Chapter 48: Why Life Seems So Unfair Sometimes?

Li Na had requested Lu Jun-hui to tell her about Little Tiger in details and now she regretted urging him. This is not the first time, she felt downhearted when something her thoughts ill.u.s.trated or implied fitted the reality but it did break her heart to know that her a.s.sumption regarding Little Tiger's fitness was rigid.

The unfit boy had unmistakably suffered and endured the consequences of drugs taken by his mother during the pregnancy.

Slackly leaning back on her chair, she stared at the beautiful pictures of Little Tiger scattered on the table. She thought she could fix the damage that Li Na did to Little Tiger but as Lu Jun-hui told her everything she could no longer gather her courage to face the innocent child.

Little Tiger has not only suffered a lot because of Li Na's carelessness during her pregnancy but also after that. Apparently, anyone with the right frame of mind could tell why she acted like this? But Mei Xing pondered was Li Na truly that much of thick-skinned and immature girl. Li Na behaved the same way with her child just as how her stepmother behaved with her in childhood after her father's death. Reserved and Separated. There was no warmth or emotional bond between them. Only coldness and differences...

Slowly, mounting her head, Li Na put her chin on her fist as she glanced at photographs spread across the wooden table. She wanted to see Little Tiger's pictures from the day he was born until now. There are so many photographs jumbled together over each other yet the adorable and charming boy's features looked perfect in all angles and frames. He's so lovely that she could spend an eternity just staring at him.

Suddenly, the room felt chilled and depressing. Li Na ogled at pictures for a while before picking up a photograph and straightening her back. Looking at the father and son duo resembling alike she felt a surge of turmoil in her heart.

It was a candid picture clicked from a distance, maybe unknown to both of them as golden yet gentle-looking ray falling on them basking them in bliss where Lu Jianjun squatted on his one heel with a knee bend while holding Little Tiger firmly and securely as little fella's feet doesn't look stable on the ground as Little Tiger was cheekily smiling as his one fist held onto his father's white s.h.i.+rts selves tightly whereas the other hand's fingers were stretched out to touch the fur of a baby panda in front of them. Little Tiger's expression was of an enthusiastic and astonished child, his eyes popping out and mouth agape as corners of his lips were stretched upward in addition to that there was rare happiness on Lu Jianjun's face with a slight smile while he enjoyed the toddler's expressions. The duo appeared to be blissful and relaxed. The picture was so peaceful and soothing to the eyes but Li Na felt a sting of pain tearing her eyes. It was heartbreaking to see how Little Tiger had grown-up from being a naive and immaculate soul to the depressed and sullied one. Whereas reality sucks and the image seems so happy and they looked beautiful together...

A tear rolled down her cheeks and fall on the photograph. She stared at Little Tiger endlessly cause his little frame looked weak but he was happy with his father.

Her eyes swept across all the photographs again scanning and settled on a picture of Little Tiger and Li Na. She picked up and viewed both the pictures side to side. There was such a huge contrast in both photographs although Little Tiger's enthusiasm as a toddler was the same.

In the picture with Li Na, Little Tiger seems younger and lying in her embrace smiling sweetly as he was stretching his one arm towards Li Na's face but he couldn't reach while Li Na clutches his other arm tightly which can easily reach up to her face.

Li Na's face was void of any emotions and Little Tiger seems a little bit troubled for not been able to touch her as little eyebrows knitted hard. Perhaps he wanted to feel his mother's touch as the boy trying laborious to stretch longer.

Only if Li Na had shown a little happiness or smiled playfully then the photograph would have been like a mother teasing her child deliberately. But that was not the case, Li Na was specifically shunning him from touching her face.

She doesn't know why Li Na was so heartless with her baby but for sure, Li Na also had a tragic and depressing past. Still, she should have known and kept in mind that Little Tiger was too small and fragile to bear her coldness and indifference if compared to her.

Li Na had to be mindful and considerate enough to know her stepmother's indifference but Little Tiger doesn't even know her indifference towards him as the boy persists on trying to get close to her.

After looking for a long time, Li Na wiped her tears and picked up all the photographs one by one and arranged them neatly. While doing so she couldn't help but venture on Li Na's tragic life, only if Lis wouldn't have tried to conspire against her mother then maybe her mother would have adopted Li Na after her father's death and the three girls would have grown together under the protection of caring and loving parents. Li Na's fate would have been different. But everyone was not as fortunate as twins were.

Why life seems so unfair sometimes? Li Na shook her head if people can act so mean to their own child then why's it wrong if life goes unfair.

After knowing the Little Tiger's ailment Li Na went to see Little Tiger in West villa.

For a while, she waited downstairs but Little fella wasn't in the mood to see her she heard the noises of the porcelains been broken and items been thrown out. Sitting cross-legged on the sofa she got up and walked up to the staircase before going back to sit again.

Li Na's heel wiggled, pulsating to barge into his room but Lu Jun-hui stopped her in time for the sake of Little Tiger and rucks he might create like yesterday.

Li Na was impatient and restless racking her brain on, why is Little Tiger maddened and been so frantic just to meet her?

Still, she waited for him to sleep to see him but to no avail. Little children should sleep early yet this fella was wide awake as suffering child insomnia.

Reluctantly, Li Na had to leave just then Lu Jun-hui stopped her. They sat on the bench near the West wing's garden.

"Li Na, I want you to stay away from Little Tiger, but I also know he still loves you. That's why he was so hurt to face you again and again. To be honest, It wasn't easy for him to give up on you it was more stressful than seeing you. So, please don't force him, the more you'll push him, the more he'll ignore you get stressed himself." Lu Jun-hui said plainly but his tone was firm with a hint of warning for her.
