He had an intense look in his eyes. Lei Xinyi didn't want to know what he was thinking.
He looked far more dangerous then she had remembered him to be.
He grabbed a cigarette from the packet and lit it with the lighter. He smoked still looking out of the winds.h.i.+eld gla.s.s.
His aura was ice cold and the tension was that thick that it could be cut with a knife.
In all the time she had known him she had never seen him smoke. She did see the ashtray there on the dashboard but knew he hardly smoked because if he did she would have smelt it on him.
He had been acting estranged and stiff like he was barely suppressing his anger from the morning.
They were still parked in front of the Lu Mansion. Lei Xinyi felt sweat trickle down her back in spite of the air conditioner that was running.
"Li Yuan, why are you not driving. W..we are getting late for work." Lei Xinyi said in a voice barely above a whisper.
Li Yaun expressionless face broke out into a smirked still looking out of the winds.h.i.+eld, he smashed the cigarette in the ashtray on the dashboard.
"I will ask this once. Xinyi, did you leave the Mansion yesterday night?"
Lei Xinyi froze and felt a s.h.i.+ver run up her spine. She went pale in fear.
He had seen her but there was no way he could have known or realized it was her. At least this was what she was hoping.
He was just making wild guesses she told herself. If he was sure she wouldn't be in his car but in the underground prison.
Lei Xinyi forced a smile on her face, "I didn't. I haven't since we have reunited. Why asking?"
She tried to act as casual as she could with the building tension and dropping temperature.
Li Yaun shook his head in mock amus.e.m.e.nt. Then moved closer to her. Lei Xinyi instinctively slid backward till her back was pressed against the car door.
Li Yuan smirk widened by her reaction. He moved closer to her and brought his one hand behind her waist and cupped her face with the other hand.
His touch wasn't one of a lover but of a predator. It wasn't how he usually held her. It was dreadful and was scaring her to the core.
"Are we still playing this game?! When I ask you something you tell me nothing but the truth!"
"I am not lying..."
Li Yuan slammed his fist on the window gla.s.s close to where her head rested.
Lei Xinyi breathing hitched in her throat. The gla.s.s was broken she had heard the shattering voice.
"I said nothing but the truth! Don't you get it?! d.a.m.n it!"
Lei Xinyi face was marred with tears by now and she was shaking.
No matter how strong or stubborn kind of a woman she was, she was still only a woman.
And this version of Li Yuan scared her sh*tless. It could even scare a grown man sh*tless.
It reminded her of the beast he really was and what he was capable of.
Li Yaun looked at her frightened expression and teary face and got back in his senses. Taking a calming breath, he slid away from her and ran a frustrated hand through his hair.
The woman had a way to make him out of his senses in every way possible.
Although Li Yaun had calmed down Lei Xinyi still stuck close to the door.
Li Yaun drove at a maddening speed to the office. No word was spoken. Lei Xinyi shoulders were stiff and alarmed she was alert if he was to act out again.
----------
LI Yaun was sitting in his office reminiscing the ride with Lei Xinyi. He had lost control when he didn't mean to.
He wasn't in the wrong. He had done worse but the look on her face disturbed him to the point he knew he was going to have nightmares about it.
He was feeling guilty like it was his fault while he should have done her worse. And this guilt was making him furious.
Why was a woman who was insignificant to the point he never even noticed existed was affecting him so much?!
He ran a hand through his hair and threw the paperweight on the gla.s.s wall in his office, successfully breaking it.
He was frustrated beyond comprehension. This wasn't what he had in mind. This wasn't what he had vouched for.
He wanted an amusing feisty woman to humor him, make a clean break, and have a clean slate to live his vain life his way.
She had been playing him for months now and he didn't know a d.a.m.n thing about her. He wasn't even sure who she was anymore.
But this...
Her initial fear of him should have explained it to him when she wasn't supposed to know anything. But she did know.
He fisted his hands and scoffed. Here he was trying to make it easy for the protected innocent girl when she was making a sport out of him.
He didn't even know her. She wasn't someone he could save. She wasn't a princess locked in a high tower. She was a mother f*ucking Queen wielding power behind the Castle doors.
With an angry growl he flipped the table at once, tras.h.i.+ng his whole office.
