The funeral took place next day in the morning. Feng Xinying stood there quietly and carried out all the rituals. She held her father's hand for one last time before he left her to become one with nature. She became an orphan at twenty-three. All she had now was a stepmother whom she hated to the core.
After the funeral service they returned home in different cars. She didn't eat anything and straightaway went to her room. She realized that her room was kept just the way she had left. Not a single thing was out of place. The only stuff missing were the pictures of her parents. She opened her suitcase to dig out the pictures. She caressed both of the frames and gently placed them on the bedside table. Her heart was feeling heavy. She wanted to wail like she did that night just before leaving but she had now matured a lot. She contained herself and curled inside her blanket. Jetlagged, Feng Xinying slept again. She woke up with a startle when she heard someone knocking at her door loudly.
"Feng Xinying, Feng Xinying, you are wanted downstairs."
She rubbed her eyes and got out of bed to open the door to see that the butler was pounding it. "What happened Lu Boyun?"
"Young miss the lawyer is sitting downstairs. He will be reading his will. They are calling you in the study. You must hurry up otherwise he will not be able to read the will," replied Lu Boyun.
Lu Boyun was very excited, as he didn't want his master's child to miss on anything. He had been a loyal servant to Feng Zhantian and admired Feng Xinying a lot. He had seen her grow up to be a young woman until she had left. He knew that the master was very gloomy inside when she had left but the master never showed it. Lu Boyun had cried for the first time in his life after young miss had left. He really cared for her and if the master had given him the chance, he would have found her and served her.
Feng Xinying said, "Okay, I will be down there soon."
Lu Boyun left and Feng Xinying wondered how much had that stepmother of hers had seduced her father. She thought that whatever percent her father must have left for her, she would just agree and ask her to leave the house. She didn't want to see her again.
She went to the bathroom and washed her face. She went to the study and opened the door. To her surprise apart from her mother she found that man again facing the lawyer, as soon as she opened the door. Again? Why was he so important?
They looked at her when she entered and the lawyer rose from his chair to welcome her. She sat down opposite him without giving a glance to Xie Weihui.
"Good morning young miss," said the lawyer. He was an old man and had worked for the Feng Conglomerate for more than forty years. He was well aware of the mannerisms of Feng Zhantian's daughter. She was supposed to be bad tempered.
Xie Weihui looked at Feng Xinying with a grave expression and nodded.
"Perhaps that's all she can do, but I hardly care for her. After today I will be done and dusted with her," thought Feng Xinying.
Once she will inherit her father's money and company, she would no longer have to bear that woman.
The lawyer opened the seal of the envelope in which the papers were kept and gently took them out. He read about all the legal aspects and came to the point where he had to announce the legal heir.
"The static a.s.sets will be divided between my daughter Feng Xinying and my forth wife Xie Weihui. Feng Xinying will receive seventy percent of them while Xie Weihui will receive thirty percent."
Feng Xinying smirked at her father's decision. She was okay with parting thirty percent, which could have been millions of Yuan because she would then live peacefully.
The lawyer continued, "The Feng Conglomerate is a large billion dollar empire and it will be run by its current CEO Xie Yuansheng. He will continue to be its sole head."
