I open my eyes and I saw her. She hugged her knees while her head rested on it and cried. I walk closer toward her but the wall of gla.s.s was there again. I tried to slam my hands on them, but still, she can't hear me. All she did is cried. What happened next, I could feel that IÂ dragged by a force that I don't understand. I was taken away from her. And when I woke up, here I am, wonder if where I am.
This room is familiar. I look to my left side and there; I saw the window. It must be noon. Tears began trailing down my eyes, so I close them. I wanted to get back to sleep. I don't want to think I was here but Quinn is nowhere. I have the feeling that I was going back to that lifetime.
Why? Why was I always dragged into this life? When does everything going to end? I am tired. I just wanted to be with Quinn. Please, bring me back, Quinn. Take me from here! I screamed.
"Ca.s.sandra? Hey, what's wrong?"
This voice. I know him…
I turned to my left side to hide my tears, but I wanted to cry further.
"I am sorry, Uncle Martin. I was just missing, Mama and Papa." I said, and this is the truth, anyway.
"Okay. Cry all you wanted. I understand." he said, then patted my back. "The doctor said, we can go home tomorrow. So, they need to conduct all the tests today. But I will ask them to take them later. Okay?"
I need to reply to Uncle Martin, so I just nod my head. He left, and so I continue crying. "Quinn…"
* * *
Another morning she woke up in a room she began using to it. She does not surprise anymore if she is looking at the same ceiling in these pa.s.sing days. Ca.s.sie heaved a long sigh before she stepped down the bed and trail the bathroom.
The girl she's looking at in the mirror has bloomed into a lady. She had already developed her chest than the last time they s.h.i.+fted. And her hair is now shoulder-length, and it looks nice on her.
She remembered Madison. Her hair was this length, and but have velvet dark colored eyes. Maybe, if her eyes weren't brown, she was now looking at her daughter. Somehow, she is happy. Levi and Madison are getting married. Now she smiled looking at her reflection but her face also flooded with tears.
Why is this happening to her? Did she do something in her past life, and she was being punished like this?
She misses Quinn badly. She also misses her parents. May her Papa against her having an early marriage, but she misses him badly. She was lucky how their fate changed course, and they were alive in her present lifetime. However, the person in this life; she lost everyone and everything.
Now, it is not surprising how lonely she is… and she can't imagine how she copes up life without feeling love. Lydia and Mimie badly treated her. If Martin were not too nice, she would absolutely feel abandon until the day comes…
The day would come, and she would be happy. That is why just hold on. She wished to tell her this. If she has a chance to talk to herself, she wanted to tell her that everything would be okay.
That is why, the thing she's grateful to this switching places like this, is she from this life experience how her life will go to change soon. So it is okay if she suffered from loneliness because a perfect life is about to happen in the time that everything fulfills. She also wanted to tell her this... Ca.s.sie was on her thoughts when she heard that Mimie banging the door.
"What the h.e.l.l are you doing inside?" Mimie banging the bathroom door. "You don't own this bathroom, so mind that someone else has to use it!" Mimie yells at her after she opens the door. "What took you so long? Don't forget our breakfast!" Mimie added.
After she got dressed, she went downstairs and began making breakfast for them. Too bad, Lydia and Mimie stay home all day. It is Sunday, and so they were just lazing at home. By dinner, they complain about the food she cooks. There is nothing much to cook anyway because Lydia did not do any shopping for the next whole week's food stocks.
"Can you call this food?" Mimie complains once again. She wanted to counter, but she kept her silence. She should not put the real owner of this life in a situation she has to face the consequences of her foolishness. And so, she bears all the bad words they threw at her.
"Can't you learn more dishes?" Lydia blurted out.
She knew. But she chose not to show it. If the times the Ca.s.sandra in this lifetime come back; Mimie and Lydia would notice that something is not right and there is a difference to their cooking. That usual, she's pretending that can't cook.
"Why you didn't ask someone to teach you how to cook? You learned French for free. For sure, you can do the same in learning how to cook. You can ask Miss Bennett's boyfriend, right?"
"Okay, Aunt Lydia," she concurred, for Lydia to stop ranting further. She glances at her who the woman is grinning. She looks, please. She had a bad feeling about this, but she ignored it. Tomorrow she will go to the Academy and talk to Mr. Larry then.
The next day, after breakfast, Ca.s.sie did not go to her school. It is Monday, but she will ditch school in the morning. She's walking toward the Bastien Culinary Arts Academy when someone calls her.
"Ca.s.sie!"
"Levi? What are you doing here?"
"I waited at your school gate. But it's past nine in the morning but you did not go to school so am worried. You also did not reply nor answer your phone."
Oh, that's right. She didn't check if she had a phone. She doesn't much use it anyway as she has no reason to.
"Why were you looking for me, by the way? I am going to Mr. Bastien's house."
"Why?"
"I was planning to enroll at his Academy. I mean, to learn how to cook."
"For your aunt? She's too much! Why did you not tell your uncle how they treated you bad?"
She doesn't know how to answer him. She needs to stay away from trouble the real Ca.s.sie in this lifetime, and so she will be just obeyed. She has to change the topic to avoid this matter. "What are you doing here? You have a cla.s.s, right?"
"It was your birthday yesterday. We plan to treat you, but we can't contact you. And I saw that your aunt just staying home."
Oh, her birthday? Which part of the book is she going to Larry's academy? Her eyes widen while peering at Levi. It is the day! This is the day!
Ca.s.sie quickly marching towards the Bastien Academy leaving Levi behind, and he just followed her quietly.
Quinn was here! And to follow what happens in the book, they have to meet. Not for Quinn to meet Ca.s.sandra but their chance of an encounter.
Her whole body is s.h.i.+vering with excitement. Her heart beats racing inside her chest. She has to knock and get inside to talk to Mr. Larry.
That's how the book happens.
