you were rotting in a cast somewhere."
They both looked at each other a.s.sessing the truth in their words then burst out laughing.
That was right and they weren't kidding when they said that. The world was better off without them and they were better off without the world.
They both stretched their limbs to relieve the aches they had acquired from their fierce combat. They hissed and moaned in pain.
Now that the adrenaline had washed away, the damages were evident just like throbbings and stinging aches.
Lei Xinyi had surely received more bruises as she was out of training for months now and Su Qianwei wasn't really lenient with her blows.
"Are you leaving for good?" Su Qianwei asked after a while of stretching and inspecting her injuries.
"That's the plan." Lei Xinyi hissed again in pain, "I am tired of running. I want to run for the last time. I want a new life... an easy life. Just help me to the port, undercover."
Su Qainwei sighed at her statement. It wasn't going to be the last time she will escape, just like it wasn't the first time.
She would run for as long as she lived unless something binds her or if death binds her. She often wondered if Lei Xinyi had ADHD of some kind.
She just couldn't stay but twirl on beats wearing her tutu taunting and provoking of trouble.
If that was the last time they were seeing each other, they could end it in a good note. Su Qianwei got on her feet and extended her hand to Lei Xinyi, who took it and stood up.
Pursing her lip, Su Qianwei looked in her eyes, "You know, I never really hated you, I just... resented the life I had to live because of you."
She still remembered the contempt in the eyes of the man she believed to be her father half her life.
It was heart-wrenching, all the disgusted looks she was getting, she hadn't seen those before.
She was the prodigy daughter of the Su Family whose praises were always sung but the harsh treatment and cold shoulder were new and poisonous to her small heart.
Her whole life she only had seen the pride on her parents' face for her but that day there was nothing but disgust like they were looking at a sc.u.m that won't leave their shoe sole.
Her mother cheated on her husband, what was her fault? That she was born?
"I resent the life I have to live because of me too." Lei Xinyi sighed and dusted her white sheath dress which was ruined to shreds and ripped from many corners just like Su Qianwei's dress.
At least she had cloths in the one carton she was taking with her for show so that Li Yuan wouldn't ask her unnecessary question but now that effort was gone to vain.
She was off the radar for almost one and a half hours now, she was going to be flooded with his wrath just when she got home.
She sighed, picked the rolling bottle of wine, and took a gulp to calm her tracking nerves, "We aren't really bad people, we are just unfortunate."
Su Qianwei inspected her Glock gun for damage and snorted, "I tell the same thing to myself to sleep at night but it would never change the fact that we were scared to do things the right way."
Although having arms was illegal but they were privileged. The influential families were like in many other things privileged in holding arms too.
Lein Xinyi rolled her eyes, "That makes us unfortunate!"
Su Qianwei put her gun in safety and looked up at her, "No, that makes us sinners."
Lei Xinyi looked at her for a second then burst out laughing hard in a belly-laugh, "You should be a f*cking philosopher!"
She indicated to the pub with her finger, "You are paying for this, I am broke and My sugar daddy wouldn't really like knowing that I trashed a pub beating the sh*t out of his best friend."
Saying that Lei Xinyi went to grabbed her clutch and two wine bottles from the floor, which were surprisingly not broken and walked to the exit of the pub.
"If we ever meet after this, you are paying for your share of sh*t!" Su Qianwei shouted after her.
Lei Xinyi threw her head back and laughed, "Sure, IF we meet again!"
