From it, hot steam erupted which were fortified by magic. Thus the rising vapors would be enough to completely burn one to ashes, unless one possessed considerably achievement in the arts of Fire or tremendous resistance to the heat.
Only one main road was available for those who didn't wish to attempt their luck with the steam. It was a descending stairway cut out of the walls of the volcano and was protected from the heat with magic.
The entire opening of the volcano was under the surveillance of Clan Guards, who patrolled around it all the time, but the stairway was the most guarded part.
Since the young Fire G.o.d had yet to reach at least the stage of Purple Fire, which would per norm require about 8 million years of cultivation to accomplish, he couldn't directly fly through the vapors. Hence he now made his way towards the stairs.
When the guards recognized that their young master had returned, they were extremely excited.
"Young master!"
"Young master, you have finally returned!"
The young master in question didn't however even hear them, as he was still quite crestfallen. He just walked past them like a zombie, which caused the subordinates to feel awkward.
Why did the heir look so depressed?
Shouldn't he be happy now that he pa.s.sed the trial?
Or was the trials really that frightening that they sucked out the life force from the partic.i.p.ants?
Question after question appeared in the minds of the guards, which they didn't dare to voice out. They did however send a signal to the workers in the Fire Palace to notify the Clan Head's wife that her son had arrived.
The Fire Palace was floating on an unmeltable piece of black rock among the magma. The temperature in the volcano was even higher than the steam.
In order to prevent the younger clansmen from the Fire Clan to die of the heat, protective magic were cast all over the place. The magic would lessen the heat, but it still wasn't enough for a non Fire user to feel unbothered.
After Yang reached the bottom of the volcano, he finally reached the main gate of the Fire Palace. Like before, guard after guard greeted him cheerily while he pa.s.sed by like a ghost.
At last, he reached the Mansion of Everlasting Fire and decided to walk to his room, but was stopped by a piercing scream.
