"What happened Yukimura? Where's your reasoning? Your distrust is way overboard, you let her walked from where the fight took place to this palace with wounds, obviously those wounds are deep. It is inconceivable that she defeated that many enemies so fast, especially since she is a zero. But what she did is for the kingdom, you should have at least allowed her to rest or be tended."
"I, *sigh* I truly am sorry. I don't know but somehow I feel like I'm losing myself whenever I see her or interact with her," after seeing both Akihiro and Raven's eyes, that shows disappointment and at the same time sadness, he feels so guilty for treating Eureka that way.
For the past years, he felt like everyone around him are starting to become strangers. He didn't know when it started but right now he could only trust his family and Akihiro. He became so distrustful that he can feel his subordinates unhappiness towards him.
"I think you need to take a break," Akihiro finally said as he watches the dejected look on his friend's face.
"Do I? My body feels fine but my mind is so exhausted, at times I'd find myself to a place I didn't even know how I got there," Yukimura said weakly. The disappointment from the two important people for him somehow brought out all of his mind's exhaustion.
"You're wandering around without fully being conscious to your surrounding? Ain't that dangerous?" Akihiro commented.
"I am even baffled myself. It seems that the impact of losing Leo was too much for me. Sometimes I'd find myself in the library, at times at the back of the castle. I somehow find myself at the most strange places within the kingdom."
"It seems you truly are exhausted take a leave for a month. Use that time to relax and return back to your previous self," Akihiro could only do this much.
Just then the door of the hall opened, Raven entered followed by Eureka. Her head had a bandage, her neck had another, her right arm is bandaged, her left arm had a sling, and she might be wearing pants but the way she walks is pretty obvious that she had been bandaged again.
This appearance brought more guilt and shame to Yukimura, 'What have I done? Why am I not seeing these obvious things?'
He then walked towards Eureka, who looked at him confusedly, upon arriving in front of her he bowed down. This action greatly shocked all three of them.
"Si-Sir, what are you doing?" this action even made Eureka, who's usually indifferent with everything, fl.u.s.tered.
"My actions tonight are unfit for a head knight, I didn't consider your physical condition and allowed my suspicion get the best of me. In this I apologize," he said sincerely.
Eureka looked at him for a while before opening her mouth, "For me to accept your apology, would you allow me to do something without punis.h.i.+ng me?"
Akihiro and Raven are both getting confused on what's going on between the two.
"I guess I can do that," after pondering for a while, Yukimura accepted.
"Then," she clapped her hand before tiptoeing. The three of them followed her every move. But her final action truly caused them to be stupefied.
"Acceptance is the best way to move forward. Stop looking back sir, you might lose sight of what's in front of you that is far more important," she said this words while patting Yukimura's head.
'Why does this look like my father is a child that Eureka is coaxing?' Raven couldn't help but think as he watches his father being patted.
After patting Yukimura, Eureka then faced Akihiro. Yukimura and Akihiro cleared their throats before getting back to the main topic of the events.
"So are you going to give us some explanation on how you did it?" Akihiro finally asked.
"I must apologize, your highness, but all I did was to use both of my swords and my own speed to defeat the enemies."
"Don't you think that this is too absurd?" he couldn't help but keep on asking. This is truly absurd, her, a zero, defeated all those level 1 ability users so fast with just her two swords and her physical capability.
"That is really all I did, your highness."
"*sigh* You do know that this kind of thing is completely suspicious. I shall be detaining you in the north tower until you tell us what really happened in there," after saying so he motioned the guards to bring her to the north tower.
The north tower is not a scary place at all, it's just used to detain those knights who did something suspicious or those that are under observation regarding their behavior. It is better than the prison or the dungeon.
After they left, "Your Highness, I must apologize for asking. But is this serious enough for you to detain her in the north tower?" Raven couldn't help but ask.
"You got it all wrong Raven," the one who answered was Yukimura.
"His Highness is too kind right now."
Raven became even more confused.
"*sigh* Do you know what makes the north tower impenetrable?"
"It has a seal barrier that once the prisoner enters, that person could no longer get out no matter what not until the king himself said so. And no other person could enter it without the king's permission. The seal was too strong that no person alive could destroy no matter how strong their ability is or how strong they've become," he answered still feeling confused.
"That's right. Basically that prison is also the most peaceful place for Eureka."
This sentenced brought Raven more confusion which is entirely visible in his face.
Yukimura and Akihiro looked at each other before Yukimura further explained, "Akito already told you why Eureka hated the hospital right?"
He nodded as he looks seriously at his father.
"Within that place, she can be at ease. She'll be able to sleep sounder compared to her residence. In there she'll be able to recover from her wounds tonight."
"Plus that girl doesn't seem to be resting properly for the past years that she had stayed here, except only when she ended up fainting from exhaustion. Her complexion, every time I see her, are always not good. Making her stay at the north tower would allow her to change her pace for now," Akihiko added.
"You really are too kind, your highness," Yukimura couldn't help but say.
"And it seems that you apologizing to her was the best for you," Akihiko, in the end, answered back.
"That's..." he couldn't help but turn red, remembering how he was patted like a child in the head.
Akihiko couldn't help but laugh at the look on the face of Yukimura. Raven, on the other hand, looked at his father amused.
"Maybe you should apologize to everyone on the next a.s.sembly, you might revert back to your old self that way," Akihiko added afterward.
"I still distrust her. It's just after seeing my mistake and acknowledging it I just felt like my head has finally cleared up. Evey irritation that kept building up in the past years disappeared somehow," he retorted.
Akihiko laughed once again before saying, "Anyway, you two should go back and rest already. It's quite late and you still have a lot of things to do tomorrow. We'll give Eureka a week before going in and interrogate her."
Yukimura looking at his son's face that shows what he was thinking started saying, "Don't look like she'll be imprisoned already. She'll be interrogated but in the best way. We'll find out the truth eventually and she'll be free."
"I..." Raven started looking complicated. He opened his mouth and closed it again, this happened a few times before he made up his mind and ended up saying, "Maybe I should have patted your head ever since you started being unreasonable. I wouldn't have argued with you so much with that."
"You brat," Yukimura looked at him angrily, "You come here and let me discipline you."
"Says the one who blushed because of another girl. I should really tell mom, I wonder how she'll react," said before he bowed down respectfully to Akihiko before running away.
"GET BACK HERE!!" Yukimura angrily shouted before following his son.
Akihiko looked at their retreating figures amusedly, before the light in his eyes disappeared and sadness filled them. He started walking out the hall before saying, "Tell the guards to stand guard at the other end of the hall towards the north tower rather than the entrance of the north tower."
"Yes, your highness," from the side, Dai answered before stealthily leaving.
"I'll have to receive Kaoru's anger once he heard that the girl was detained. *sigh* Every time that guy comes, he only frowned and get mad. When was the last time I saw him smile at me? And to think that he is my one and only brother but he even decided to go and live at the edge of the city. *sigh* When did everything went wrong? When did everything go down the hill? Haruka, I really do wish you're still here, then maybe this kingdom wouldn't be as gloomy as this," he kept talking to himself until he reached his own room.
