Chapter 10 Misunderstanding
The moment the bullet was fired, even the bear-like Ivan felt as if he was scorched by the heat from the shot. His first reaction after he saw Zhou Qingfeng’s gun was to fall to the ground, as well as to shout for Yakov, his brother, for help.
The gunshot caused chaos within the bar. Shooting was never a big deal in the United States as there were tons of people who got shot everyday. Americans were thus sensitive to gunshots, and their first reaction after hearing a gunshot was to run.
The Catclaw Bar only had one exit. Hence, everyone was squeezing toward one direction. Yakov pulled out his pistol amid the chaos, but then he saw people rus.h.i.+ng in his direction.
f.u.c.k me!
Although Yakov had a bear-like figure as well, he did not dare to block the exit when faced with the tide of people. He could only turn around and run to avoid stumbling in the stampede, even though he clearly knew that Zhou Qingfeng will try to escape through the crowd. Ivan can only fend for himself.
Ivan also realized that he was in great danger after lying p.r.o.ne on the ground. Amid the hundreds of stomping feet, even a cow would be stomped to death. However, he realized that it was too late the moment he tried to get up, because the crowd was already flooding toward him.
“Ouch, who stepped on me? I’ll kill him!”
“Ow, that b.i.t.c.h wearing high heels, you just stepped on my nuts.”
“Help me, stop stomping on me, I can no longer breathe.”
Ivan could not even lift his head up when faced with more than thousands of feet. In the end, he could only huddle up and endure all the stomping. In the end, he could no longer care about Zhou Qingfeng.
Zhou Qingfeng was actually looking for chaos, as he held the pistol in one hand and dragged Angie with the other.
The crowd felt uneasy due to the consecutive gunshots. Screams and shouts can be heard all over the place. Everyone tried to calm down, but instead, they just mindlessly ran toward the exit. As Zhou Qingfeng finally escaped from the bar, relief flooded his chest and breathing became a lot easier.
A worn-out Ford Sedan suddenly appeared right in front of Zhou Qingfeng as he reached the roadside. Leina was sitting in the driver’s seat, yelling angrily, “Oh boy, you better be grateful. I actually really thought of ditching you.”
“Thank you, thank you,” Zhou Qingfeng breathed heavily and expressed his grat.i.tude as he opened the car door and entered the car alongside Angie. He then pulled the door shut and shouted, “Drive the car. We have to leave now!”
In that instance, Yakov saw Zhou Qingfeng escape from the bar. He pulled out his pistol and fired at the worn-out car. After realizing that he can no longer stop him, he raged, “I know who you are, fella! You better hide in your home and cry like a baby because I will find you, and I will kill you!”
Zhou Qingfeng was already sweating all over his body, feeling paralyzed. His limbs were trembling due to adrenaline, and his chest twinged as he breathed vigorously. After driving past a few streets, he turned around and checked the money he stole from the Portaschi brothers. He also laughed when he saw the half-naked but safe Angie.
We did it, we really did it! Zhou Qingfeng successfully stole the money, even though the process was extremely thrilling. With all that cash, he will longer starve to death.
Laughter was always filled with relaxation and joy, as well as hope for the future. Zhou Qingfeng had only been in the world of “Wasteland” for less than twelve hours, but he had already completed his first step in preparing for the cataclysm. This is a f*cking great start.
It was a perfect start. Although Zhou Qingfeng offended the Portaschi brothers and injured a person, it was literally nothing when compared to the numerous difficulties he would face during the cataclysm. He would be enjoying a great life when the entire community experienced turmoil as there will be food, drinks, and hotties by his side.
Zhou Qingfeng’s laugh was infectious. As he laughed, Leina, who was currently driving, laughed as well. The girl who experienced a vast amount of conflict even punched his chest as she asked, “How much have you actually stolen, fella?”
“I got myself fifty thousand dollars, merely doubling yours,” Zhou Qingfeng laughed as he answered her.
“f.u.c.k! The Portaschi brothers will freak out for sure.” Leina laughed even louder after hearing the figure, happy for the brothers’ losses. She then asked, “Where are you going now?”
“I’ll head back to 200th street, Murdoch Avenue. I need to send this girl back to her parents,” replied Zhou Qingfeng.
“I’m truly jealous of this girl. No one was there to help me when I needed help.” Leina sighed as they reached Angie’s house.
Zhou Qingfeng helped Angie out from the backseat. As he was reaching out to press on the doorbell, Angie suddenly sobered up, pus.h.i.+ng Zhou Qingfeng aside to run toward the trash can. She then lowered her head and vomitted.
Leina came down from the driver seat as she took some tissues from her bag and said, “She might need this.”
After receiving the tissues, Zhou Qingfeng approached Angie and asked her, “Hey, are you alright?”
Angie looked around after she finished puking. She took the tissue paper from Zhou Qingfeng, but then she bluntly said, “F*ck off, you disgusting piece of sh*t. I don’t need you to care about me.”
“I think you might have misunderstood something. I believe what actually happened is different from what you think.” Zhou Qingfeng decided that a mad Angie was actually quite cute-looking, as this at least meant that this little girl cared about him. “I can explain.”
“Explain? Are you going to make up a funny story, so that I can trust you? Do you think I’m an idiot?” Angie still hated him like before. “I treated you as my best friend, but I’ve never thought that you’ll find an escort. You really left me… disappointed!”
“Hey! You’re the one at fault today, not me. You’re only fifteen years old. You shouldn’t be consuming alcohol, let alone going to dangerous places like the Catclaw Bar. Do you know that you were almost….” Zhou Qingfeng did not finish the sentence, wanting to protect her privacy.
However, Angie never stopped sighing. She refused to believe Zhou Qingfeng. She even flung her hand. “Stop telling me your lies. From now on, stay away from me and my house!”
Angie strode toward her house, but the door opened before she managed to do so.
Rachel Connor wore confusion on her face as she heard a scream outside of her house. She was followed by David Lawrence, who wore a straight face.
“Oh, Lord. Baby, what’s the matter? I thought you were sleeping.” Rachel Connor obviously just got up from the bed as she was wearing a cardigan over her pyjamas. She held her daughter’s shoulder, surprised. “Angie, did you consume alcohol? Victor, what’s happening?”
Angie turned her head around, refusing to speak, and thus Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence can only gaze at Zhou Qingfeng. He shrugged his shoulders as he tried to organize his thoughts. Leina, however, walked up. “I think I’m in a better position to clarify this, may I?”
