Chapter 273 – Sneaking In

Outside the protectorate administrative building, Lu Mingshu hid on a rooftop, hugging her sword.

Zhou Ruying was beside her, sitting in an ugly posture as if she was at home.

“Hey, what are you thinking about?” Zhou Ruying picked up some gra.s.s and poked Lu Mingshu.

“What if I die here?” Lu Mingshu replied.

Zhou Ruying stared at her blankly for a moment before laughing out loud. “You are afraid of dying? What joke is this?”

“Of course. If I die, somebody would be upset.”

Zhou Ruying leaned back and sighed, looking at her with envy. “Your master, huh? You’re lucky, at least one person cares about you.”

“Yeah.”

Master, Hui Niang, Ah Sheng, Gao Xiang, and…

Lu Mingshu looked up at the sky.

Even though there’s not many, there are still people who care about me.

“Good for you! If I die, I doubt anyone would care.” Zhou Ruying looked up too.

“That’s why you can’t die.”

Zhou Ruying stared at her, dumbfounded. She then regained her senses and laughed. “True, true. Before someone cares about me, I can’t die.”

As soon as Zhou Ruying finished, Lu Mingshu got on her guard and gave her a signal. “It’s time.”

After getting the correct map, the Su Ze duo informed them that today was the day.

Su Ze was in charge of behind the scenes matters, while the rest would take a different path. Lu Mingshu and Zhou Ruying sat there, waiting for a chance to get into the administrative building, while Yan Fei and Ling Wuxia tried to sneak in.

Then, Lu Mingshu and Zhou Ruying would take charge of taking down the enemy manpower, while Yan Fei and Ling Wuxia would sneak in to get the captive out and then escape by the planned route.

Originally, Zhou Ruying did not trust Ling Wuxia to do the saving, but Lu Mingshu fully supported the idea. “With our route, we will surely come across many elites. No matter whether it’s me and Ling Wuxia or you and Ling Wuxia, the coordination would not be as good as you and me.”

“And no matter what, she’s smart enough to know what she needs to do to get back. She’ll make sure that I survive.”

Zhou Ruying pondered for a while. She and Lu Mingshu were from the same sect, so they practiced the same skills. No matter how powerful Ling Wuxia was, the coordination would be affected because they practiced different skills. Moreover, she and Lu Mingshu had already worked together in Jasper Sun Mountain.

Not after long, a guard came out from the administrative building. He was holding a pike and stuck it everywhere, doing a thorough check.

Suddenly, the big cart with a cage containing live pigs was somehow opened.

“Hey, pigs! Come back!” the owner of the cart yelled.

“What are you doing? How dare you make a nuisance outside the protectorate administrative building!?” the guard yelled back at him.

But as soon as he finished, a pig jumped down from the cart, and this big fat boar started running around aimlessly.

The guard looked down at his feet and saw a boar sprinting toward him at the speed of lightning, and it hit his leg.

“Ah!” The guard felt his leg stinging and shouted in pain.

When a pig went wild, it would have astonis.h.i.+ng strength. Furthermore, these pigs weren’t a normal breed. Pigs sent to the protectorate administrative building were a type of spirt beast, so they had even greater strength.

More than ten pigs were now scrambling around, trampling on things and damaging them. Soon, the area was a mess.

“Now!” Lu Mingshu whispered.

Zhou Ruying and Lu Mingshu flashed forward, both moving toward a cart carrying fruits that had already been checked, and hid.

After a few moments, the pigs were caught and placed back on the cart.

The guard felt that he was having an unlucky day, thus he didn’t do the second round of checks and let the vehicles in as quickly as he could.

The carts rolled over the stone slabs and travelled slowly. After a while, they reached their destination, and the drivers got down to take a rest.

Zhou Ruying looked out. She threw a stone and knew that it was currently safe for her to go out.

Yan Fei told them that, in the protectorate administrative building, there was very tight security. They would cast a spell that allowed them to count heads in the building very quickly. That number must then match the data of who was supposed to be inside.

Even though they managed to sneak in, it wasn’t complete.

After some time, when the guards realized the numbers didn’t match, they would start to do a check.

This timing was very short, and it wasn’t enough for Yan Fei and Ling Wuxia to get the person out.

Thus, they needed Lu Mingshu and Zhou Ruying to drag out the time.

Both changed into the clothes of a maidservant and walked out as if nothing happened.

A guard pa.s.sed by, but he didn’t even spare them a look before going off.

The administrative building was extremely big. There was a huge courtyard covering the smaller one, and it was very complicated. Zhou Ruying followed closely behind Lu Mingshu. They didn’t stop moving as they walked toward the back.

They only stopped when they came to a garden and hid behind an artificial hill that was put up for decoration.

“Hey, are you sure this is the correct place?” Zhou Ruying whispered.

Lu Mingshu side-eyed her in disdain.

Seeing that, Zhou Ruying grumbled. “It better be, or I’ll-”

“Not everyone has a poor sense of direction like you,” Lu Mingshu whispered. “Be patient. How are you even an a.s.sa.s.sin?”

“Hey!” Zhou Ruying flared up. “What did you just say?”

“Shus.h.!.+” Lu Mingshu covered her mouth to prevent her from continuing.

Both of them quieted down and hid patiently behind the hill. Suddenly, footsteps could be heard.

“Gentleman Yan, you’re too kind. You always bring us so many gifts.” A man’s voice could be heard.

“It’s my duty.” Yan Fei’s deep voice could then be heard. “If not for Manager Xu, Fallen Angel Restaurant would not have such good business.”

“Gentleman Yan is…” After a few words, the man changed topics. “This is Gentleman Yan’s personal servant? Such an outstanding beauty!”

“If Manager Xu likes, I’ll let her serve you,” Yan Fei said softly. “Xiao Hua, greet Manager Xu.”

“Xiao Hua greets Manager Xu.” It was Ling Wuxia’s voice.

Lu Mingshu and Zhou Ruying exchanged a glance, and they could see each other grinning.

“Aiyo, Gentleman Yan is really generous. But in the administrative building, it’s not easy for people to enter….”

“It’s fine,” Yan Fei replied. “Even if Xiao Hua can’t stay, then it’s her fortune to be able to serve Manager Xu.”

“Hmmm, that’s true….”

“About an hour.” Lu Mingshu looked at her pocket watch.

Yan Fei nodded. “They check every hour. We need to be fast.”
