It didn’t matter to w.a.n.g Zheng. He had never been afraid of any challenge, nor did he care about where to begin, it was just… His thoughts were troubled now. Just like what Meng Ao had said, his thoughts were in Aslan… How was Aina?
The fact that the Aslan Empire was the mastermind behind everything must have come as a huge blow for Aina. He knew that from the broadcasts, all of which were Kashawen. The speaker from the royal family had said that Huiyin’s disappearance was a huge mental blow to Aina. She was in treatment. At the same time, the special forces had found some clues about Huiyin and they would do their best to save their Princess. Nonetheless, everyone in the royal family would never yield to the terrorist organization. The Princesses themselves were prepared to be sacrificed at any time.
All sorts of information indicated that Aina must have rejected Kashawen’s proposal. This was the choice of the royal family.
He wasn’t worried for Huiyin. The Aslan Empire only needed a suitable opportunity to “save” her.
Even if Huiyin and Aina couldn’t choose their own fates, Aina still protested strongly.
w.a.n.g Zheng could understand the toll this had on them, but he was an outsider. If Aslan was the one being invaded, he would’ve joined the war without hesitation. No matter whether it was for Aina or for freedom. He would fight. However, now the situation was totally opposite. He had no reason to fight, like Aina. Aina didn’t have the confidence to lead the country and her warriors to war.
Meng Ao still gave w.a.n.g Zheng time to think. He had to decide the direction of his future.
The Solar System might not necessarily stand on Arbiter’s side even after learning that Aslan was the mastermind. However, if Arbiter couldn’t withstand the first attack, the Solar System might still stand on Aslan’s side. In the event that they managed to block the attack, the Solar System would still have to consider their own interests first.
It would have been so much better if w.a.n.g Zheng was a warrior who knew nothing. Do whatever he was ordered to do. But w.a.n.g Zheng wasn’t, and he couldn’t act like a robot in war. That wasn’t the source of his strength.
Oracle Star.
In the genetic fusion laboratory.
Sharjah began yet another busy day as soon as his a.s.sistant gave him his first cup of coffee for the day.
Sharjah walked routinely into his office through the long corridor. He opened his exclusive server, encrypted the internal information, and ran his own defense program before opening his encrypted mailbox. This was his daily routine even though most of the time, his mailbox was empty.
He wasn’t disappointed today. A new email popped up. It was from his old cla.s.smate when he was studying in Aslan. It was a reply to his email three days back. It was still asking him to get back to his country. The crime he had committed twenty years ago was no longer a crime to the Milky Way Alliance of today. It was just a debate.
Sharjah laughed coldly. His current research was no longer the same project as twenty years back. Not many people could catch up with him in his world. After twenty years, it was still a debate. They couldn’t understand that his research all those years back was the future of human development.
His current research might take humanity another hundred years to understand.
The truth was lonely and always controlled by a few people. The vast majority of the people rejected the truth because of fear.
They were human after all, a sad species that could only be happy when they lived in lies.
Nonetheless, the wisdom of a person was always limited. He needed more inspiration, more opinions to broaden his thinking. The current research had entered a situation where even he could hardly follow and understand. The email from his old cla.s.smate gave good insight to the problems he had recently encountered.
Originally, he just wanted to open the forbidden gate of the G.o.ds.
Now he realized that he was already in the backyard of the G.o.ds and was swimming in taboo.
He exited safely from his encrypted mailbox and downloaded the latest news of the Milky Way Alliance from his Skylink. He switched it off after his first coffee, left his office, and entered the experiment area.
The monster in the eyes of others was a sacred treasure to Sharjah.
Mutation? No, no, no, that’s evolution! Change was good.
It was just that the direction of their evolution went wrong. They didn’t have enough determination nor desire to survive. In evolution, Darwin’s theory was that survival of the fittest was the natural law. Sacrifices were unavoidable with trial and error.
These were normal. The sacrifices were for humanity’s future. They were martyrs.
Sharjah’s world was pa.s.sionate. He didn’t care about the Saint. He only cared about his great ambition. His research would be the future of mankind! It would allow humans to walk out of the galaxy and dominate the universe of the endless void!
The a.s.sistants gathered and greeted Sharjah. Sharjah snorted coldly and arranged the schedule for today. He then hurried to the second floor of the laboratory.
His current attention was totally away from the first stage.
The first stage was simple and crude, which was why he would leave it to his subordinates. His energy would be on Lear and Luo Fei.
These two were the “miracles” he had created. They were the most successful up till now!
They were the keys to the backyard of the G.o.ds.
He called them — the Sons of G.o.d!
On the second floor of the laboratory.
Lear and Luo Fei were isolated. They had been sent into a special culture tank amongst those who pa.s.sed the second stage. The concoction for the genetic modification was also specially prepared by Sharjah.
“Teacher.”
Burrow quickly sorted out the new data he had in hand and went over to Sharjah when he saw him. “The data for the subjects is perfect, especially Mr. Lear. His control of the evolutionary gene has reached 76% and the data shows that there is still room for improvement. Mr Luo Fei’s control is slightly lower, at 41%. However, his increase in ability is amazing. The other subjects are nothing compared to them. I believe that emotion is the key. Mr. Lear seems to have a genuine desire for evolution from his soul!”
“Is the human exogenous gene stable?” Sharjah was referring to the gene that retained the human appearance. Most of the failed experiments were because this part of the genes mutated and lost the human appearance to become a monster. Sharjah always believed that losing the human appearance equated to losing the essence of being human. It wasn’t evolution, but regression.
“Both of their human exogenous genes are very stable. Mr. Lear is even able to control this range. As long as there’s sufficient energy, their conversion time could complete in three seconds.”
Sharjah nodded satisfactorily. “Continue monitoring this part of the gene. Extract this part from Luo Fei and see if there’s any possibility of transplantation and replication.”
“Yes.”
Burrow turned to leave excitedly.
In laboratory number one.
Lear suddenly woke up from his dream. He turned his head and saw Luo Fei soaked in another culture tank, asleep. His eyebrows trembled, proving that he was still in control of his genes. This guy could sleep at any time, under any circ.u.mstances. Lear felt an inexplicable calm as he looked at him. He… was also afraid of loneliness.
Lear exhaled and turned his head to check the level of concoction in his culture tank.
It was three sections lower than the day before. He was getting more used to the absorption of these liquids. He was gradually getting numbed towards these painful feelings. It had instead been replaced by a kind of desire.
About a week ago, Lear could clearly feel his body eagerly accepting the concoction when he was immersed.
“Time’s up.”
Sharjah’s voice sounded and the lights lit up in the laboratory. Lear heard the sounds of Luo Fei waking up. “Ah, Professor Sharjah, is it time for a meal?”
Luo Fei stretched lazily. They were totally different from the other subjects. They were free to roam as long as they were not in the culture tanks.
“Mr. Lear, this is the latest news about the Milky Way Alliance that you wished to know.”
Sharjah put the downloaded news in the hands of Lear.
Obviously, Sharjah’s act was done behind the Saint’s back.
