In the blink of an eye it had already been an entire month. During that span of time, neither Mu Tianlang or Leng Hanling had appeared in her line of site; even Feng Chenling was not present.
The peaceful and quiet period that Mo Qingli had wanted so much instead seemed to be dark and gloomy.
On the day of the Full Moon Festival, the Emperor ordered that every princess and their consorts were required to attend the evening’s feast, giving Mo Qingli the opportunity to finally meet her consorts. The previous Mo Qingli had four consorts, but excluding the one that she had killed, she now possessed three. One was Feng Chenling, the other the unfavoured son of the Xiaoyao Dynasty, Xiaoyao Yunyan, and the final a proficient fortune teller by the name of Ge Yueming.
As Mo Qingli walked outside the gates of her residence, Feng Chenling and the other two consorts had already been waiting outside her door for some time. When Mo Qingli appeared, all of their expressions were different, but the uniting factor was that none of them raised their eyes to look at her, skipping over even the most basic greetings.
Mo Qingli coldly looked over in their direction, then turned around and ignored them. Instead she headed directly to the palanquin, lying down against the padded couch inside of it, and closing her eyes to take a short nap.
Feng Chenling stared at Mo Qingli’s back, both his eyes filled with distress. She, how come she had ignored him for so long, as if she had forgotten he had existed? Women, could it really be that what his father had said was correct, that they discarded the new and were only concerned with the new, becoming half-hearted in love?
Mo Qingli walked into the main hall. Immediately the previously loud and energetic hall became eerily silent, the atmosphere becoming very strange. Mo Qingli glanced over at Mo Qingyu, who was sitting next to the head of the table, and shot her a smile. Everybody in the room felt some degree of surprise; what was this princess doing, provoking the eldest princess in the open?
Mo Qingli coldly patrolled around the main hall, taking in everybody’s expressions. Some people stared at her with fear, others with ridicule, some with provoking expressions, and some not even daring to look at her.
When she saw the Fourth Princess, she somewhat slowed down her steps, inside her dark pupils a flash of red appearing, although it was quickly concealed. Finally Mo Qingli slowly walked to her own seat, raising her wine gla.s.s and bringing it to her lips, ignoring the stares directed to her by others. Her three consorts followed Mo Qingli’s actions, sitting down as well.
Mo Qinghan saw the glance that Mo Qingli gave her, turning her own stare to glare at Mo Qingli provocatively. Don’t think that I’m the same as that idiot Mo Qingyu; if you want to go against me, wait another eight hundred years!
Sitting behind Mo Qinghan was Leng Hanling. At seeing Mo Qingli his red pupils sparkled with excitement. However, when he realized that Mo QIngli didn’t even spare him a single glance, his mood spiralled downwards, glaring towards Mu Tianlang beside him, who was sipping a gla.s.s of wine. Suddenly, he felt a fire ignite inside him. It was all because of this d.a.m.ned wolf demon, sealing away my magic power, preventing me from escaping this imbecilic woman.
Mo Qingyu glared towards Mo Qingli. This s.l.u.t not only stole my man, but she also blinded my eye, even going as far to convince Mother Emperor that I was trying to frame her! Mo Qingyu clutched her hands together, her nails digging into her palm, although she paid no attention to the pain. All she could think when she stared at Mo Qingli was how much she wanted to chop the person before her in a million pieces. Who would have thought that she would have been blinded by a lard like this; it really was too careless of her. And who would have thought that woman would conceal the truth so deeply like this?
Mo Qingyu was focused entirely on Mo Qingli, so much that she did not notice yet that the beauty she had bought was now in Mo Qinghan’s possession.
“The Empress has arrived!” At the sound of the loud and commanding voice, everybody seemed to sit upright at once, turning their attention from Mo Qingli to the front gates of the hall. The Empress was wearing luxurious golden silks, the end of her train bunched together and carried by her favoured concubine, Ouyang Haoxuan. Slowly she walked into the hall, dignified and refined.
Before she was seated at the head of the table, the Empress first patrolled around the hall. Only after her gaze had fallen on Mo Qingli did she nod satisfactorily, then slowly said, “My beloved officials, today is the day of the annual Full Moon Festival. Our current dynasty’s military might is growing stronger and stronger, our scholars too many too count, this makes Us very pleased. It’s all because of the efforts of all the officials that are currently sitting down that this is possible. Come, let me raise a gla.s.s to your efforts!”
Ouyang Qianlan served as the representative of the people in the hall, rising first and lifting up her wine gla.s.s to the air. “It’s all because of the Empress’s wise ruling that our dynasty can be so prosperous, while my efforts can only be described as meagre.” After she finished, she walked into the middle of the hall, kneeling on both knees as she called out repeatingly: “Long live the Empress, long live the Empress, may you live forever!”
“Long live the Empress, long live the Empress, may you live forever!”
“Long live the Empress, long live the Empress, may you live forever!”
“Long live the Empress, long live the Empress, may you live forever!”
As the sound swelled to a peak, the Empress couldn’t help but feel exceedingly admiration towards Ouyang Qianlan. She, really does understand Our heart, just like Ouyang Haoxuan. The Empress turned around, staring beside her at Ouyang Haoxue, her eyes filled with an indulging love. He really wasn’t similar to any of her other consorts, understanding propriety and what she needed.
Ouyang Haoxuan, at seeing the Empress look at him, turned around as well with a smile.
The Empress coloured slightly, looking away from Ouyang Haoxuan. Instead she addressed the people in the hall: “You may rise!”
Afterwards she directed her gaze to the chamberlains behind her, loudly saying, “Welcome the Fengchao Dynasty and Xiaoyao Dynasty’s princes into the hall!”
