Chapter 34 – Sending off
Edited by Owner
The day of the Deep Red Discipline had arrived.
This day, the Su Family gathered at the outskirts of Lin Bei City.
They were here to both send off someone and to supervise.
Su Chen was currently carrying a large bag. In it were large amounts of food and weapons that had been stuffed onto him by his mother and Su Fei Hu. It included a steel battle blade, a python leather armor, and a bow. Although not an Origin Weapon, but they were excellent equipment on their own right.
“Father, Chen’er isn’t able to see. How can you bear to let him enter the Deep Red Mountain Range in this condition? You are just sending him to die!”
Tang Hong Rui did not give up, still trying to convince Su Chang Che.
The old man slowly sighed. “It is not me who is sending him to die. This is the path he chose.”
“But you can stop him!”
Su Ke Ji smiled and replied, “Sister-in-law, your words are wrong. We, humans, have been fighting to survive in this environment of being surrounded by many other races. We have also relied on the words ‘Unyielding Bravery’ to maintain our position and not cower in this dangerous land. Su Chen has a martial heart, willing to risk himself for his martial path. This has fulfilled the spirit of our race, how could we stop him? What’s more, although Su Chen is blind, the methods he used to injure Su Yue and cripple Mo Dayan makes him as good as a normal person. Last year when he fought with my son in the ring, didn’t my son end up losing to him? This proves that Su Chen possesses real abilities; and his current trip to the Deep Red Mountain Range might not mean that he is unable to return alive.”
As he said the last few sentences, not being able to hold back the cold laughter within his heart, it possessed a thick stench of sarcasm.
“Su Ke Ji!” Tang Hong Rui gritted her teeth and forced a few words out, “Over the past few years, you have been pressuring my son. If not for you, my son would not have needed to choose this path; this is not the end between you and I, Tang Hong Rui!”
With those words, she pounced at him but was somehow barely held back by the rest.
Even so, Su Ke Ji had jumped in surprised by the look upon Tang Hong Rui and quickly retreated a few steps. “What are you saying, how is this got to do with me? I am just persuading you out of good will yet you bare your teeth at me, how ungrateful.”
As he said that, his face looked filled with grievance.
Seeing the scene from afar, Su Chen while shaking hands with Su Fei Hu who was sending him off, he said, “Third Uncle, I will be going now. I am not worried of anything else but my mother. With me not by her side, I will need to trouble you to look after her and prevent her from doing anything silly.”
“Rest a.s.sured.” Su Fei Hu replied. “You on the other hand have to be careful. You are unable to see anything, and so you will need to feel your way around. Do not eat anything that you can’t verify, and the dried rations within the bag should be enough. Although it makes it is heavy to carry around but it is still better than eating the wrong stuff.”
“No worries.” Su Chen smiled: “When a Fiend Beast is killed, it will naturally become safe food.”
“Aiyo, this is precisely why I am worried, that you’d go off hunting for Fiend Beasts. You should just be obedient and stay safe till the time limit ends. It will be uncomfortable, but it is better than losing your life!”
“I eat sparingly.” Su Chen turned his body as he replied and began to walk towards the mountain range.
His speed
, although not fast, but was very stable. One step after the other, he eventually disappeared into the forest.
Seeing her son entering that land of terror, and not knowing if he would survive his ordeal, Tang Hong Rui’s legs went soft and weakly sat on the floor.
——
Within the Deep Red Mountain Range, the forest was vast – endless.
He headed straight into the deepest area, following the countless mountain tops of different sizes. The land was complicated, the roads were rugged, and the topography of the mountains were dangerous.
After walking for a day, Su Chen reached the top of a mountain.
Standing on top of that mountain, Su Chen looked into the distance. Everywhere was a sea of green, except of the crown of trees, neither person nor beast could be seen.
The mountain was tall, about sixty-five meters. There were steep cliffs on its east, west and north side and wasn’t climbable, only the path at its south side could reach the peak; below the mountain a small river runs pa.s.sed it.
“Let it be here, in the next hundred days, I will be living here.” Su Chen was satisfied with the terrain here.
Next, Su Chen put down his heavy bag and took out a net. The net was installed below the cliff, keeping him safe in case he needed to jump off from it.
After that, Su Chen retrieved a small bottle from the bag and dripped some of its contents onto the ground, this was exactly the Beast Luring Potion from Yan Wu Shuang. If controlled well, this type of potion was actually a good type of lure. The reason for its existence was also for this purpose.
What was left, was for Su Chen to wait for a Fiend Beast to make its way here.
Instead of choosing to search deep into the forest, Su Chen chose to use ambus.h.i.+ng for hunting, waiting for his prey to deliver themselves to him.
The greatest advantage for using this method was its safety, making the best use of the terrain to reduce the effort required. When the Fiend Beast arrived, he could use the advantage of being on higher grounds to discover the beast sooner and determine if he was able to fight it. If an opponent that was outside his caliber appeared, Su Chen would immediately jump off the cliff and into the safety net to escape.
This was also one of the tactics that Su Chen and Tang Zhen devised over the past three days.
Su Chen was after all, still in the Forged Body while the weakest Fiend Beast was still the equivalent of an Energy Guiding Origin Master. Even with four Origin Armaments on hand, Su Chen would still need to be careful. If he wandered about in the forest and encountered a pack of Fiend Beasts, then only death awaited him.

In comparison, the wait and ambush method might have been dull but it was also obviously safer.
Of course, this was also thanks to Yan Wu Shuang’s Beast Luring Potion that this tactic could be employed. Not only did Yan Wu Shuang fail to harm Su Chen, she did him a great favor instead.
After two hours, the first beast appeared.
It’s was a Saw-Tail Tiger.
This was not a Fiend Beast but a wild beast.
Even so, this guy still possesses a huge one-ton body that not many people could block it easily.
Facing such a big fella, Su Chen did not use an Origin Armament but chose to use his fist to fight it.
Being a Ninth Layer Forged Body, Su Chen’s power wasn’t any weaker than the Saw-Tail Tiger. The Su Family’s Blazing Tiger Fist was also a technique that emphasized on powerful attacks, therefore the battle between man and beast was quite violent. Without any gimmicks, with every punch, a claw was returned, each attack landing on the respective body. This was a compet.i.tion to determine who was unable to hold on first.
In the end, Su Chen used his valiant physique and beat the Saw-Tail Tiger to death, his body becoming filled with injuries caused by the tiger’s claws
Yet Su Chen did not mind and immediately began to dismantle the corpse and started a meat barbeque.
Tiger meat was highly nutritious; eating it could a.s.sist in the recovery of his strength.
Beast eats man, while man eats beast. This was the mutual relations.h.i.+p between man and beast seeing each other as resources.
The reason for choosing the Deep Red Discipline, wasn’t simply just to train himself through combat. A Nmore important reason was to obtain beast related resources. Even the lowest level of beast meat was a type of powerful supplement.
That night, after filling himself up with a meal of tiger meat, Su Chen laid down on the tiger skin and spent his first night in the Deep Red Mountain Range.
