"What else do you know?" Kaname lied down on the futon and eyed me with interest.
I thought about it for a minute before answering, "I know how to drive a car, I play a mean game of tennis, and I'm an excellent cook."
"What is this 'car' and this, what was that again? 'Tekis?" He rolled on his stomach with his pillow beneath his chest. He rested his chin on his arms.
I giggled, "It's tennis. Say it again, ten-nis!"
However, Kaname didn't say anything and just stared at me, making me feel awkward.
"Ah! I almost forgot!" I hurried to get my cellphone. "You asked me for proof earlier, here you go."
"What is this?" he looked at the gadget with very little interest.
"It's a cellphone," I answered. "It's a gadget that lets you send paperless messages, make calls, take photos, play music and games, and even write a journal."
"Oh?" that caught his attention. "Show me how it works," he sounded imperious.
"I will.. Only if you say please."
"I am the sho—"
"Tut, tut! There you go again with your shogun nonsense. Will it hurt you if you just say please?"
"Fine," he rolled his eyes at me. "Please."
"Please what?" I teased.
"Please show me how this thing works," he looked at me with disdain.
I laughed. "Okay, but only because you said the magic word." Like a sales clerk in a gadget store, I proceeded to giving him an in-depth demonstration of how 'the thing' works. "Have you seen anything like it?"
"No," he was expertly swiping and tapping at the screen. He's a fast learner, I realized.
"So now do you believe that I came from the future?"
"Mmm," came his noncommittal reply.
"So what happens now?" I probed, curious to know.
He just shrugged his shoulders. I watched him open an application that lets one take pictures with filters and effects. I suddenly remembered my plan earlier.
"Tap the circle in the middle," I instructed him. He did as told and marveled at the man reflected on the screen. "That's you."
"I know," his annoyed expression mimicked by his reflection. "I have seen my perfection in mirrors countless times."
"Okay," I just said. "Do you want me to take your picture?"
"You said this thing saves the images it captures. What are you going to do with my photo afterwards?" he narrowed his eyes at me suspiciously. "Do you intend to keep it and kiss it every night before you sleep?"
I snorted. "You wis.h.!.+"
"As a matter of fact, I do wish for that," he shamelessly admitted.
"Ugh," I grimaced at him. "Do you want your photo taken or not??"
"Fine," he got up and handed me the phone. "I need you to capture my perfection perfectly. Do not make any mistakes."
"Yes, your majesty!" I bit my lower lip to hide the smile that threatened to form on my lips. "Look to the left a little bit," I instructed. "Yes, just like that! Move your head down a bit.. Yes! Then look at me!" I took several photos. Finally, it was time for my plan. "Now I need you to just stare at the lens," I pointed at the little circle at the back of my phone. I took a fifteen second video of Kaname then put my phone on silent mode. I swiped the screen a couple of times, tapped the Halloween effects, and chose the demon effect to 'enhance' the video. Before showing him the end result, I made sure the volume was up to its maximum level. "Tap the triangle."
Kaname was about to tap the play b.u.t.ton but stopped. "Where are the photos you took of me?" I hid my disappointment and told him to tap a few options. "Hmm.. Not bad, Hinata. You have captured the elegance and strength of this nation's great lord." He nodded as he studied every photo.
I couldn't wait anymore so I grabbed my phone and looked for the video. "Watch this. Now."
"So eager to please to vanity," he teased before tapping the play b.u.t.ton. A smug smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he watched the first few seconds. Not only was he arrogant, the great shogun was as vain and in love with himself as the Narcissus of Greek mythology. What's more, he didn't hide it. Not a single atom in his body had even the slightest hint of humility.
Suddenly, a laughter filled with hate and anger resounded in the room. If I wasn't familiar with the sound, I would have been scared witless. I watched Kaname's eyes widen, his mouth open, and his brows raise. He yelped and threw the phone away. Thankfully, I had quick reflexes and I was able to catch my phone.. Otherwise it would've been bye-bye thousands of pesos.
"W-what the h.e.l.l was that!?" he shouted. The look on his face was priceless, I almost wanted to take another picture. Fear, shock, and disbelief shrouded his face. "Why did I transform into a monster!?"
My plan worked.
"Hahaha!" I couldn't hold it in anymore. "You look so funny! Hahaha!" I managed to choke out before curling up in a fetal position, trying not to cry because I was laughing so hard.
Kaname glowered at me, "You tricked me!"
I laughed even harder. My stomach started to hurt. "Yes, I did! That's what you get for not believing me and for being so arrogant!"
"You tricky woman!" Kaname accused before pouncing at me.
