Chapter 99 (Censored) - Ultimate hero (Translated and edited by Xing)
Li Yubing turned and found tears rolling down Tang Xue's face. His heart aching, he pulled her into his arms and stroked her head gently. "It's, it's okay."
Yu Yan walked over and said, "Have you two forgotten that everyone in the country recognizes you?"
Li Yubing raised his head and found several receptionists and two guests had taken out their phones and were currently filming them.
Tang Xue was slightly embarra.s.sed. She wiped her tears and mumbled, "Let's, let's talk upstairs."
Li Yubing held her hand and walked towards the elevator. When he pa.s.sed by those people, he said, "Please don't post this onto the internet or send it to your friends."
Those people did not expect Li Yubing to say this so politely to them. He was completely different from what was said on the internet. The merits of a good-looking person were always magnified. Thus, everyone nodded, "Got it, got it!"
Yu Yan watched their leaving figures. He lowered his head and smiled. When they turned and disappeared around the corner, he fished out his phone and texted: I'm going back.
Tang Xue brought Li Yubing back to her room. Li Yubing sat on the chair but Tang Xue did not sit. She stood in front of him with a lowered head, like a primary school student who had made a mistake.
She had stopped crying but her tears had yet to dry. Tiny beads of tears hung from her fine and long eyelashes, looking like fragmented pieces of sparkling diamonds.
It looked like she had been startled badly as well.
Li Yubing had the urge to laugh but at the same time, he was touched. His heart feeling bittersweet, he tugged her hand and pulled her down to sit on his thighs.
Tang Xue was exceptionally docile as she sat on his legs. She leaned into his embrace and with her head turned, rested her temples on the edge of his forehead. She stretched her hands behind to embrace him as well.
Then, she told him what happened in detail from beginning to end.
Li Yubing hugged her and stroked her back every now and then. His actions were slow and gentle, meant to comfort her through and through. After she finished confessing, he lifted his head slightly and looked her in the eyes. He asked gently, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I saw that you weren't in a good mood." Seeing that Li Yubing was about to speak, she raised her hand and covered his lips. "I admit that I shouldn't have lied. But I didn't lie because of Yu Yan. I lied because of you."
Li Yubing held her wrist and lowered her hand gently. He said, "I don't like being deceived. From now on, no matter what happens, let's be honest with each other, okay?"
Tang Xue nodded. "Mm… But Li Yubing, I was quite upset about one thing as well."
"Mm?"
"Why did you thought that I don't love you? Don't you have any trust towards me?"
Li Yubing did not reply. His head was lowered in silence for a while. Then, he said, "Recently, so many people have said that they were disappointed in Li Yubing."
When Tang Xue heard this, her heart felt a piercing pain. She tightened her arms. "Li Yubing…"
"But," Li Yubing interrupted her. "In actual fact, there is only one person that Li Yubing himself is afraid of disappointing."
Tang Xue's eyes reddened. Moved and her heart aching for him, she cupped his face and lowered her head to kiss him.
Li Yubing raised his head and responded tenderly. The uncensored version of this chapter can be found at teafragrance[dot]wordpress[dot]com.
No matter how strong someone appeared, they would have times of weakness and unease as well. In particular, their unease would be magnified in front of the person they like. The more they cared, the more terrified they were. The more important the person was, the more terrified they were of losing him or her.
Tang Xue wanted to tell Li Yubing that she would never be disappointed in him.
On Singles' Day[1], Tang Xue gave Li Yubing a call. "Let's celebrate as well."
"How?"
"Are you free tonight?"
"Yes," Li Yubing said and laughed. His laughter was loaded with meaning.
Tang Xue ignored his annoying tone and gave a proper reply. "Let's take a stroll down Baisha Street."
At this point, Li Yubing did not enjoy going to crowded places. He asked, "Take a stroll for?"
"To have fun. What other excuse do we need for a stroll?"
"Shall we watch a movie?"
"No, I'm in the mood for strolling."
Fine, since she was the boss, a stroll it would be. This chapter is a labour of love that should not be found outside of teafragrance[dot]wordpress[dot]com.
They arranged to meet at the entrance of Baisha Street at 7 pm. Li Yubing headed over from the club and arrived slightly earlier. He waited for her with his hands slotted in his pockets. He was covered tightly from head to toes and wore a cap and a mask. He stood at one side of the street and was bored stiff as he glanced at pa.s.sers-by.
Baisha Street was an aged street that faced the river. It was packed tightly with numerous small shops and food stalls. Across the river was Dayue City, the biggest commercial district in Rain City. Dayue City was littered with skysc.r.a.pers and covered with dazzling lights. Against the quaintness of Baisha Street opposite it, the two sides of the river were an interesting contrast that complimented each other nicely.
At 7 pm sharp, Tang Xue had yet to arrive. Li Yubing popped into a corner store selling rabbit heads, intending to buy a few of Tang Xue's favourite snack.
He ordered two numb and spicy rabbit heads and two five-spice powder seasoned rabbit heads. When the shop a.s.sistant was packing the rabbit heads, out of the blue, he stopped all movements and stared into the distance across the street.
At the same time, numerous people outside gasped and broke into murmurs.
When Li Yubing raised his head curiously to take a look as well, he was stunned.
On the tallest building in Dayue City across the street—or to be accurate, across the river—the enormous LED advertising board was refreshed.
Li Yubing,
You'll always be my ultimate hero.
Tang Xue

[1] Singles' Day takes place on 11 Nov. It's also the Chinese equivalent of Black Friday, because singlehood is a great excuse for ma.s.sive sales and excessive shopping :p More info can be found on Wikipedia.
There is an uncensored version of this chapter!
I can't wait for the drama to come out and provide me with much-needed fluff.
