Chapter 900: His Choice

Yang Yun and Gu Lin sat in a small pavilion in a residential area. They had already been chatting for a long while but they still looked very upset, especially Yang Yun who tried her best to conceal how upset she was feeling but her annoyance and irritation were still clearly reflected on her face.

“Shaoqian…” Yang Yun couldn’t help but snap at her son when she saw him. “What were you thinking? How could you think of concealing the fact that she had a child from me?”

Yang Yun frowned and her annoyance and anger were clearly reflected in her eyes. She couldn’t bring herself to accept this fact.

Chen Jiahang pulled his mother to sit on a wooden bench and he saw how unhappy his mother was but this wouldn’t affect his decision.

“Mom, this was my fault. I should have informed you and dad sooner,” he said.

Yang Yun looked at her son in disbelief and shock. She wondered if her son had not fully recovered from his head injury and if he was still the foolish man he once had been.

“Shaoqian, what are you saying? Why are you taking the blame?” she asked. Clearly, Chen Yan was at fault for having a child out of wedlock which was a reflection of her poor moral character, so why was her son apologizing?

Chen Jiahang didn’t want to argue with his mother and he also knew that his mother had flown all the way here to check in on him because she was concerned about his well-being.

He patted his mom’s shoulder and injected some calmness in his voice as he said, “Mom, Yan Yan gave birth to this child several years ago and her son is already five years old. However, I bought her to be my wife three years ago and she had lost her memories when the human traffickers sold her to me. She didn’t remember her past and didn’t know that she had a child until her son came to find her two months ago.”

Yang Yun looked at her son in confusion and retorted angrily, “But this doesn’t change the fact that she had a child with another man.”

She didn’t care whether or not He Xiyan had deliberately hidden this fact or if she had other reasons for doing so, in her eyes, this woman was still a woman of loose moral character.

“Mom, this doesn’t matter to me,” Chen Jiahang said resolutely.

Yang Yun retorted, “This might not matter to you but it would matter to us and even more so to your grandfather.”

Yang Yun sighed. Marriage was about bringing two families together and no one from the Gu family had ever brought such a promiscuous woman into their home. Moreover, Shaoqian had always been such a highly intelligent, tall, and handsome man, so it seemed like a joke that he wanted to marry a woman who didn’t match him in any way.

The more she thought about it, the harder it was for her to accept Chen Yan who already had a child of her own.

Chen Jiahang has already guessed what his mother’s reaction would be and smiled wryly with a resolve that seemed to be unlike Gu Shaoqian.

“Mom, I’m sorry,” he said as he looked at his mom who was very upset with him. His voice was a little hoa.r.s.e but he pushed on with determination. He paused for a moment before he said, “Mom, I will marry her. If you insist on rejecting my choice of a bride, I will marry her in Chen Jiahang’s name.”

Yang Yun was speechless. Her eyes widened abruptly and she paled. She couldn’t believe what her son had just said.

Gu Lin was equally stunned and she quickly tugged on his sleeve and said, “Shaoqian, please don’t upset your mom any further. Do you even know what you’ve just said?”

His words were completely unfilial. If he meant to marry Chen Yan under the name of Chen Jiahang, didn’t that mean that he would be turning his back on the Gu family to acknowledge himself as part of the Chen family? Her grandfather would be absolutely livid if he hears of this.

Yang Yun placed a hand over her chest and this time, there was a stuffy feeling in her chest and her heart raced as she reeled in shock.

“Mom…” Chen Jiahang quickly patted his mom’s back when he noticed that she didn’t seem very well. “Mom, are you alright? Do you feel unwell?” He asked anxiously.
