Chapter 13.1

A very, very Happy New Year Greaders. Since a lot of you thought that this old mother had died in some random gutter hole to never translate again. I thought it was necessary to prove that I’m alive and kicking. Yes!! It is true that ‘that’ fall in the bathroom nearly killed me but I did get better as I sat on those donut plastic cus.h.i.+on doing my research. Also, I do wanna remind you this is just my hobby and my real work pays for my food so that will still be my priority, and the updates will be slower. But I do think that I’ll wrap this up by march okay. Capiche? Muah, my babies.

Undeniably, an illusion was especially beautiful to a woman whose heart was ridden with insecurity, bitterness over 'real' love relations.h.i.+ps.

After the previous night's s.e.x-capade, Xia Xi Jin lay exhausted on the bed coddled between the lush duvet and pillows late in the morning. As her tiny head remained sandwiched between the pillows, locks of deep black hair lay scattered on the edge of the bed. It made her look rather tiny and cute, like an ostrich who had dug her head in the ground unfazed by her surroundings.

Upon entering the bedroom after a refres.h.i.+ng bath, Mu Tian's lips perked up watching the little beauty in her deep slumber. Walking up to her in bed, he teasingly spanked her little round bottom to wake her up.

"Get up, it's late… Have some breakfast. If you're really tired, then eat first and go back to bed. Anyway, It's not like you have much to do in the day."

Xi Jin 'hmmed’ twice in agreement as she poked her little bed-head out of the pillows, with clear beady eyes and a rather childlike pout. Realising that the little cutey had been up all along but refused to leave the bed made Mu Tian rather amused.

With mirth plastered on his face, Mu Tian sat down next to her and rubbed her messy bed-head asking her softly, "What happened? The body isn't feeling too comfortable?"

Xi Jin pus.h.i.+ng his hand off asked him warily, "Xi Mu Tian, what did you mean by all that that happened last night?

Last night, President Xi had been simply too drunk to comprehend his actions. It was the first time in ten years that he had acted this unruly. However, he clearly remembered what had caused him to drink so much. An inexplicable sense of unhappiness had consumed him last night that was partly caused by his impetuous jealousy for Xi Jin, and partly because of his memories of his last wife, Fei Luan.

At the beginning of his marriage to Rong Fei Luan, Xi Enterprise's internal and external problems caused by his father's untimely death kept Mu Tian incessantly busy with troubleshooting Xi’s problems. Even when his father-in-law Rong’s company gave him its full financial and moral support in the commercial world. Unfortunately, by the time he realised that he had indeed neglected Fei Luan and wanted to make-up for it, she pa.s.sed away leaving him with a lifetime of regret hidden deep within his heart. Sadly, her flower-like beauty and tenderness were no longer real to the world but could only stay on as lingering memories of another time in his mind.

Through the years, his regret made Mu Tian felt invariably guilty towards Fei Luan. Even though he was sure he didn't love her as a man. But he always felt, as a husband, he owed her too much.

But then with Xi Jin… what was it?

Resting his eyes on his little woman, Mu Tian understood she wasn't anything like the refined Fei Luan. Yet, she was able to occupy a s.p.a.ce within his heart that made him eat Rong Fei Lin's 'special' sour vinegar and even made him confront her about it last night. What all did he say to her? He was rather stunned by his own behaviour.

Feeling that he might have not heard her, Xi Jin decide to repeat herself since she felt it was necessary to make things clear with him. She firmly said, "Xi Mu Tian, me knowing Rong Fei Lin was a mere coincidence. We are just friends."

"Friends!?" Mu Tian's eyes gleamed with mockery as he faked a smile. "That's what you say, but Fei Lin told me last night that he was lovelorn, and I think the reason for his heartbreak is you."

Me!? "What do you mean?" (T/n: Really? She can’t understand he’s saying ‘you’ve been hoeing around with my bro-in-law’. What a shame. Our pure, innocent MC has her dull moments)

Xi Jin felt rather annoyed and reluctant to leave this topic. She frowned deeply at the man who saw her relations.h.i.+p with another man, Rong Fei Lin, ambiguously. His words, his tone, his expression, everything about him right now made her uncomfortable and affected.

Sensing her reluctance, Mu Tian chuckled softly. Easing his previous demeanour, he calmly said, "You shouldn’t mind what I said before. I just hope you remember your ident.i.ty now, as my, Xi Mu Tian's, wife. Although we have managed to keep it from the media until now, it wouldn't be so forever. Your words will directly influence the image of Xi Enterprises, and so you should learn to be more cautious to not stir up any gossips around. Okay? Now get up, we'll go have our breakfast."

T/n: Please don’t mind these chapters being in parts. Parts make it easier to post chapters. At least that way you’ll get chapters regularly. The struggle is REAL you guys.

Once again, a very Happy New Year, and lots of love to my Greaders.
