Chapter 289. A Half Revolution (4)

The flames of revolution rose up. The foreigners and soldiers hiding underground came aboveground, and fire magic started flying everywhere. The Citizen Revolutionary Group gave weapons to the citizens, and they jumped into the fire like moths to a flame. When many people gathered, fear would disappear, and madness would spread.

The revolution began in the imperial capital as well as in each of the cities, excluding the lands our sponsors ruled over. They could see this happening in real time through the magic hologram. It wasn’t strange for the citizens of other cities to grab their swords and run out into the streets while screaming.

“Ha-Yan, what’s the situation like?” I asked.

“T-The other cities are in a similar situation. It’s going according to your plan, oppa!” she replied.

I smiled happily as I looked at the magic hologram Max was managing. The crowd that was more excited than the people at the capital was yelling, and when I looked at the screen displaying the situation live, I started to get goosebumps. I couldn’t help but regret not including a comment functionality in the magic hologram.

‘The mid-sized city, Georgina, is under the rule of Count Bush who openly made the beast comment.’

The foreigners dispatched there were from the Garosh and Cash Clan. I knew that Galoshik, the guy wielding a large axe, was pretty skilled, but he fought better than I had imagined. He was also skilled in instigating, so I thought about meeting him later.

- We’re not beasts!

- Aaaahhh!

- We’ll be the owner of the empire!

- Rise! My comrades! Fight and revolutionize!

- We’re not beasts! We’ll be… the owner of the empire!

I guarantee that no other place was as passionate about the revolution as Georgina. After all, people tend to react more violently the longer they had been oppressed.

When I quietly looked over at Batican, I saw a pretty good scene over there as well. Lim Ri-Dan, the demon hunter of the almost large guild, Illidari Guild, was leading the people there. Thanks to her job, green energy could be seen seeping out of her eyes, and she looked like she would be a nice ally to have.

- My dear comrades. We must seize our own destiny. We can’t keep running!

- Aaahhh!

- Reinforcements from Castle Rock have arrived. The blood we shed today is not meaningless blood. It’s for the land where we’ll live for the empire! Many of our comrades have started the uprising in the capital. Victory will soon be ours! Everyone, let’s fight! We’re all ready. They’re the ones who aren’t ready!

‘She’s not bad either.’

Aside from them, the revolution started in the other lands in their own way. It felt like the weight of power was leaning to one side in regions where the revolution was doing well. For the regions with borders to the Republic, I thought it would be best to take care of them quickly, so I dispatched foreigners and honorable nobles there, and it seemed to have been effective. The eastern region belonged to Count Castlerock, Lady Caitlyn, and Lady Elise. Since powerful people were on my side, it obviously didn’t take long to deal with everything. There were regions that seemed to be struggling, but it was none of my concern since I was in a safe place.

‘I’m sure Father Basel has already started replacing people…’

Since members of the Vatican, including Sister Helena of the Heresy Inquisitor and Sister Jessica, were involved, I was sure the change of government would be successful. Besides Father Basel, another cardinal was supporting Father Basel, and since two out of the three templars were with us, I was even happier. If Father Basel became the pope, I may become an honorary cardinal, which made my heart flutter.

‘I’m sure Hyun-Sung is doing well, too.’

It was too early for the Republic to start moving. Internally, I wasn’t sure what people thought about the situation, but it would take three days for their soldiers to reach this place.

‘I’m sure the revolution will be over by then.’

There was no need to kill the soldiers under the nobles. After all, we only needed the heads of some of the nobles. The soldiers who refused to draw their swords at the commoners after being affected by what was shown on the hologram were ready to betray the nobles who were paying them. And even Charlotte’s soldiers had no choice but to follow me, as they didn’t want to sacrifice the people, so the revolution had already succeeded halfway. I was definitely feeling it now, but people like me had the desire to pour fuel on burning wood. As such, it didn’t seem bad to display another video.

“Ha-Yan, get ready for Ahn Ki-Mo,” I ordered.

“What? Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo?” Jung Ha-Yan asked.

“We’re going to film a video right now and display it right away. I think we need a noble sacrifice scene… and I think I need Arkimo, the fighter for democracy, to play that role,” I replied.

“Ahh, got it! Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo! Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo! O-Oppa is calling for you,” she shouted.

A noble sacrifice was required in a revolution like this. Ahn Ki-Mo of Lindel, who had been dreaming of becoming an actor since he was on Earth, had to have heard of what he was about to do because he looked at me nervously. This was his debut, and it would spread all over the continent. Originally, I wasn’t planning on sacrificing him, but I thought it would be better to do this. If I showed a scene that was too realistic, it might scare some of the people.

The sacrifice had to be noble and touching, like a death in a movie. It could not be horrible and distressing. After all, who would want to see someone covered in their own blood as their guts spilled onto the ground?

“Please let me know when you’re ready, Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo,” I requested.

“Okay, Sub Guild Master. How should I… move…” he mumbled.

“It’s a scene where you’ll get hit by the arrows shot by the soldiers wearing imperial armor. The arrows will be fake, so no need to worry. If possible, I’d like a scene showing the fighter for democracy, Arkimo, sacrificing himself to protect a girl fighting in the revolution. Ah. Ye-Ri! Come here,” I called her.

“I said. I’m not going to do things like this. I want to go outside like Mr. Deok-Gu. You said Oscar needed to be protected,” Kim Ye-Ri said.

“This will be the last time. You did well last time, so I’m sure you’ll do well this time. I want the two of you to disguise yourselves with magic, and I’ll give the signal in ten minutes. I’m only going to show one scene, so don’t feel too burdened by it,” I explained.

“Okay, Sub Guild Master.”

“I… really don’t want to do it…” Kim Ye-Ri mumbled.

“This will be the last time. I promise,” I told her.

“This is really the last time,” she repeated.

“Yeah. Go get ready. Don’t use too much ad-lib. Ji-Hye noona will explain the script,” I said.

“Okay…”

It was one professional and one amateur, but it didn’t take long for them to get ready. A few of the Blue Guild staff members appeared with bitter looks while wearing imperial armor, and Ahn Ki-Mo and Kim Ye-Ri nodded to signal that they were ready. Even though she said that she didn’t want to do it, Kim Ye-Ri looked excited.

‘That kid should be more honest…’

As soon as I gave them the signal, their realistic acting began. Kim Ye-Ri was walking with heavy footsteps while carrying the flag of the Citizen Revolutionary Group that was bigger than her body. The yearning for the revolution in her eyes couldn’t be hidden. Her expression was so overwhelming that it gave me goosebumps. Unlike her awkward acting during the Park Deok-Gu incident, she was in character this time.

‘Did she practice or something?’

I couldn’t really imagine Kim Ye-Ri practicing her acting while standing in front of a mirror, but if that weren’t the case, then she had to be a natural actress. When she gulped, she started shouting.

“For sacred democracy! Fight! Revolutionize! Let's all fight together and break free!”

The way she ran while holding the flag made her look like a fighter for democracy. The extras who joined swung their swords, and they were showing a great scene despite the small space. The soldier holding an arrow aimed his cruel, dirty arrow toward the girl yearning for democracy, and a fire burned in Arkimo’s eyes—the fighter for democracy.

Kyaah!

Seeing Arkimo contemplate made it more immersive. Arkimo, who had become the symbol of revolution along with Barkdeku, was contemplating whether to protect the cause or the girl.

“Die! You dirty traitor!”

One of the Blue Guild’s staff members spoke an ad-lib without realizing it, but it wasn’t bad. The moment the dirty arrow of filthy vested interests started flying, our hero—Arkimo—stepped in front of the girl.

“Kugh!”

Fwoosh, fwoosh, fwoosh!

Several arrows landed on Ahn Ki-Mo and the way his body moved looked pretty cool. He neither screamed in pain nor cried for help. Blood started to spill from the areas where the arrows landed. Arkimo’s eyes were starting to close, and the little girl was looking at him blankly.

“Ah!”

The hologram showed Arkimo again, and for some reason, the next arrow didn’t come flying. It was strange, but who would think about that in a scene like this? They would probably think that a foreigner had appeared out of nowhere and killed them.

“Aaahhh!”

“It’s fine… it’ll be… fine.”

Kim Ye-Ri cried urgently while Arkimo didn’t let go of his desire for democratization. The way he forced himself up with arrows on his body made the scene look even more melodramatic, but in a world like this, this kind of scene was effective.

“I must stand. My comrades are… fighting together,” Arkimo said weakly.

“Ah… I-I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I…” Kim Ye-Ri stuttered.

“Children… do not need to fight,” he told her.

At this point, my hands and feet were curling up in cringe, but since the public would see this as a real event, it was tolerable.

Arkimo staggered, unable to maintain his balance. As he dragged his body and picked up his weapon, he collapsed.

“The blood that I shed… was for the people… proud…” he mumbled.

“With a burning thirst… with a burning thirst… sacred democracy… hurrah.”

And he closed his eyes in style. Tears filled Kim Ye-Ri’s eyes, but she wiped away her tears and grabbed the weapon the fighter for democracy was holding. It was a really cringey moment, but once it was edited, it should transform into a tolerable scene. With a flag in one hand and a sword in the other, Kim Ye-Ri shouted while looking at the imperial castle.

“Cut!” I shouted.

“...”

“...”

“I’m. Really not doing this anymore,” Kim Ye-Ri said.

“Actress Kim! How are you so good at acting? It was really perfect. You were really cool, Mr. Ahn Ki-Mo. Transmit this immediately, Max,” I ordered.

“Okay!”

“And if there are scenes you think are awkward, insert some noise in that scene, got it?” I told him.

“Got it!”

Kim Ye-Ri, who strangely looked happy, and Ahn Ki-Mo, who just made a successful debut, removed their disguises and prepared to help the foreigners again. During all this, the video was edited, transmitted, and it became fuel poured into burning wood.

“Aaaahhhh!”

“Hurrah! Hurrah! For sacred democracy!”

“Don’t let Arkimo’s sacrifice go to waste! Let’s raise our flags and stand up, my comrades!”

There were people trying to head to the imperial castle while others were trying to stop them. When I saw Oscar fighting with the citizens under Barkdeku’s protection, I automatically nodded. It was getting pretty stagnant. However, the appearance of trustworthy support in a time like this was enough for it to be written down in history.

“Let’s get ready to head out,” I said.

The time to backstab the emperor and Charlia was nigh.
