"There are six more bodyguards left. In one, two, three, four, five… five strikes of the mace by Qing Ping, all of the bodyguards were sent flying away. Out of the five strikes, two of them struck two people each, while one of the strikes twisted their torsos?"
"Qing Ping used the [Unparalleled Vanguard] and was blown about by the wind as they advanced. Qing Ping approached Rao Yu. Rao Yu had nowhere to hide and was extremely frightened. Rao Yu drew her sword to meet the enemy head-on, but was sent flying away instead."
"If those three unusual creatures were going to appear, this would be their last chance! Their last chance! Last… that chance is gone. Rao Yu has been smashed into a pie by Qing Ping with one swat of his mace… Like what a rolling pin would do to a dumpling, all of its filling spurted out!"
The empress thought about how Ren Baqian depicted the scene and immediately felt that her appet.i.te was affected. Discontent, she slapped Ren Baqian on the back of his head and said, "Are you a news broadcast?"
The empress watched quite a few news broadcasts when she was on Earth. The news broadcasts helped her to understand everything about Earth, which was why she had a very deep impression of them.
Ren Baqian smacked his lips, "Rao Yu is dead, but those three beasts didn't appear. They seem to have fled. Xie Kun didn't appear either!"
At this moment, there was some shouting at the bottom of the hill.
"The chief villain is dead! Are you still not going to take your own lives?"
The empress faintly ordered, "Kill!"
After she was done talking, she sat on a piece of rock. It was evident that there wasn't any opportunity for her to take action anymore.
Gong Zheng was shouting out orders loudly, and many of the winged cavalry warriors charged toward the frightened rebels below.
Even before the rebels could come close, the battlefield below had already turned into a lightbulb as flashbangs exploded in the crowd one after another, blinding the entire scene.
The aboriginal soldiers wore protective monocles over one eye. As long as they stood a certain distance away from the blast, they only needed to close one eye to avoid being blinded. After all, a flashbang would only be most effective at a range of around ten meters. Beyond that range, its effects would be reduced to a certain extent, and even at night, it would be bearable by simply wearing sungla.s.ses.
It was like how one wouldn't be able to look at the sun with the naked eye, yet was able to look at the stars that were thousands of lightyears away.
At the same time, wearing protective monocles over one eye when the flashbangs explode wouldn't hinder their operations.
"Ah! I'm blind! I'm blind!" Tens of blockheads covered one of their eyes and almost fell down.
"Serves you right!" Ren Baqian couldn't help but scold them when he heard the shouts coming from below.
He had already told those idiots many times, but in spite of everything, there were still people who fell for it.
"Zuo Leng!" Ren Baqian called out.
"Sir Ren!"
"Take some people to the north and find the trail of Xie Kun, the three unusual creatures, and also the elephant, monkey, and insect soldiers. They should be among the rebels. Report immediately if you find them. However, there's no need to stop them!"
Ren Baqian pondered for a moment after he finished talking, then took out around 16 flashbangs and tossed them to Zuo Leng.
"Take these for protection. Pull out the safety tabs before using them, then throw them in front of the enemies."
"Thank you, Sir." Zuo Leng cupped his fists and blew a whistle, gathering all the baihu in the forest over. He separated everyone into eight groups and handed two flashbangs to each group. All eight groups then vanished into the night and headed north to investigate.
After they had dispersed, Ren Baqian looked toward the foot of the hill again, only to see that the winged cavalry had almost destroyed the rebel army. A small portion of the rebels couldn't even last two rounds of fighting against the winged cavalry before they fell into the pool of blood.
After that, the winged cavalry continued killing toward their surroundings. The first thing they did when they met with large groups of rebels was to throw a couple of grenades to disperse them before charging forward to eliminate them.
As Rao Yu was already dead, the rebels at the foot of the hill were harvested like rice straws over an extremely short period of time. The rebels that were nearby had either escaped or were dead, whereas those who were further away had begun to flee for their lives after the uproar. There was chaos everywhere.
The situation seemed pretty positive for the aboriginals.
However, Ren Baqian knew what was happening. Even if he sent the winged cavalry on a killing spree, how many could they kill?
It would still be fine if both Rao Yu and Xie Kun were dead. However, now that Xie Kun was still alive, it seemed like this war wasn't yet over.
The most important thing now wasn't to chase and kill the rebels, but to find Xie Kun.
And of course, those few Spirit Wheel experts below as well as.
Ren Baqian took a glance downward. Ever since Qing Ping joined the fight after killing Rao Yu, those Spirit Wheel experts were fending for their lives.
Turning his head and looking around, he finally spotted Lin Qiaole sitting under a tree and taking a nap.
"Time to wake up and get to work!" Ren Baqian pinched Lin Qiaole on her face, which was so soft that water was almost oozing out.
Then, water indeed oozed out…
Ren Baqian had gotten his fingers covered in saliva, which made him want to curse very badly. He then casually rubbed the saliva off on Lin Qiaole's body.
"There are six Spirit Wheel experts down there. 500 grams of candy for each one killed, and 250 grams deducted for each one that escapes," Ren Baqian said.
Lin Qiaole opened her eyes and twitched her ears. Then, she stared blankly at Ren Baqian, and it took a while before she understood what he had just said. After that, she vanished from sight.
Ren Baqian held up the binoculars and looked into the distance. Someone had extinguished the bonfire, and now, he could only see the silhouettes of a few people downhill with the aid of the moonlight. Along with the wind, he could hear bellowing and the sounds of weapons clas.h.i.+ng below as well as the sounds of explosions that were suppressed by the air and weapons dropping to the ground.
Ren Baqian placed the binoculars down and sat beside the empress.
"Just a little bit more. We're left with Xie Kun and the Six Doors."
The empress showed no expression on her face, but was in fact feeling extremely fed up with Tianjing Basin. They had wasted too much time here, and it seemed like it still wasn't possible to leave yet.
The duo simply sat there in silence. The killing was still continuing at the foot of the hill, but the sounds of killing began to move further away.
The empress's ears twitched. She heard something.
Not long after, Ren Baqian heard it too. Accompanied by sounds of heavy breathing, it was the sound of people running in the forest. There weren't many people, just around four of them. It seemed that a handful of the "smarter" and "luckier" rebels had managed to flee from the clutches of the winged cavalry. They thought that the winged cavalry had taken this route down, which meant that this should be a safer location.
After all, there was a saying on Earth that the most dangerous place was the safest place.
Even though there wasn't such a saying in this world, there were other sayings that had similar meanings.
Running toward this place had indeed allowed them to escape from the winged cavalry, which made them extremely delighted.
However, there was still the empress at the top of this hill, who was more terrifying than everyone else below. There were also more than ten guards, any of which would be capable of tearing them apart.
Their luck ended here.
Two of the bodyguards silently walked in the direction of the sounds. Shortly after, what followed were blood-curdling screeches at the point of demise.
Yet another night of killing. At the break of dawn, all that remained at the foot of the hill was fresh blood and corpses.
Both the rebels and the winged cavalry had ran far away after a night of killing and fighting.
As the sun rose, the baihu of the protectorate began to return one after another.
"Sir, we have located the elephant soldiers. However, only the elephants remained, and the people were gone. We didn't manage to find the others. We suspect that they might have escaped to the west," Zuo Leng reported after gathering all the information.
Ren Baqian contemplated and felt that the rebels had probably abandoned the elephant soldiers out of fear that they would be too easily spotted.
"Where are the elephants?" Ren Baqian asked.
"They ran toward the east!"
"Send some people after them—don't let them get away. Try to bring these elephants back. After all, they were trained, so there should be a way. If not, simply follow them and mark your tracks along the way," Ren Baqian ordered.
These elephants were good stuff. If the aboriginals could handle them and sent them to the Protectorates of the East and North, they would be perfect for the invasion of the Yun Nation.
These elephant soldiers had a slightly lower destructive power than the aboriginal soldiers, but would be pretty effective against the Yun Nation's battle formations. Compared to these huge elephants, ordinary people were as powerless as ants.
After a few more hours had pa.s.sed, Xi Wanya and his men returned in succession. Several of them had a few wounds on their bodies. Given their regenerative powers, these could be considered minor injuries.
"Where's Lin Qiaole?" Ren Baqian looked behind the three men, but couldn't spot Lin Qiaole.
"One of the rebels escaped, so she went after him," Qing Ping replied.
Ren Baqian laughed. This girl could be quite adorable at times.
