2:00 P.M.
Inside this room is Quinn resting in a single couch; patiently waiting for Derek to arrive. He summoned him for important things he wanted to discuss. The door opened and Derek entered the room, greeted the man waiting for an hour already.
"Yo, Quinn. Looking for me? Sorry if I haven't come quick," Derek said.
"It's alright. How was Karen?" he asked.
"Nothing to worry, she just bore our second child," Derek announced with sparkling eyes.
"Hey, congratulations!" Quinn said, stretching his right knuckle to meet Derek's. Wow. He definitely envies as he could feel this longing in his heart for Ca.s.sandra.
"Thanks, man!" Derek meets Quinn's knuckle and nudged. "Now, am all ears," he said afterward.
"All right, let us begin. I called for you to look at this matter, I want this as the top priority," he said.
"Okay. What is it?" Derek asked, curious. Quinn rare to give a request like this seriously.
"Madison. I want you to run a test on her health."
"Is something happens to her?" Derek asked curiously.
"Something is happening lately, yes. It looks like there is an aftereffect every time we time travel. But I guess because we did it frequently these days. I came up to the realization, we should not do time traveling every other day."
"Wait, a minute. Are you making me like that kind of scientist?"
"Yes." Quinn nodded and he looks serious.
Silence past him, contemplating what Quinn has said to him. He is a known 'miracle' for discovering such medicine for unknown and rare cases of cancer and genetic illnesses no one breakthrough yet, but him. "Do you think I can do this?" he inquired afterward.
"I know you could. You are the only one I trust to handle this matter," determined, he said.
Derek placed his elbows on his knee: clasped both of his palms and rested his chin on top. "I see. So you want me to run a test on Madison, like an experiment?"
"Not really, but the sort of, yes. Anatomy is your expertise as well. I am sure you can figure out what you must do. So tell me soon what you needed."
"It is interesting. Besides, she is carrying Williams's blood. This will be an interesting project for our family."
"And for the Chen. Have you ever not realized it? Lady Isabella said to be Marivella's older sister. She is a Chen, same to Ca.s.sandra, who is a Chen through Mama Hannah."
"And Madison also carrying the Chen blood. It connects these three women. Could be Ca.s.sandra could also time travel?"
"You mentioned it. I did ponder about this. It is not just something that happens. It is because Ca.s.sandra probably has the ability."
"But why she can't come home?"
"I don't know. Or maybe she is not aware of it…" he said, then look outside the window. The rain has stopped now.
"By now, I want to make sure about Madison's health and her safety for doing such a thing. Maybe we could find out something like if we are truly from the cursed past."
"Do you believe in that?" Derek asked. And Quinn's expression answered his curiosity.
He is the guy who grew up and lived in technology. Then suddenly, his life filled with mysteries. Unrevealing the past life: immortality, reincarnation, the cursed, and such as time traveling.
Now, the woman he loves dearly is missing. Not just missing, but replaced by someone from the life that said; no longer existed to their present lifetime.
"Okay, I'll accept this, so I need a special team," Derek confirmed. This is a challenge of his profession, a matter of above his capability is not about creating a medicine but breaking through dimensional boundaries.
"Am glad to hear that. Then, if you already have ideas, let me know."
"Yes... I will take her with me tomorrow to our France Facility," Derek affirmed.
"How about this? Every time you go traveling, we must connect your bodies to the machine and monitor both your mental and health status?" Then he suggested.
"I've been pondering this already, the best idea and sounded necessary."
"Now I have more ideas and know the people I needed."
"Okay, good."
Quinn sighed. He also feels exhausted. Maybe he and Levi needed to run a check.
* * *
"So how was it? I heard that you went to the time way back."
"Yes. It surprises me we went into the past, way past. But Madison did suffer a lot after."
"I worry about Ca.s.sandra, but we can't abuse what Madison could do to find her. I want her to stay healthy the whole time."
"Okay, I understood. Besides, she is your daughter, the reincarnate one," Derek acknowledged. "This ritual thing, Larry and our wives talked about this before. Now we concluded, that possibly because Marivella and Carlisle have a 'soul binding marriage' ritual, Carlene or Madison receive her immortality."
"Soul Binding Marriage ritual?" he repeated. Dumbfounded.
"Yes. It is mentioned in the book of the Blood Moon Curse. Carlisle and Marivella got married even though Carlisle is married already, but that is just a mortal way; it says. But the ritual is more sacred, and only a shaman performs this kind of marriage or wedding. Soul binding marriage; that even they died, they will always belong to each other. Their spirit becomes one."
"Wow. How interesting. So, Ca.s.sandra and I belong to each other no matter what?"
"Both of you are the reincarnated of their soul, so yes."
"However, why heaven punish us until now?"
Derek cannot grasp an answer. He knows nothing but only Bennett's and Montfort hold the truth. "I'm sorry, Quinn. Even I did not know more about these things. And I respect if Karen did not share everything with me."
Quinn sighed. "I am sorry, too. Everything is just new to me. I'm still shocked."
"I did. When Karen told me about the secret of those two books."
"Don't lose hope, Quinn. If everything is true, then look at us? Karen stays alive and even we were expecting our second child." Derek's encouragement. Karen has a sad end in that life. He's glad that no more exists in the present life.
Quinn smiled lazily.
"So, what is interesting you saw then?" Derek changes the topic as Quinn getting sad.
"I saw her, yes. The older her."
"Hum..."
"What?"
"Nothing, I just wonder."
"Okay. Or you were thinking also as what the book says?"
"I am innocent."
"Hey! That's unfair! Because I can't read it, everyone should? n.o.body must read it in the first place! I want to burn that book!"
Derek chuckles then said. "But we are not minding that."
"What the heck? The author has to include those—" he can't say it.
Derek smirked, and Quinn knows he is teasing him for real.
"About those what?"
"Shut up!" Quinn blurted out, and Derek burst to laugh seeing him blus.h.i.+ng.
"I bowed down to Ca.s.sie. Only she could make you blush," Derek keeps teasing him.
"Look who's talking!" Quinn is glaring at Derek. "I clearly remembered how you blush while proposing to Karen."
"Hey! No personal!"
