Although the two continents of Earth were named West and East, it would actually be more accurate to name them North-Western and South-Eastern. This was because West Continent took up much of the north pole while East Continent did the opposite.
Of the nine provinces, Grand Province – named after the deceased Lucius Grandbell Sr – was located toward the center and had a climate reminiscent of an ancient state historians knew as "Georgia". So, even as September and Fall approached, it was still upwards of 30 degrees Celsius. This was in sharp contrast to York Province which was located much further north and experienced winter practically the entire year.
This aside, Grand Province was definitely among the three most prosperous provinces, only matched by Capital Province which housed West Continents central government, and warm weathered Ocean Province.
Grand Province was not only where Grandbell University was built, but also the province Ci-ci lived in. That said, Ci-ci wasn't headed home now, instead, he was headed to a research facility headed by Dr. Rai.
Not much needed to be said in introduction. For this Dr. Rai to have the capability of building a research facility in one of the most prosperous provinces on the continent, her credentials were clear.
Of course, considering that the Rai family was one of the thirty-six sub-pillar families, it wasn't too far of a stretch for one of the daughters of their main bloodline to be so successful. However, simply being part of a prosperous family wouldn't resolve everything for you, especially when the three top provinces were dominated by the eight pillar families.
Ci-ci soon made his way to fairly residential area, not too much different from his own gated community.
No one would expect such a top of the line research facility to be found here, and, in truth, many laws were in place to prevent such a thing. However, Dr. Rai circ.u.mvented these rules by buying out hundreds of acres of land to place concrete divisions between her facility and the residential homes. Then, she bought out the rest of the gated community for her researchers to live in.
Since they lived there, who would complain about their own place of work? In the end, she registered the land as a research company, silencing all doubters.
Ci-ci could only shake his head as he thought of the story.
Dr. Rai said she only went through all that trouble because she wanted her research labs to be surrounded by quiet and the beauty of nature, but, Ci-ci knew that the real reason was because back when her research company started off, she didn't have the funds to give her employees proper wagers, so she used the budget that should have been for building their research labs to instead buy each of them homes so they wouldn't have to worry.

On the surface, she was a cold and emotionless woman, but Ci-ci knew she was a softy at heart.
"Halt!" A voice snapped Ci-ci out of his thought when he was just moments away from gliding through the gates. "Please provide identification!"
Ci-ci nodded and gave the security guard an ID Dr. Rai had given him long ago. But, to his surprise, the ID he was so confident in showed an error symbol when the guard tried to scan him through.
After a moment of being stunned, Ci-ci could only bitterly laugh.
Dr. Rai wasn't only kind-hearted under her cold exterior, she was also a ma.s.sive Grandbell family fangirl. Not only did she highly respect his father, she had pictures of his mother in her office. In fact, the reason she became a doctor was because of Ci-ci's mother to begin with, who was known as a medical saint.
The technology Ci-ci used to change his face to that of Lucius Grant would set the world of medicine ablaze. It was clear that Ci-ci's mother was by far and away ahead of any specialist in her field, it was no wonder Dr. Rai idolized her.
Knowing all of this, how could Dr. Rai allow Ci-ci to so easily disrespect the husband of her idol? Ci-ci should have expected this temper tantrum.
"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."
Considering the guard was so respectful and Ci-ci truly had no right to enter without proper ID, Ci-ci didn't get angry. Instead, he nodded, preparing to back out and leave. He was already thinking of other methods he could use to contact Dr. Rai, it was just that it would be very troublesome because that woman never left her research.
However, before Ci-ci could press the gas pedal, a cold voice suddenly sounded from the intercom as a beauty that could take one's breath away appeared on the monitor.
"You have a lot of nerve coming here. I promise you that if you step within ten kilometers of me, I'll call the police! Considering how many people want to deal with you, it shouldn't be too difficult to jail you for a decent amount of time. So, I better never see or hear of you again!"
Both the guard and Ci-ci were stunned.
The intercom system was here to verify visitors the company or one of its employees might have. But, the guard never thought it would one day be used to scold somebody.
Ci-ci's eyes flashed with something imperceptible, before he suddenly began to speak.
"Alice! Baby! Don't be like that!" Ci-ci put on his best grieving face. He even teared up, looking like every bit of the grieving boyfriend he was pretending to be. "I'll never see or even think of that woman again! You know I love you the most! Look at me! How could I ever betray you?! I'd walk to the ends of Earth for you!"
Not only the guard was stunned, but Dr. Rai and the fellow researchers behind her were in complete shock.
Seeing her fellow co-workers looking at her weirdly while studying the handsome face on the monitors, they suddenly felt like they understood something and began giggling amongst each other. It seemed that their cold boss wasn't so cold to everyone.
Unlike what they expected, Dr. Rai's cold features grew even colder. Anyone who knew her knew that she was truly angry now.
