There were demon masters who employed demons, and demon slayers who eradicated them, so it wasnt unusual for there to be those who had the power to summon demons. Even Yato had heard the shouts of curses from some unknown fellow in order to summon demons back when he was in the Intersection of the Six Realms. Whenever that happened, strong but unintelligent demons would respond to the invitation and cross over the barrier walls. The human world and the Intersection of the Six Realms werent as inaccessible as humans thought or hoped. Demons could get to and exist in the human world.

Hoshiai got up and spat out the blood in his mouth. He could see blood flowing here and there from his head to his toes, which seemed to only excite the demon even more. Yato wasnt interested in who would be victorious or who would lose and die. He hated demon slayers who exterminated demons, but he also hated other demons than himself. It seemed like the demon was winning, but the demon slayer was tenacious even though he was at a disadvantage. He took out kunai imbued with some sort of powerful spiritual energy from his breast pocket and threw them at the demon. One, two, then three. The kunai pierced its chest, shoulder, and stomach one after the other. The demon was unable to endure, falling to its knees. When the demon tried to grab the kunai to pull them out, a burning sound came from its hand.
