A golden-robed woman slowly stood up in the commotion. Her silky black hair was held in place with a gold hairpin, framing her beautiful and n.o.ble face.
The crowd turned to stare at her in confusion; what was she trying to do?
The Empress wrinkled her eyebrows, displeased with Mo Qingli's interruption.
Mo Qingli ignored the stares being directed towards her. Gracefully, she made her way into the center of the hall, saying in a mild tone: “This daughter wishes to become betrothed to the Fengchao Prince.”
At hearing Mo Qingli's words, Feng Chenling felt his heart palpitate. Anxiously he turned to look at Mo Qingli, his eyes filled with distress. Did she really want to marry yet another man? His two hands gripped at his robes, continuously rubbing at the fabric.
Xiaoyao Yunyan and Ge Yueming stared indifferently at the scene in front of their eyes. This woman really was the same as before. The leftovers n.o.body wanted, she put on a virtuous face and requested for; could it be that not even the men in the brothel were incapable of satisfying her? Hehe… what a lecherous person.
Leng Hanling's entire body shook. His red pupils flashed with an indescribable emotion as he gazed toward the thin figure in the middle of the hall.
Mu Tianlang stared at Mo Qingli as well, his heart filling with anger. What in the world did this woman want? Could it be that having him alone as sustenance wasn't enough, so much that she wanted to find someone else to eat? It had only been a month, was she really that hungry?
Mo Qinghan's mood after being unable to obtain Xiaoyao Yunshang had left her extremely gloomy. However, at hearing Mo Qingli's request to marry the Fengchao Dynasty's prince, she couldn't help but call out mockingly, “Hey, Sixth Sister, have you already become so desperate?”
Mo Qingli ignored Mo Qinghan's taunt, looking at the Empress with an unwavering stare. Feng Qingjue, she could not afford to let slip through her fingers.
Feng Qingjue felt extremely angry. What was this idiot princess doing, destroying his plan?
The Empress narrowed her eyes, staring at Mo Qingli, wanting to ask exactly what this child was thinking. After a moment of deliberation, she lightly exhaled. Forget it, if she likes him then she can marry him.
“Feng Qingjue, do you agree?” The Empress's exhausted voice asked.
Feng Qingjue glared at Mo Qingli for a brief moment, but could only helplessly answer, “Qingjue is extremely honored.” It looked like he would have to change up the plan.
Mo Qingli ignored Feng Qingjue's glare, her face indifferent as she addressed the Empress solemnly. “Many thanks to Mother Empress.”
Afterwards, she returned to her seat, ignoring the glances of the people around her. Slowly sitting down, she downed a wine gla.s.s, as if pretending she was the only person present in the room.
Seeing that the festival was reaching its end, the Empress, with the support of Ouyang Haoxuan, stood up. “In the next three months, the Xiaoyao Dynasty's Fourth Prince Xiaoyao Yunbo will be married to my dynasty's Second Princess as her main husband, the Seventh Prince Xiaoyao Yunshang will be married to the Eldest Princess as her main husband, and the Fengchao Dynasty's Feng Qingjue will be married to the Sixth Princess as her… consort.”
This was clearly a demonstration of power against the Fengchao Dynasty. If all three princes had been made consorts no one would have minded, but this time only the Fengchao Dynasty's prince had suffered this fate.
Who knew what the Empress was thinking.
Everybody turned their gaze towards Feng Qingjue. However, his face remained as indifferent as ever, as if what the Empress had just said did not apply to him. As respectful as ever, he lightly said, “Many thanks to the Empress!”
The Empress had also turned to look at Feng Qingjue, wanting to see his reaction. However his behavior had left her sorely disappointed. No longer interested, she lifted her arm to grasp Ouyang Haoxuan's elbow and pull herself into a standing position, ready to leave.
Xiaoyao Yunshang and Xiaoyao Yunbo suddenly thought to stand up as well. Towards the Empress's back they both said respectfully: “Many thanks to the Empress!”
Before Xiaoyao Yunyan left, he cast a glance at Xiaoyao Yunshang, who was following behind the Eldest Princess. Xiaoyao Yunyan's lips raised slightly, on his face flas.h.i.+ng an almost indiscernible look of ridicule.
