48 Promises And The Shadows From The Pas

"Did you eavesdrop?" - Queenie

Without even looking at her message he knew that she was going to be angry. He could have kept it a secret but he chose to tell her anyways.

"I did. I know I should have warned you, but you wouldn't agree. And I don't trust Will." - King

"Trusting me was enough" - Queenie

She could try to understand his reasoning but, no, he hadn't even asked for her opinion. She couldn't help but feel angered by him. While in deep thoughts, she already reached the doors where she noticed a car pull in front of the entrance. Right at that moment her phone buzzed again, thus, she stopped for a moment to read the message.

"I trust you as I always did and always will do. However, with me involved, I just couldn't be sure that he wouldn't try anything funny.

Arthur is at the door. Get into the car first." - King

He sighed loudly: he knew this was going to happen and even though he was initially thinking of hiding this from her, he couldn't help but feel that he was somehow betraying her. Thus, he decided to write that cringe message to try and make her take the news easier but it still backfired.

Arthur didn't come down of the car as he didn't want to be noticed by Luke's people. He just rolled the window down to allow Sia to see him.

Confirming that it was the right car, Sia got into it and quickly buckled up. After greeting Arthur and engaging in a short small talk with him she excused herself and started typing again, concentrating solely on her phone for the rest of the ride, despite knowing that it wasn't the most polite thing to do.

"Cain, I don't like what you did." - Queenie

"I know you wouldn't like this that's why I didn't tell you. But I just couldn't stay put when I knew that my woman is alone with a man who has feelings for her. Especially when that man is Will." - King

"Glad you know he is a man and not some kind of an animal. And I am not exactly a helpless prey who can't protect herself. Anyways, what's done is done. I know your possessiveness comes from the care and love you have for me, but still I can't accept this.

Promise me, never to do this again.

I don't take a no for an answer." - Queenie

Arthur was keeping unusually quiet. He saw her furrowed brows and the furious way she was typing. He knew for a fact that Cain was in deep trouble. He was just regretful that he couldn't see Cain's defeated expression now which he was having a hard time to imagine.

However, he was on point, as Cain truly had a regretful yet conflicted expression. He was regretting not the fact that he listened to their conversation and had a few guards at the door just in case. No, he was regretting not informing her and convincing her beforehand. Now it seemed like he burnt all the bridges.

"I know I invaded your privacy. I am sorry for that. I never did this before when it came to your other suitors. But this time there was no way I could stand aside. Even if I was given the chance to choose again I would still do the same thing." - King

"You didn't answer me. And anyways, what's the up with you and Will?" - Queenie

Sia's question caused a flash of memories resurface in Cain's mind: memories that weren't exactly pleasant. He wanted to explain, but remembering that he could now meet her and talk to her face to face, he chose to 'skip' the question and wait for the right time to talk.

"Can I promise not to do it without permission but do so if you give me the green light?" - King

From a while back Sia had noticed the unusual way Cain talked about Will. And the other day she saw Cain and Will avoiding each other's gazes. However, whenever they did look at each other the air around them would become frosty. She initially thought that it was because of her, but knowing Cain's antics quite well, the enmity between them did not seem anything new.

Seeing that he chose not to answer her question, she didn't push him further and instead directly answered his question.

"If you give me a reasonable explanation, then maybe. But if you are just being paranoid, then no way." - Queenie

He finally let out the breath he was holding. At least she didn't go on a hiatus like last time refusing to talk to him for days. He really couldn't anger his haughty Queen as he would be the one eating the losses.

"Okay, I promise." - King

With a weight off his shoulders he laid back on his bed feeling much more relaxed. However, the next moment his devious smile once again found its way on his face and picking up his phone he texted her again,

"So, can I or can I not?" - King

For a moment Sia felt confused, but suddenly remembering his rogue question from before her face instantly heated up. The desire to kill her dear boyfriend returned and with all the pent-up frustration she wrote;

"Go die!" - Queenie

He laughed at her response, knowing full well that he won this time around because she was not at her peak due to all the events that had occurred during the day.

'I guess, it's fine to annoy her once in awhile. d.a.m.n, now I wanna see her. But she would surely kill me if I used cameras. *Sigh* seems like I need to speed up the process here.'

He thought to himself and sat back up resolutely. He took his laptop from the side, and started attentively observing maps and sketches of different buildings with reasons only he knew.

--

After Sia left, a feeling of emptiness engulfed Will. He felt like all his energy was drained from him. He felt lifeless.

'Why? Why did we not meet earlier? How could you choose Cain out of everyone?'

His thoughts were broken by a familiar ringtone. He slowly picked up his phone, and despite accepting the call he stayed completely silent.

"h.e.l.lo? Will? You there?" came Alex's voice that carried slight tinges of worry.

"Hey," Will answered monotonously.

Alex knew why Will sounded so: afterall, even though he could guess this outcome yesterday, Sia had just texted him briefly saying that they had talked and that she had already left. Well, Alex felt truly happy that she informed him, not forgetting her promise to do so.

On the other hand, he felt really sorry for Will. He had never seen him feel this way towards any woman. Though the world saw Will as an Ice king due to the way he treated women and some even thought that he might be gay, he knew for sure that this wasn't the case. He knew that there were women who Will would spend the night with, but none of them had ever had any impact on him.

Love was really a weird and a crazy thing. Two people as indifferent as the Devil king and the Ice king actually fell for the same person. And if one asked 'the because' that would be plain stupid: after all, love has no because, no reason, no explanation and no solution. It has only feelings. And it was evident that those two men had feelings for the same woman.

Alex wanted to support Will, but was scared to hurt him any more than he already was. So thinking for a moment he finally said,

"Wanna go for drinks?"

"Sure," came the immediate answer sealing the deal for the long talk up ahead.
