Chapter 148: Why Should I Care?

Without any notice, Lucys room once again turned quiet.

Lucy and Vivian had no more to say. They just stared at Shien without giving away what they were thinking.

Shien had a ton of complicated feelings right now.

Although there were still a lot of things he didnt understand, there was one thing that he can be sure of.

And that is, Nien isnt actually the Highest God Omnis.

If he went by Lucy and Vivians explanations, then as the omnipotent god of the world, Omnis only cared about the Demon King Claudis. Besides her, all others were basically equal in her eyes and there was no way to catch her attention. In that case, Nien was obviously different from that particular impression.

After all, Nien was a pure-hearted goddess who even blushed at those certain images in Shiens mind.

If that was true, then doesnt that mean that the supposed crisis has something to do with the Demon King?

Is there a possibility that the Demon King has already been resurected? Shien brought up that possibility to the two girls.

Unfortunately, even that possibility was denied.

Since the Demon King has been defeated by the Hero, itd be very hard for her to resurrect. Lucy gave a glance at the Holy Sword in Shiens hand, As a Hero, as someone who also wields a Holy Sword, you too should know that the Holy Sword has a very powerful suppression effect against demons, right?

Those two effect do indeed exists within the Holy Sword. It wasnt just Shiens Holy Sword that has such power either. Lucys Holy Sword has it too.

Even if the amount of damage depends upon the strength or weakness of the Holy Sword, the fact that Holy Swords counter demons is definite.

And Lucy also confirmed it.

No matter how strong or weak a Holy Sword is, so long as it did actually slay a demon, then that demon cannot be revived.

This was also one of the reasons why Heroes were considered the trump card for defeating the Demon King and her demons.

The Demon Kings powers can negate that of the Goddess. The Heros powers however can harm the Demon King, and the Goddess can summon the Hero. This had always been the established law.

Hero, Goddess, Demon King. The three existences form such a linked triangle.

Given as such, the Goddess is considered the symbol of omnipotence, the Demon King is considered the personification of power, and the Hero is considered hope bestowed by heaven. The three each represents the highest peak of the gods, demon, and mortals, respectively. Lucy so explained.

A thousand years ago, the Demon King was indeed defeated by the ancestor using his Holy Sword. Plus, the Highest God Omnis didnt want to see the Demon King Claudis revived either, so she used her own powers to completely erase any possibility for the Demon Kings resurrection. Its because of that the demons abandoned resisting and turned instead to the path of coexistence with the other two races. This too is something that pretty much everyone knows.

To this world, the history of a thousand years ago is very important. Even if some details cant be recovered, most of the major events were still well recorded.

Stuff like the Highest God Omniss aloofness and the matter of the Demon Kings death were known widely by all.

Those two existences were originally the start and end of everything. Thus, the eyes of the world were naturally gathered upon the two of them.

It could be said that if not for the Demon Kings death and the Highest Gods seclusion, itd be unknown whether or not this world would have been able to follow everyones hopes and develop to this state.

As already said above, theres no possibility for the Demon Kings resurrection.

Unless

Something happened to the Highest God Omnis.

Lucys words made Shien and Vivians hearts sink.

Thats because this particular possibility was also impossible to verify.

Lucy had also obviously noticed how problematic the matter was, so after a period of silence, spoke the following.

No matter what, the fact that a Hero was summoned again is the reality. If something terrifying that we did not know of really did happen, then we have no choice but to figure out a way to deal with it.

How should they deal with it then?

Ill go take a trip to the divine realm soon and see if I can learn some things from the gods I know. Lucy so decided, Of course, Ill also go see the goddess of fate and discuss things with her. See if I can get some kind of help there.

The gods are a very rigidly stratified race after all.

For the gods, Highest God Omniss words are absolute laws. Even if something like a catastrophe that drove the gods to near extinction did happen, likely none of the goddess would dare to barge in without the Highest God Omniss permissions, right?

To others, such a thing might be a very serious matter, but for the Highest God Omnis, its basically nothing. Even if the world itself was destroyed, she could easily just make a new one with the wave of her hand. Thus, the person herself will naturally not place any real importance to something of that level. Either would the gods dare to trouble her for something of that level.

Shien couldnt hold himself back from commenting about that.

Gods really are a troublesome type of existence.

Lucy and Vivian both showed a bitter smile in response to that.

Its fine to say stuff like that in here, but dont go saying it outside, alright? Vivian spoke resignedly, No matter what, gods are our creators. We also enjoy their blessings, so we mustnt be disrespectful.

However, Shien wasnt convinced.

Thats you guys. This doesnt have anything to do with someone from another world like me.

As someone from another world, Shiens creator was unquestionably his own parents. It had nothing at all to do with gods or whatever.

As for the blessing, it too was something that someone else forcibly pushed onto him. Its not like he actually asked for it, right?

Ever mind the fact that even now, Shien only partially understood just what the effects of his own blessing were.

Thus, to tell Shien not to disrespect the gods, Shien probably only had one real response to that.
