Mia's mother is waiting outside of the ER. Her hands are shaking. She didn't know what to do so she first called Hiro.
"h.e.l.lo?" "...." "h.e.l.lo?" "It's me." "...You..." "Come to the hospital. It's Mia.." Hiro hangs up the phone and rush to the hospital.
She then calls her husband. "Where are you? It's getting late." "What should I do..?" She cried. "Honey. What's wrong?"
"It's Mia...she's in the hospital. She pushed me out of the way and got hit by a car." "Calm down. I'll come."
She ends the call and trying to calm down but couldn't. She puts her hands together and silently prayed. [Please let her be alright.]
She recalled that she never once held Mia's hands. Only get angry at her. [Sorry. Sorry. I'm so sorry.]
After a short while, Hiro comes in running in the hallway. He notices his mother-in-law. "What happen to her?!"
"She pushes me out of the way due to a speedy car." Hiro punches the wall. (d.a.m.n. d.a.m.n it.)
She flinches. Hiro wanted to blame her but instead he blames himself for not being there for her when it happen.
As they wait, his father-in-law arrives at the hospital and joins them. Minutes turns to hours.
The nurse comes out and tell them the news. "How is she?" "She's fine however.." Mia's mother asked, "What is it?"
The nurse hesitates and said, "The patient is in persistent vegetative state." Everyone was shocked to hear the news.
Hiro couldn't say anything. The nurse said, "Her head is highly damaged. She still need to recover. Also, she bleeding too much, she needs the same blood type as her. Anyone has Blood O?"
Mia's mother stands up. "Use mine." She follows the nurse into the ER.
Her heart was torn as she sees her own daughter next to her. (...Mia...) She sits on the bed and laid down.
Her eyes didn't leave on Mia. The nurse then rubs alcohol wipes on her arm and drawn some blood.
(Hang in there. Mia. Mom has something to say to you in person. So please be alright.)
...
Hiro and his father in law stays in silent, waiting. His father in law breaks the silence.
"Do you blame her?" "I don't blame either of them. Mia...she really loves both of her parents even though she's treated badly."
His father in law lowers his gaze to the floor. Hiro continues, "whether it's someone she knows or some stranger, she's willing to sacrifice her own life for theirs. That's her personality. One of the reasons why I fell in love with her."
His father in law didn't say anything. The door opens and his mother in law appears. "They're transferring the blood into her."
She lowers her gaze. "I know you hate me." "I don't hate you." She looks at Hiro.
"If I hate you then she'll be sad. I don't want that. The only thing I hate is the way you treated her so low than a dog."
He looks away. "But no matter what you do or say to her; she doesn't take it to heart. Why? Because deep down, she knows one day, one day you two will look her in the eye and accepts her as your own daughter as an individual than her sister's shadow."
She nods and stands next to her husband. Soon the nurse came out of the ER. "The blood transfer is successful even the surgery. So rest a.s.sured."
Few days later, Hiro never left her side. He talks to her but there are times he thinks; what if she wouldn't wake up. What if she stays like this forever? What would the future will hold for them?
He sighs. He puts her hand down by her side. He kiss on her forehead. "I'll be back. I'm going to work. Take care."
Hiro left the hospital and take care of his work. He phoned Hector. "Anything yet?" "Yes."
"Tell me." "You're not going to like it." "Go on." "It's your older brother's doing."
Hiro knits his brows. "Ronny."
