Starlight Has No Past

Chapter 18 Part 2

Ye Qiao quietly reclined in the couch and felt very sleepy. Zhou Tingsheng

carefully checked the bandages on her knee caps which had grown swollen

around the bandages. He touched the areas: “I didn't see these this morning?”

Ye Qiao lazily opened her eyes and could see the desire in his eyes. It was

obvious what he was thinking of doing. Ye Qiao pushed him away with a

frown: “Be more serious. Is your soup ready? Better check before you burn

the pot.”

Zhou Tingsheng supported himself with one arm and leaned over to kiss

her: “I can feed you something else.”

Ye Qiao was going to slap him.

He grabbed her wrist and talked as if she had hurt his feeling: “It can't be?

I thought I should be at least a little bit more attractive than dog food.”

Ye Qiao kicked him: “Cut it out……”

Zhou Tingsheng kissed her fingers: “It's for Desa. Dogs can't eat salt, the

soup is bland. If you want to eat, I can fix something else for you.”

“It's alright. I'll just eat that. Do you have white rice?”

“Yes.”

She was so sleepy that she just wanted to close her eyes, speaking with

a drowsy voice: “I'm famished……”

He could see that her body was cold after coming in on a chilly night. He

realized that she had just came back from work and commented as he

walked towards the kitchen: “Being an actress is hard work.”

“Well, then, do you think we can earn big money just by climbing onto the

directors' couch? Those who earn money by sleeping with others are prost.i.tutes.”

After being with him a few times, she didn't seem to care what came out of

her mouth anymore. Zhou Tingsheng grinned and spooned the soup into a

bowl. He also gave Desa a bowl of soup as well. Ye Qiao took the bowl and

noticed that the meat on the rib piece in her bowl was much less than the

one in Desa's bowl. So she was less important than a dog, she felt like

throw the soup at his face.

Zhou Tingsheng met her resentful look and said: “Aren't all actresses on diet?

It's too much trouble to eat too much then go on a diet.”

Ye Qiao bitterly gave him a hard look; she weighed only 40 KG and was considered

thin even in the entertainment circle.

Zhou Tingsheng filled a bowl of rice for her. The bowl was fine china with a vintage

pattern. Ye Qiao carefully studied it, the design seemed familiar. She had seen an

exhibition of furniture from Catherine II's reign in a museum. The patterns on the

dinnerware china at the exhibition were exactly the same as this. She took a look

at the bowl besides Desa's paws, it was from the same series. Ye Qiao didn't know

too much about fine china but she could tell this set of dinnerware was very delicate,

aged pieces.

She tut-tutted a couple times, marvelling at his reckless wastefulness.

She finally warmed up when the hot soup entered her stomach.

The bones gave the soup its flavor. Though Ye Qiao was used to strong flavors in

food, this bland soup was surprisingly pleasant to her palette. She ate a small bowl

of rice and felt quite satisfied. No wonder men and women have restlessly wanted

to form families for thousand of years. This kind of plain warmness was comforting.

For a second, she almost wanted to rest in this simple happiness forever.

However, she knew it very well that the chest she was leaning on wasn't just for

her alone. She was only an episode in his life. Today, they could satisfy each

other, but tomorrow, they might have already parted ways.

Ye Qiao was sore all over her body after a day of hard work. She laid down on

the couch and didn't want to move anymore: “How about I just sleep here tonight?

I can't move.”

Zhou Tingsheng, still feeding Desa, commented without looking back up: “I have

no objections.”

Ye Qiao watched him: “It's not bad to have a dog around. The dog can keep you

company in the middle of the night.”

“Don't you have me?”

Ye Qiao laughed: “I'm serious.”

“If you want to have a dog, we can go buy one tomorrow so Desa has some

company. Desa is female, you can buy a male dog.”
