82 A Turn For The Better

Their wedding photos, she wished she had something better, more traditional and not her all plastered after work, but they were still nice.. Chang smiled and touched the photos.

On the right was the marriage certificate signed by both of them. Liang Jian Amal written out beautifully and Dumont Chang Xie in a looping messy scrawl. As well as the certificate there was a permission doc.u.ment for marriage from the US emba.s.sy in Shanghai. Chang looked at that confused.

"You know it wasn't that simple to marry you, I had to grease more than a few palms to be able to marry you in one night as we are from different countries." Jian explained and held his hands out in a carefree manner shaking his head as he sighed.

Chang looked at her ring and the wedding photos under her hand and smiled in reverie.

"Thank you." she said in a voice as small as a mosquito.

"Hmm, what was that? I couldn't hear you." He leaned closer and cupped a hand to his ear.

Chang leaned forward and grabbed his collar with an iron grip and sealed his irritating distracting mouth with hers. When she released him she whispered in his ear

"I said thank you Jian."

"He looked at her astonished and grinned at her. "Why Mrs. Liang are you trying to seduce your husband?"

"Absolutely not!" She denied fiercely slinking back into the water showing only her head and eyes above the edge.

"Why not I wouldn't be opposed to it."

"Yeah, uh huh, I sure you wouldn't." She muttered.

Jian chuckled and gave a peck to the top of her bird nest hair. he grabbed her marriage book so that it wouldn't get wet and left her to bathe in peace. Chang sat there for a moment and placed both hands on top of her head where he had kissed her.

'Oh G.o.d I got it bad.' She dunked herself under the water before cleaning herself and applying her favorite skin products she left on the bathroom counter that Jian had brought back for her. She wrapped herself up in a towel and grabbed a comb and sat on the bed and began the process of detangling her hair. Jian had brought a couple tables into the room, one held their marriage books, the other a plate of food covered with a cloth to keep warm. He took the comb from her hand and slowly eased her hair into order. Chang curled her fist over her heart feeling the swelling throbbing feeling rising thinking of all his actions. Denying food she crawled into bed and he lay beside her providing his arm as a pillow. Inhaling his scent she let herself drift off easily, her body readily welcoming sleep.

After a few weeks of the treatments Li Hua started to see more of the positive effects from the specialized radiation treatment. For one she had not had a seizure since on the plane ride over. Her lethargy had also greatly decreased she was able to spend more than a few hours awake at a time and was able to enjoy leisurely walks with Hakim, Jin Ying, Jian, as well as her daughter. At nights under her proposal they even sat out under the warm fall skies and viewed the stars or played cards when it rained rarely. She felt heartened by this turn and began to feel hope for her condition for the first time in a long while.
