Chapter 64: Blanket Of Emptiness

Kai thought he had lost Li Na forever into that destruction as she ran away from them towards the burning h.e.l.l. Moreover, there was not a tiny possibility that she would have survived the wrath of the devil.

Kai couldn't possibly expect from Lu Jianjun to show any kind of mercy to his people when Kai knew if he was in Lu Jianjun's place he would have killed Lu Jianjun's whole family mercilessly even if Lu Jianjun had a child or a helpless woman. As long as they belong to the Lu family, his whole ancestry will be wiped out.

Although, fate was playing its own game.

After that almost two years later, Kai saw Li Na's poster on the front magazine cover. He couldn't ask for more when he saw Li Na alive and then she began to work in Glam Queen. His little kitty was alive. Of course, what shocked him the most was her overall change. Specifically, the adulthood of her curvy body which looked like a fully grown-up woman.

The last time Kai remembered her from two years back, Li Na was naturally tall as she had an intimidating height like a slim- trim model figure. But with a flat chest and slender legs with merest body muscles. It was surprising to see her maturity in just a short span of two years, Li Na was evolved beyond his believes. She didn't look sick as if infected by drugs but healthful.

Li Na's change was evident and impossible to ignore. Perplexed, Kai did wonder what made her change so much...? Or her gym workout was so effective?

Unlikely, her previous tight and short clothes that hugged and covered her body less, she began to wear subtle less revealing clothes more like an elite lady. With utter elegance and grace. Everything was changed in Li Na as if she was imitating someone's personality. Even if she is doing that, she was totally nailing it.

But what bothered him the most was the feeling of insecurity... Was she was doing it for gaining someone's attention other than him? Cause he knows her better more than anyone else. Was it Lu Jun-hui she was trying to woo? Is she really fallen in love with him?

"Kai? Should we follow her or kidnap her? I'm sure she will steps out of Versailles someday. We can't track her traces through her cellphone like before." Onyx asked restlessly making him snap out of his daze.

"No, don't you dare to touch her this time. Leave her alone. And just do what I told you to? " Kai warned in a bone-chilling voice startling the woman by his sudden aggressiveness.

Abruptly, Kai stood up from his chair his face became dark as the moonless night outside. He turned and strode out seemingly disturbed and troubled.

Kai stopped in his tracks and stood by the door, quietly staring ahead. After a second, he turned his head to the right side and said, frost clouding his eyes. "Also find out about Li Na, every simple detail of last five years." and he left with a loud bang of the steel door.

Onyx stiffened on the spot but she was thrilled to work on the given task, every time she had dug into Li Na's past or life there was always something distinct and interesting she found out. Feeling excited for, what she would get to know this time?

As Kai's mood was totally spoiled by remembering their past matters the whole celebration was spoiled afterword. Her kitty was angry at him and why not, he left her to die? He betrayed her trust when she loved him immensely. But he wants her back, confident in her knowing that even if a master kicks his pets aside, that creature always comes back and stays loyal and Li Na was no exception. Li Na wasn't like some ravenous and beasty tigress who could survive on her own she needs protection and pampering. She's a kitty who needs her master and can't live without.

Unlike, some wild and beasty spirit unable to tame.

In the meantime, another part of the world. Early in the dark morning at Versailles Manor:

The beasty spirited, Li Na woke up and just sat on the bed suddenly she sneezed. "Ahhcchi" multiple times.

Irritated, she cursed under her breath. "Ugh, d.a.m.n you, b.a.s.t.a.r.d? whoever is cursing me so early in the morning," she said frustratingly, and bend over to pick up the tissue on the bedside table and sniffling with irritation in her nose.

d.a.m.n You! Mei Xing, what's wrong with you? Denying Lu Jianjun's coat when you're idiot enough not wear or take yours along. Great, now suffer from this cold.' "Ahhcchii..." 'Ahh, it's frustrating.' Li Na scolded herself inwardly when the man had offered help by himself only she had to be so well-bred to reject him.

Tiredly, she crawled out of bed and dragged herself towards the bathroom door while crying and sobbing, wiping her non-existent tears.

'So what if I don't have real tears but my heartfelt pain is real.

Why? Oh...Why? My love, my Little Tiger has to be so cruel and harsh towards me. Am I not his mother? True love!?'

'Aiigoo.... these true love and love, at first sight, hurts the most, Mei Xing get used to it.' she inspired herself standing in front of a large mirror for falling in love with Little Tiger at first sight. She slightly bends to the sink while splas.h.i.+ng cold water on her face. She then looked up and saw her reflection on the mirror, dripping droplets, Li Na breath a sigh of relief while tried cheering her sullen mood.

Little Tiger has become truly heartless for her. He didn't sleep nor consented to come back unless and until she left.

Coming out of the bathroom, Li Na freshened up yet she still felt a little drowsy due to the lack of proper sleep. Her mind was preoccupied and filled with multiple thoughts preventing her from sleeping peacefully. Her eyes hardly open and felt eyelids loaded just as if heavyweight were put on them.

Roughly standing in the middle of the lavishly grand room with her back facing the balcony. Suddenly, Li Na paused in her tracks, when she felt everything around her was so quiet and still that she can hear her steadily pumping heart and rush of her breathings in such a pin drop silence as if time itself has been stopped.

On the contrary, the stillness around her wasn't anywhere inside her. She was always a chaotic mess inside her head. Why is that she was constantly reminded of this silence and limitlessness? which is scary! For someone like Mei-Xing, who has a bright personality and life, having a dead silence with no family or a person around her is a kind of worst nightmare.

'Get used to it!' These few repeating words inside her mind echoed which she recited to control her emotions, suddenly froze within her. Those words articulated like a question to her.

'Get used to it? This is what you earn.'

Complex, Li Na threw the towel on the sofa as she came to stand in front of a full-length mirror as she thought to herself. She doesn't like to be indecisive, lost it makes her anxious and uneasy as if living in h.e.l.l.

' Get used to it? applied to my whole existence. I have to get used to everything along...Should I believe it? The reality of everything is terrifying.' the bitter realization sulked into her consciousness yet she felt reluctant to believe and compromise.

She hardly has any control and choice over everything. Whether it's about the unacquainted people around her or it's about the body sealing her soul through which she's breathing in right now.

She doesn't know either she should feel grateful or be scared of circ.u.mstances. Certainly, she's grateful for getting an unexcepted chance of being alive again yet something scared her the most. Surely, every gain comes with its own price tag. And this reward of rebirth must have its cost too. Perhaps, it's just her insecurity knowing that the life of her family without her seems normal and standard. No one bothered without her presence.

Unusual and weird! The didn't care at all.

She doesn't how to feel about these highly possible scenarios. And if that's the truth then she should cry or laugh at herself. but apparently, that's making her feel something very similar to the fear of loss and separation.

A hunch of emptiness. Is that how Li Na felt her whole life? But Mei Xing can't live like Li Na. If it is how Li Na had lived then she can't get used to it but get over this blanket of emptiness.
